I myself am a Alcoholic but going on for 6 years Sober is not easy Every day I have to think positive can not let my Guard down at any time but is a bloody good life with out beer Bill
Bill, congrats on your sobriety. Any tips for what helped you stop?
@@stardressedsky3872 yes nearly lost everything my marriage grandchildren plus I was arguing with my wife and general up setting everybody so I thought regather then carry on so I stop but the last time I had a drink nearly killed me with the whiskey so now I have a fantastic life building a model railway and thinking positive thoughts every day so let’s hope this as help people out there but I am thinking about writing a book on it Bill
@billmore1936 Hi bill, i am watching this bid to help a very good friend of mine. He is going theough a relap. Is there some advice you can give to me to help my friend. He is going through a hard time. His wife is about to leave him ( already left home ) we just feel very helpless and trying to be there for him any help would be appreciated
@@sinansavas6177 the way I see it is this you have to be very hard on your self and keep positive and think you are hurting your love one’s as need them to pull you thoroug it keep going Bill
Research The Sinclair Method. Abstinence is NOT the only way.
There’s nothing more sad than watching a relative drink themselves slowly to death. Alcohol is a nasty drug. There’s nothing you can do if one’s relative has no desire to quit, nothing.
Am dealing with this with my brother
Useful strategies provided. Thank you for this video.
@@willywanka8936 I and sisters are in same situation as well our elderly mother. And he's always had an attitude and a hypocrite and more seen now. So puts us in the position of not wanting to assist, lend guidance in any form or fashion. Quite a dilemma we are all put in. I leave it our creator above.
me too!@@willywanka8936
Alcoholism is a nasty disease, like any disease if it’s left long enough it’s becomes chronic and you it eventually kills you, catch
It early there’s a chance , it’s a sly Fox it creeps up fast , once the brain chemistry is altered it becomes very hard to manage, not something everyone can fight , it’s a demon, the alcoholic suffers horribly, as does all those that loves them .
Addicted for 11 years ,thank God for saving me ,I was able to stop ,because I changed my location , perhaps if I go back I might start all over again , terrible experience ,because I keep having headaches loss of appetite alot, been active with exercise help slow the damage
How did you stop addiction. I have a friend thats goijg through this?
I have alcohol problem and i can say that this video is true!!! i have problems with high blood pressure and hearth problems and it will kill me if i don't seek help thx for great video
tough love is part of the answer. Often bailing people out of trouble including financial trouble just enables them to suffer longer.
Not with alcohol. Your people suffering from alcoholism doesn’t need “tough love”, you’ll be enabling him by HURTING them. They need a lot of support. Make sure you they know you love them and you’re there, you’re not going to let them fall. Talk to them about what’s really got them, because alcoholism is a symptom of a greater problem they have.
Thank you to you both for this very informative video. Dr. Anand, I particularly found your four “Cs” were spot on.
He seem very kind doctor
I left him and now am filing for a divorce, 26 years of alcoholism/marriage, severe stage heavy drinking every night, lost jobs, in a basement somewhere renting a room.
I continue to offer a life line but I cannot live with the drinking. He blames me.
i went to the ER many times. never did rehab. alcohol will end up consuming you and everything in your life and it wont stop. ruin relationships, any kind of financial status your at, your health. it'll ruin everything man.
Very useful information want to know more about the addiction recovery
I am dealing with this situation with a loved one who is in serious denial. He cannot hold a job, is squatting in an abandoned house, forgets to eat during binges, gets aggressive, etc. It is bad, but half the family are enablers, others are scared to get involved, and the few like me, don't know what to do. If someone even mentions rehab, it provokes a reaction like WW3!
This should be on Australian tv hourly. For real. 😢
My relative had relapsed into binge drinking 3 times in 5 months and now they done it again and have been going at it since last week. I'm so tired of their impulsiveness and lack of self control that I just don't care anymore, because there's notning I can do and I'm not going to baby an adult so they can come back to their senses. I'm DONE
I’m in trouble with booze. I hate myself 😢
All the best to you
i feel like that too man, hang in there, we can do it
One day at a time
You should be proud that you care enough about yourself to start watching videos and not quitting on yourself by completely refusing to accept there’s an issue. This is a win and self love ❤
@nosajkrad I don’t hate you, I hope you can find peace going forward, I’ll pray for you
You cannot make anyone stop drinking or want to stop. Watch person in family household stumbling drunk every night. It's like they want us to see them drunk and there is nothing we can do. Why do they drink? Because they want to.
they don't want you to see them drunk, they just don't care
@@royharper2003 When they are drunk they don't care because they don't know what they are doing. Once they sober up the do care and are sorry, embarrassed and regretful.
Sadly it’s almost impossible to help someone with alcohol unless they are willing to help themselves, I lost my nephew last week he passed away from liver failure, he was 44yr
We all tried to help him but it was of no use, he kept drinking up until the very end,
I’m sorry for your loss. Unfortunately help is for those who want it, not those who need it. 😢
Yes there is try and talk to them make them see sense is worth a only when they not a drink

Just can’t believe my Child’s father beat my dad up … he said he “blacked out”
I’m sorry that happened
Im living in a houseshare with a potential alcoholic so its not ideal 😞
How do you deal with it?
@@monicak8195 i had to move out man, have you got the same situation? He was harassing me aswell
Try taking to them when they have not had a drink I was like this once over with help from my friends and family I turn life around you can only do your best
@@billmoore1936 i moved out i dont have time for it, he was harassing me aswell, waste of space
@@1Strawbz1 so you are a lot happy now then and you can get on with your life Bill
Just do what I did. I was drinking every night and then one day I just said no more. That was over 5 years ago and I haven't died (LOL) . People keep telling me you should to go to counselling or AA and I tell them I'm my own counsellor so get lost. Staying away is not a big deal and I don't even drink when the lads(Leafs) or Argos are playing and that used to be mandatory.
Not everyone is like you, unfortunately.
@@leahmay1506 Why?
@@gdavho8778 I really have to explain why not everyone is like you? Lol. Not everyone can quit cold turkey. That’s life. If everyone was able to easily quit and “just say no more”, no one would be in this mess. For a lot of people, it takes much more than simply saying “no more.” Congrats to you though, no doubt.
@@leahmay1506 Yes I know but what?
I mean this is what I’m trying but I know it’s not the best route. I know I need therapy to get to the root of why I drink to suppress things. Though I get how a strong personal motive may be enough to stop
a nice dr yes..but so much of the interview was not on topic...topic being how to help...only a few points at the end on that.. most of it is about what addiction is..not ialit on how to help ehich is
My stepfather not even my real bio dad but my stepfather, was analholic, and he went through barely any trauma, and he went on to keep a roof over our heads and everything else money but he abused us in everyway he stole money from mom, and got booted out, and booted out of multiple, and went to jail 5 times, if he going to say that alcohol did it to him, yah no makes no sense whatsoever, no yo did that to your self, don't blame a substance, you chose to to do this.
is it weird watching it when i drink beer :D?
Very Poor sound clean it up please - from the Dr side really frustrating. This could be very useful. Post .
