If you can run pcie gen 4 and have the money go for the 5600, if you have an old 300-400 series motherboard and still running under Ryzen 5 2600 then upgrade to the 5500. I upgrade my Ryzen 5 1600 AF this week to the 5500 and its a massive performance increase. I went from playing 110-150 fps cs 2 to 270-300fps and dota 2 went from 80-110fps to 180-220 fps. I can also now run xmp on 4 ram sticks of 8GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16. The memory controller is far better than 1st and 2nd gen ryzen and not so sensitive to speeds. So if you have 2x8GB sticks of ram and want 4 stick in the future while still be able to use xmp get the 5500.

These are mine: Geekbench 6.3: 1955/8690, Passmark 1.1: 3120/20492. Timespy CPU: 7961, Cinebench R23 Multi: 10624, R24 Multi: 607, R24 Single: 84 Btw I've just upgraded to the 5500 from 1600x and it's a massive difference. :)

The 5500 in its own respect at 100 dollar that you can find them are not bad at all. I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 1600 AF this week to the Ryzen 5 5500 and i got lots of fps more. I also had bad 1% and .1% low and could not run 4 ram sticks in xmp while the Ryzen 5 1600 af gave my bottleneck of up to 20-40% on my RTX 3050. All of that is fixed and more and the cpu upgrade only cost me 100 dollars where the 5600 cost 175-185 dollars.

How do you keep your cpu temps so low. I have a 280mm cpu liquid cooler on top of my case with fans blowing during winter(now) and my cpu goes to 50-60C. The cpu liquid cooler is only a couple of months old.
