Thanks to the remarkable Father Mark Nicholls, who aside from being generous with his time - is also gifted with a dry wit - that (you'll hear) tickled me no end.
Externally very similar to my Parish Church,St Mary Battersea. I once co-led a walk along the foreshore at Rotherhithe along with an archaeologist friend...he pointed out the relicts of the ship-building and -breaking trades, including timbers from old vessels used to buold barge-beds...
Thanks! There's more where that came from - check out the Mayflower at Rotherhithe ruclips.net/video/3XVFYXyqZSA/видео.html - and more next week. Do subscribe - I'm hoping to do more in your area soon.
As you go in the cemetery on your left hand side behind the cast iron fencing. Is the grave with 3 pig's heads carved into it.🐷🐷🐷 Ofa witch apparently. The legendary myth goes like this. If you run around her grave 3 times at midnight she will haunt you. 😊🧙♀️🪄👻 ✨ 🪦✨👻 🧹🧙😮
I like this one. The rector had a great sense of humour and that curt note of a man who doesn't suffer fools lightly. I thought perhaps from Nottinghamshire or maybe Lancashire, but I may now have offended him greatly 😂
It has a terrific and very historic organ - but there was no organist available on the day to really show it in detail. If I can fix something up, and you viewers want it - I'll try to go back.
What a fascinating journey through a beautiful church.
And don't forget the nice pub next door
Fr Mark was Vicar of my parish which is St Andrew's Wigan for three years in the 1990's.
So nice to see and hear him again.
Plenty more videos on the channel with Fr Mark!

I love finding out about interesting churches this way. St Mary Battersea looks a delight.
Really interesting stuff. Loved the Temeraire chair. Also featured two of my phobias - heights and big church bells.
Hopefully more coming on the bells soon! Sorry for any triggering :-(
I do it so you don't have to...,
Loved this one Alun. The Rector was hilarious 😂
Yes - Fr Mark was brilliant - more next week.
I'm obsessed with history on my manor, Bermondsey. Love this video thanxXxyou 💖 xXx

I'll leave it to Fr Mark to confirm or deny his heritage - I do know he was great fun to interview.
He's from Lancashire....Haydock, which is now Merseyside (just)
St James the Great Haydock was his home church as l recall ...but could be wrong?
Be nice to see the stained glass a bit more.
Thanks - I like the stained glass bits too - I will double down.
? Organ ? - no mention of an argan. As an ex-choristoer very Church has an organ - so why no mention rere??

Why aren’t more buildings upside down boats? Housing crisis solved?
Ah - but then think about the boating crisis!
