Because to that little girl...Aibileen is her mother, not Elizabeth. Elizabeth was never around, Aibileen was, so naturally Mae thinks Aibileen is mother. Sadly, Aibileen had to show her that she wasn't by walking away. You know why so many white people wanted black people to have their rights and freedoms? Because of people like Aibileen showing them that there's nothing that separates a black person from a white person then a single color. They were more like family to them then their own family. Can you blame them? I certainly wouldn't want to call Hiliary as a family member.
My great grandmother was born in 1911 her grandmother was born into slavery as well. That put 4 generations between me and slavery🤪, and the sad part is that I'm apart of the first generation in my family to be born with all of my rights.
Elizabeth cared more about social conformism than about her own daughter. Meanwhile, Charlotte acknowledged her bad behaviour with Constantine to Skeeter. I guess one day, Elizabeth will have this kind of conversation with Mae Moble.
Social conformism is all she K ew. It's what provided her a husband so she could eat and what she thought her children needed to do to survive. If you read the book Elizabeth is a very complex bullied character and has never been encouraged or supported herself. She is not a great beauty and is put down for it. You got to have empathy for the villains of a story too.
Beautiful stories. Discrimination has been with the human race for our entire existence. We may not be able to eradicate it completely, but we can limit it as much as possible. That makes me happy. I was born into a society where our government in the UK says that there are laws protecting who you want to be. I'm proud of that but I don't like people dictating how our lives and roles in society should be played. This film is an example of how far we've come and how incredibly far we need to go, as an international society.
Discrimination is still in the law books that haven’t been changed nor will it ever change as long as you keep the same ones in power they keep you where you’re at !!!
The first question wasn’t heartbreaking. Because of what she said after: “*God Says We Need To Love Our Enemies. It may be hard to do, but you can start by telling the truth...*” “Once I started telling the truth about that, I felt free”... Anyone can relate to that statement. To that releasing feeling of being free.
i LOVE this movie, every single part! i cried thru out almost the whole thing. how that abilene girl loves her so much, hearing her yell for her. oh damn, where is the kleenex???
Poor baby man 😪 I pray for any child going thru things like that STILL! Many parents don’t want to get up to change diapers and my heart breaks for any child being neglected by their PARENT 🥺🥺 JESUS
It truly is sad. All the opportunities and endless possibilities of doing whatever you wanted just thrown out for Afro Americans. They couldnt do anything just be maid/servants all day. Missed out so much in life with only having a dream in their mind all day.. 🙏🏿
They only give Oscar's to black women if they play maids or servants to this day& black ppl still get shot down as animals by racist cops& domestic terrorists now!

Considering everything that was said, I'm assuming probably not. At least until Mae Moble grows up and hopefully decides to go live with Aibeleen. I hope she does.
Did some of the actors won an award for this film, or simply it's because the jury of the award giving bodies were also white and can't take it, and that's why nobody from this film got a recognition... 🤔🤔🤔
That little girl banging the windows and crying makes me cry. The mother is so incompetent and Aibileen is so kind and motherly
Beautiful Abileen
They made the mother more human here than the book.

Torianah Bias Devastating. So heartbreaking
Torianah Bias same
That scene kills me every time.
Listened to the audiobook and heard the voice actor do Mae's voice when it came to this scene. I broke down to tears.
That little girl is a very good actor for her age.
That baby screaming for her was the hardest part of this movie. That poor baby. Poor Abeline

My grandma told me of how they would egg the buses when they started busing our people to "their" schools.
What? 1911 wasn’t slavery..
@@lordvoldemort5725 correct? The mother of the grandmother born in 1911 was a slave
Cati I know that, but he said that puts four generations between him and slavery.
Oh wait I know what he saying. He’s nevermind lol

No one should be treated less than their character deserves.

I think Mae Mobily would be a younger Skeeter! You is kind, you is smart, you is important would be in her mind!
Aibileen would have been 109 years old in the year of the corona.
Or dead.
Viola Davis is a gem
O som da voz da Viola desperta emoções em mim que eu ainda não havia acessado. Uma voz profunda, calorosa e envolvente. Emoção que vaza pelos olhos.
This was my great grandmother’s story, grandmother’s during tough times she had to take me with her I didn’t understand. Hindsight is 20/20.
I get chills everytime at the ending this movie so powerful and the song they used for the end credits was just the icing on the cake ❤

Did aibi and the little girl ever meet again?
As far as I remember from the book's epilogue, no.
Aibileen properly said goodbyes to May Mobley (the toddler) already in earlier scene

How could a mother do that to her daughter she knows she can't look after them
