I really love Dolores. I have sensory issues and noise is my worst one. I hear and notice every little noise playing all at once and it's exhausting so it's really nice to see someone who uses it as a super power.
I can also relate to the squeaks because I interpreted them as a kind of stim!

fun fact: there's a deleted scene of Encanto where Mirabell, Agustin and Felix is cleaning each family's room (not Abuelas room...) and there we can get a glimps of Dolores's room. It's full of chemistry thingy ( I don't know what it's called, English is not my language).
I was thinking that her room was like, covered in soundproofing like a studio. I wish we at least saw inside everyone's room.

Yeah I feel like her power kinda breaks the plot with all the secrets going around that she keeps her mouth shut about: Alma expressing fear and worry that the magic is crumbling before it was obvious to anyone but Mirabel, hell just the noise of the cracks, Bruno living in the walls, Isabel and Luisa feeling trapped and pigeonholed. Really makes you wonder about Dolores.
Maybe she knew but didn't want to bring it up for fear of upsetting the family?
I like to think that, right after bruno 'disappeared' little dolores ran to abuela and said she could still hear him, and was ignored. Then, she went to talk to her mom, but Pepa was hurt and starting to bottle up all her feelings about his brother, and just said 'we dont talk about bruno'. So, dolores just got used to hear her tío and it wasn't actually a secret anymore, because she DID tell people about him, they just didn't believe her

I really wish at some point of the movie, Dolores was happy to not hear everything. We did some scenes with her being surprised at the town coming to help and her singing loudly but she didn't show any dread about receiving her 'gift' back. I wanted to see her more relieved and maybe even falling asleep peacefully.
Considering she's had that gift since the age of five, she's probably used to it and might have actually felt it was eerily quiet without it.

It is very weird that hearing this one secret was her breaking point instead of, you know, Bruno secretly living in the walls of her home for 15 years.
Tbf, Bruno wasn’t really doing much, while Mirabel and her father were discussing their house falling apart, and everyone losing their powers.

What I really like the personality choice for her character is that she is down-to-earth and does mind others' businesses. With her power, she could be easily be made into that crazy annoying family member who loves gossips all day and causes a lot of problems. Like a lot of movie/show tropes do.
Imagine how weird it would be when the power goes out- like everything is silent for Dolores- just out of the blue
