Goal for the year is to save money to put down payment on a house
I'm playing violin in an orchestra, so my goals right now are to be a good leader of my section and find joy in my daily practice! :)
My goals/dreams for the year are to start my masters in clinical mental health counseling, take more risks in my faith and see what God will do with it, and buying a house
Goals: send a daily whatsapp message to my best friend saying what was the best and worst moments of my day; learning to play the piano; write more. These were in January and I am not doing them as often as planned, but I am still doing them!
I remember when my dad renovated our 130 year old home and decided to remove the wallpaper going up the stairs to the second floor. There ended up being 10 or so layers, because all of the previous owners would just layer new on top of old rather than remove the old. What I loved seeing, even as a kid, were the styles, colors and patterns that had been en vogue over that 130 year period. It was the most fascinating visual lesson in historical art and aesthetics! Number four is my personal favorite 🤗Initially I was thinking number one, but I'd imagine getting tired of the floral etching with time
My husband and I are carpenters and have a very small restoration company in Ohio. We are currently restoring our 1903 brick colonial home in a small suburb and then once it sells we will begin restoring our large 1895 Victorian farmhouse! We live for what this video is and I love seeing this side of your life! Please keep up updated! I’ll be waiting!

I love your reasoning for option 1 because you mentioned honoring the original time period of the house. My husband found an amazing quote once that I can never remember!! But essentially it’s saying that when restoring a home of any sort you have to consider the architect and original owner’s intent and their style. Totally redoing and replacing the style to match what you like is ruining the original vision for the house. And we kind of base our decisions off that! Glad to see you are keeping with the style. We always say if you buy an old home you better not be intending to remodel it…you better restore it! Otherwise go get yourself a 1980s home lol
Also though on those lines…I agree with the wallpaper. We both love to wear blue but hate it in our home. We are a creamy white, warm tan, sage greens, and warm pinks kind of crew over here!
Have fun restoring. Please (I’m being legit here) reach out if you have any questions on restoring things yourself. Windows are our speciality. We restored our entire 1903 home full of windows that were so near death they were rotted halfway up! Windows are the lens of your home. They have to glow!
I think you picked option 2 to go with the Art Deco details of your house?! They are all beautiful no matter what and I think I’d be tempted by the first one! Please more home Reno content! You have the most lovely house!
#2 would be my choice. #4 for softer and more neutral style.
My biggest goals are being healthy again, doing sports again, going on with updating my wardrobe, maybe going on vacation and having a new dog❤ thank you Bethany for your style course it is still a big help to me❤
"2" for the art deco style, architectural pattern (with a nod toward fashion with the pinstripe reference) and repetition of vertical lines which are repeated in the stairs and other areas of the home but if light is truly the main priority then possibly "4". Even if I guessed wrong, this was fun! We have decided to downsize and customize our dream home. My current goal is figuring out the best location for that to happen.
I would go for number 2, and I also think that's the one you went for. The unboxing was great, it probably showed us some things that we would not have seen otherwise, but I prefer when you put outfits together and explain your thought behind it. 🙂 And anything you do to your house, I would love to see that too!

As a curvy 5' nothing in the UK, I'm usually just happy if something fits having grown up in the 80s, but watching your videos has got me thinking about how I want to change things up as I move into my mid 40s. Some architects think that beeing able to know what has been done new to the house and when is better than making people think it has been there forever.... for the first idea I would choose option 2 and for the idea of looking like it has been there forever, option 4. Hello! Oh my goodness. Your home is absolutely glorious. My dream is to live in an old home someday, and, I haven’t gone back into your list of videos, but did you guys ever put out a video about pros and cons of living in a historic home? Or how you went about deciding if this was the right home? Did you have a special historic home inspector? I’m really trying to talk to my husband into loving the idea!
It certainly took a while for us to choose the right one! We had a meticulous inspector
#1 for the glass. Has the local Library got a local history section that would give you a background to your home and perhaps lead you to the decor of the era as a guideline?
They know the architect but strangely they don’t have a record of the first owner. Isn’t that odd?
@@bethanyleonardo perhaps it was before records began? I am in UK so there are deeds and before that land registry, though as my house is 500 years old there is not much info.
