- Warning: I talk quite frankly about smear tests, cancer, surgery, vaginas, & everything in between.
In this video, I talk about my experiences with cervical screening and what happened when I had abnormal results. 1 out of 3 people don't have their screening because of fear of embarrassment. I hope my story can encourage more people to book their test today - need a reason? It might just save your life.
Big big thanks to the NHS for their amazing work, they were amazing and I am truly grateful.

I just had my smear test this week and it was the first time I’ve ever been told about HPV (I’m in my 50s). So it thought I would check out some videos. Thankyou for sharing your story. I must admit that when you welled up I was balling my eyes out with you. Then you said you was all clear and I really felt your relief. Best of luck for the future.

Bless you for sharing your story, I had the exact same results and treatment 2 years ago. Thankfully, I also got the all clear too 🙏🙏 Smear test are preventive, it takes 10 plus years for cin3 to progress to cancer, giving us time to stop it🥰🥰 I am now anxious about my next smear test, but regardless of my anxiety I know how important it is to book it. Oh Lucy! Your story was exactly my story 20 (ahem!) years ago. I’m pleased to say all smear tests since my treatment have been clear. Getting your smear test done is so very, very important. I hate to think where I’d be, or not, if I hadn’t gone.
Turn to Jesus He loves you very much, He is the God of miracles, i was ill for a long time, but the doctors couldn't really help me, i don't blame them there was only so much that they could of done for me, Then Jesus gave me a miracle and healed me, God has done amazing things in my life and in the life's of people i know and love, He can do the same for you and yours, When you need Him call on Him, The bible tells us in Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, He is the God of comfort and will be there for you when you call on Him, He will protect you, God saved someone i love from an illness leading to death, There is nothing impossible to God, Its as simple as accepting Jesus, and Trusting Him for your Salvation, He is the healer of the body and Saviour of our souls, And if you truly seek Him Jesus will answer you, i know this because He answered me when i called out to Him,

At least your not worried like hell not known if or not or not being detected because your dr refered you to your local hospital a year and a half and like me I’m still waiting.

I’m 36 and I’m currently awaiting biopsy results. I’ve had ongoing signs and symptoms since the start of this year - bleeding between periods, back pain, pain during sex and sometimes bleeding after etc. Went to my gp who saw something on my cervix and the gynaecologist specialising in cancer couldn’t be sure what it was either- this was just during an examination so he took a biopsy.. been two weeks now.. getting nervous! I’m so glad you had your all clear! Best news ever! Xxx

Ladies! Don't defer! It's such a short procedure and can literally be life saving. 💜
I am terrible I rip them up as soon as I recieve one and say a few choice words 🙈 can't help it
Think of those been waiting a year and half and are worries about the cancer word and get the nhs doe makeing me wait so long outing my life in danger.
I went for a colposcopy 5 yrs ago and the last thing she said was if the hpv is still there next yr we will "burn it off" I never went back 🙈 that terrified me nope nope nope
@@lisalewis1977 in been waiting a year and a half for my smear test I’m e0 years old from central Scotland uk, I make sound like the feign world biggest winger right now lol, but that nit because I’m mean, alow I know what the smear test is they say I’m still on the list but they don’t tell me where I am on the list, I am a book lover and I have planes for my future and converting my parents room when they die into a home library, the gynaecologist say I’m still on the list due to covid that no one follows the rules and cares about anaway, and I’m worried by constantly waiting I might end up with cervical cancer endangering my life throwing my planes out the window when I have a lot of things to do in life, I, not scared to die or when I’m just not ready to die, I work in st Vicente hospice charity shop, I can keep secrets, I don’t ease drop I have good hearing, of all the madness going on and the thinks I hear in that hospice, and all these death happening makes me worried,so I surly as hell all this hassle I wouldn’t cancel anything. Plus you should red Ken folletts never book it’s about the possibility of an apending third world war, and with Russia and Ukrainian war going on and this madness going on that book is worth a read, and honestly why reading books keep me sane some of them make you think of what is going on now is to close to home, sometimes I get so depressed I could commit suacide but reading books physical on my iPad is and my parents which I’m closer to my mum than my dad, if it wasn’t that I’d have committed fwcking suacide ages ago, how does the drs burn something like this girl said she had from inside of you?
@@paulinetayloe9988 its called a leep or a letz its a hot wire that can burn off parts of your cervix I have since learnt 🙈 its barbaric to be honest

Thank you for the video and so glad that you’re ok now. I’m 35 and stupidly ignored that letter for ages. Eventually first time I went to the GP for smear test a month ago. Received the letter afterwards and I need to go to hospital for biopsy as there is something to investigate further. It was a real shock as I wasn’t expecting this result at all. I will attend the appointment in two weeks and now hoping that the things go well 🙏🏼

Thank you for this. I am 23 and have never gotten tested or had a pap smear or any sort of physical exam in my private region. I am going to make an appointment tomorrow. I'm trying not to stress out. Thank you!

Thank you 💜 I'm 25 and have been getting my regular exam and have actually had some pretty terrible experiences (results fine, doctors/practitioners horrible). And this time I got up the courage to find a new OB/GYN (which after my slew of terrible experiences was nerve wracking) and (actually had a friendly/respectful doctor) I got the news back positive for high risk abnormalities, so I have to have a colposcopy and biopsy and, I've been scared of the procedure and then what if I have CIN3 and have to have the LEEP/LLETZ or cone and will I be okay? Will I never be okay again and your story, I pray your story's reassurance eases me throughout this. I pray mine can end as happily as yours. I appreciate your video.

I had a screening about 5 yrs ago and then got told hpv and had to have a colposcopy then got told if it is not gone next year then she said "we will burn it off" I didn't know anyone back then having any of this and it terrifies me , so I never went back , I have panic attacks and terrible anxiety about anything to do with down there as it is , I was talking about this horrible topic with a friend earlier and had nervous tummy no.2's and fgs I'm not even going for one , I have just gone back onto my happy pills today so might book one when my head is a bit better but would only be doing it for my sons sake1

im 24 and just been invited by a letter to have my smear test I wont be having my smear test done till im 25 in April that will be the right time for me to have it done I think its very important to get your smear tests done as it gives you piece of mind its better than dying from cancer at a young age and lots of women should never ignore the letter its nothing to be embarrassed about im getting mine done when I turn 25 in April next year I would never ignore a letter like this I know some women dont have smear tests done because they say there embarrassed dont worry its a health check up its only done every 3 years for 25 year olds to 40s them every 5 years for 49 to 64 year olds

It is impossible for me to have one as I have Lichens and vaginismus everything is closing up and shrinking so nothing will go in. 😢
And when I did have the last one 8 years ago I screamed in agony and kicked the gynae specialist.
Since then everything has shrunk more. 😢😢

I’m 28 and I’ve not had a Pap smear test.. my sister is 30 in a few months and she hasn’t either.
I’m mostly afraid of the pain or getting an infection...

I can't stress enough how little pain there was - I wouldn't even call it pain, just a slight discomfort, just like you have a slight discomfort when you have injection or something.
I would love to encourage both you and your sister to go and get your pap test ASAP, honestly it's so so important - the unfortunate truth is, you could be living with cervical cancer without knowing, When you catch early signs with a pap smear, you could save your own life. That HAS to be worth 10 seconds of discomfort? Let me know if you want to chat more but I urge you to get yours booked in, I promise it's no where near as scary as you think! xxxx
@@lucymaywalker You are right, girls usually have no pain but if you have a problem with your vagina, or it is too small you can have huge pain. I am having an ablation procedure on my cervix under anesthesia because on simple Pap smear i almost faint evrrytime because of vaginal pain. So it not for evrryone without pain.

I had my first ever smear at 19.. why they’ve changed the age is annoying. I’ve never missed one.. I’m now 37.. all came back clear except for last year.. I had HPV and abnormalities, they didn’t proceed with any tests just to rebook another smear in 12 months, well here we are 12 months later and I still have HPV and now high grade dyskaryosis (severe) how can I go from slight abnormalities to the highest grade? Why wouldn’t they do tests a year ago just to check everything out? I’m confused and worried.

I’m from central Scotland iv been waiting a year and a half for my smear test and I’m still waiting I phones up and they said due to covid and I’m still on the list, I’m sick of excuses I don’t believe them there only takeing emergency what so make me wait longer till I end up with cervical cancer is the only way to get the smear test done and endanger my life when I should be getting that smear test so to detect it, and if I get that cancer I’ll sue the nhs for not giving me that test sooner and makeing me wait when otheres are skiping the cue takeoff the place of otheres and the nhs is allowing it causeing mw to be worried and depressed.

Never had the test. They tried but it was too painful and they had to stop and never tried again. We are to start getting them yearly at 21 but I'm 39 and never had it done.
WTF go get it done!!! take some painkillers before or just bear with the pain because you need to get checked
@@elyssarose6950 of course she has the right to refuse, but it is incredibly foolish to do so, as it is such a simple test that only takes a few minutes which can literally save your life. People who refuse then later on find out they have stage 4 cervical cancer regret not getting it done years earlier. And for what, a few minutes of pain or terminal cancer ?

I think cancer checks smear tests should always come before covid. I had my smear test today. I’ve had a few I’m 46
Do you know iv been referred to the dr to my local hospital form a smear test a year and a half and I’m worried sick they might not detect it in time and I might have cancer I don’t know I’m till waiting on that test they never tell me how far I’m on that list they should have people on that list who like me are vulnerable and waiting 1 year and a half up the list and people who have been waiting shorter down the list instead of the other way around, build more hospitals train more people in colleges and university and give everyone the opportunity to get more potential staff, but they don’t, and people who have the smear test and results and are acting like they don’t care about innocent life’s being cut in half because not being detected in time, I apologise for being negative but I don’t whant to die and I am not sphycic.

The whole idea is to create panic in women mention cancer as much as possible get them in do invasive procedures,charge them .Then tell them to come back in a year ,charge them also create more worries.Money making medical procedures using same logic you would spend all your time in drs offices get heart lungs blood work brain scans et etc sure they are all important but so is living without fear of cancer
I don’t think smears should be delayed at all.
,pelvic exams are not necessary unless your actually having a problem down there, ,paps hurt , I refuse them, they are not necessary, ,you can still have a pelvic exam done without a pap smear., they are 2 different things, some women dont know that ,,I tell the doc no pap ,thats my choice, the medical industry just wants you to think their nesassary ,its a big money maker for them
I found out I was cheated and got hpv through a Pap smear life saver there I highly recommend it.
