Many years ago I attended an evening concert here. The one thing I took away from that was Franck's Piece héroique. This happened on my second full day in Paris, so it left a big impression on a young American kid from the Midwest.
I am fascinated with this because I discovered that my ancestor Charles Saucier was organist here during the reign of Louis XVBeautiful, the church and the organ. It would be wonderful to see it one day.
This appears to be one of the late Sunday afternoon organ concerts which are free to the public (or they were at one time) with guest organists from all over the world. The Solenel Mass would follow...you'll notice that the torcheres were turned on at the end of the concert for the following mass. In some of the side chapels one can still see the original, hand-painted wall decorations; sadly, many have had moisture damage. It's a must when visiting Paris.
MAGNIFIQUE!
No words, what a GREAT organ!

Stunning!
nice echo
There's recitals and there's the organs of Paris and its traditions. Different kettle of fish. St Eustache organ is a beastie!
Incredible sound. Does anyone know the piece being played at the beginning?

Organs scare people 'out' of church. The loudest that should ever happen is Gregorian chant . . . and distant.
This concert isn't a church service. Only people who love the pipe organ will be there. One of the most beautiful sounds in the world!
cette video me fait peur
