Why is this not viral? This is touching. Stories like this remind me to love my country more. If other nationalities can come here and see an opportunity to build their dreams, why can't we? siargao is lucky to have people like them who are willing to invest in the local community.
I have been to Roots months ago and their food service is superb! Well thought-out yung food, they are not pretentious and they are passionate in introducing new ingredients sa culinary scene ng Philippines. I hope they grow more in the future and keep the spirit of commitment and experimentation in their dishes.

what do you mean ignore? im from surigao and we don't ignore these, they just presented them differently but to say ignore these Is not true because these things have been eaten and cultivated in that region for decades. maybe you are not aware of it but that's just because you are not from there.
Ah yes, the predictable Filipino inferiority complex. A lot of local entrepreneurs, chefs and restaurateurs put in the same amount of work and show the same amount of passion and creativity as the ones featured here, many of them are even on FEATR. Filipinos fawning over "foreign nationals" while downplaying the achievements of the countless local talents will never not be funny. No need to bring down your own people while glazing foreigners. Be better.
Madalas talaga ang dayuhan pa ang mas nakaka-appreciate ng kung anong meron tayo sa Pilipinas. This is absolutely wild! As a filipino chef who left the Philippines to expand my network abroad. I left Philippines thinking it would be great to expand my knowledge abroad, but watching all these videos makes me wanna go back. I am incredibly proud of how the team cultivated a unique, smart and nostalgic take on the Filipino culture! The concept is very reminiscent of the culture in Noma!! I hope to visit the restaurant when I come and visit Siargao. 👏🏻
Amazing cinematography for a documentary. I love how the storytelling of a person from a clip were passed to another person in different clip, connecting their storytelling. It was amazing! Not to forget how creative and beautiful the font design used in the title of the chapters. A work of art!
Wow these are very hardworking, talented and conscious entrepreneurs capitalizing on Filipino produce! I will definitely visit them when i go to Siargao!
Erwan has truly mastered the craft of storytelling through his videos on RUclips. Featuring the beautiful people, culture and food of the Philippines makes me proud to love it all the way from Canada. Congratulations on the success Erwan
This video beautifully captures the essence of cinematic storytelling! The use of lighting and composition is truly breathtaking, and each shot feels meticulously planned to evoke emotion and immerse the viewer. The camera movements are smooth and purposeful, enhancing the narrative without distracting from it. Truly a visual masterpiece!
Siargao may be small and provincial, but there’s actually a lot of potential in places like this if approached thoughtfully. With the island’s unique appeal, especially for eco-tourism and sustainability-minded visitors, creative and sustainable businesses can thrive. A small, community-oriented business that respects the island’s natural beauty and caters to the unique needs of both locals and visitors can make a lasting impact. Dreams don’t have to be "big" in the conventional sense to be meaningful or successful. Starting small with locally inspired ideas can often lead to greater personal satisfaction and community support.
See. Philippines is an agriculture country, and people like Analyn and RJ needs support from the government or local investors so it could be sustained, which produces livelihood for the community.
Wonderful episode fabulously using Pinoy ingredients! I love that the group is conscientious about helping local farmers in the island!❤Thank you for this, FEATR!

I love how they’re not only trying to make money thru their business but how much passion, dedication and inspiration they put into their project for the success not only of the business but of everyone involve from roots to blooms. Indeed, “The Roots” speak for itself. What a great concept. Great people, with great minds. More power to them and the locals involve on this venture.
Impressive is an inadequate word to describe this episode. This restaurant alone is pushing me to look for flights to Siargao on this extended vacation of mine! Can't wait to experience ROOTS! Kudos FEATR!

So fascinating that European Peruvians have decided to set up a restaurant in Siargao. I have been to Peru and its a wonderful country to visit with many good restaurants.
With a great pedigree - Central in Peru - is considered one of the best restaurants in the world today, I hope this gets noticed by global food reviewers. To Michelin reviewers, maybe it's about time to pay the Philippines a visit?

This warms my heart as a Filo living overseas, but sad at the same time as this shows how rich our culture is when it comes to cuisine, that our ingredients are as versatile as the others, it’s sad that it has got to a state whereas we need foreigners for us to appreciate what we have and we seek outside and crave for other countries way of living.
Cool group of young restaurateurs. They seem very passionate. I love that they've worked in obscure locations around the world and kind of assemble in random places like Oceans 12 to open up shop. 😂 With Siargao being the new hotspot of Asia, I'm sure they will be busy everyday.
Just to add, the restaurant they came from in Peru, Central, was named World’s Best Restaurant in 2023. They are bringing so much talent and experience, and yet they are so humble and so appreciative of what we have here. Ate there last year, the food was sublime yet unpretentious. It blew us all away.
