After the war, when a reporter asked Simo, if he felt anything shooting at the Russian soldiers, he answered in a very Finnish (black humor) way: "Recoil". Badass to the core.
No, that is a bad meme that people started after videos about him came out. Simo never bragged like that. He simply would have said he did what he was asked, as good as he could.
I’m pretty sure he hated the fact he had killed over 500 people and getting popularity about it. But he did what he was ordered to do, and succeeded. Doing so saved our country. As a Finn I think people who fought on Kollaa and other places in winter war would agree.

the video has a lot of misleading stuff as the pictures and animations in the video shows, but main stuff is most likely correct. 505 CONFIRMED kills, simo himself said it was probably near 600 kills with his rifle, also there was 250+ kills with suomi KP (smg) for some facts: he put snow in his mouth so the breath wont be shown to the enemy, as well as he didnt use scope because his head would be much higher than with iron shights AND scope could have reflected the sun glare to the enemy and make them to spot him easily. many enemy snipers did this and well... it did not end well for them :D there is whole book of life of Simo Häyhä. it is well worth buying and reading it :)
Well its kinda obvious the videos and pictures wouldnt be accurate but sad that they didnt use more accurate pictures of like say an soumi mp instead of the american mg. Sadly all videos on utube on Häyhä has this the exakt same info but also some disinformation that change here and there.
To add; Häyhä wasn't likely hit by a sniper but a soviet infantryman, since he and his unit were counterattacking and engaged with the enemy in almost close quarters.
Hit from a DP-27 to the jaw would definitely blow his face off easily. Some of these facts are questionable since they make the story more interesting.
He was at defensive counter when he was hit. It was not a sniper but some unknown soldier who was shooting at horizon and got lucky. No-one is credited for hitting Häyhä.
A lot of what did still lives; especially in artic environments; the guy was undisputable talented but the hide & move especially on skies has defined most artic training; aside from thermals.
It is a bit controversial what's the real number of Soviet troops he wiped off eventually since he wasn't keen to brag with his achievements and he was mostly alone in his positions. With this knowledge nothing can't be taken away from Häyhä, vice versa he is very appreciated here in Finland even nowadays. 🤘😎🇫🇮💙💯
"What also didn't help the Soviets was, they lacked any officers with actual leadership skills" and that still rings true today. The Russian military is so unorganized and chaotic. Their blunders in Ukraine prove they STILL lack officer leadership. Putin likes to fling around the size of his army when making threats, or talk about how many nukes he has but won't ever admit to it being weak and vulnerable. Speaking on Nukes, their entire stockpile is comprised of cold war era technology. When he made threats to the US about using them, I don't think he understands how much money Americans pile into their Nuclear tech. It's scary to think about honestly. If a nuclear war ever broke out between the two countries, I would like to think the US has a frightening advantage. Sure Putin has thousands of old nukes in silos, but the US is said to have few, but much more powerful WMDs, meaning if they land a dozen on Russian soil, it's all over. Makes me happy I live no where near Russia or the US.
Because he was a 'nice old man with glasses'. The Winter War was madness. It was 'defend or die', 'hold or be annexed again'. There was no other choice. Simo Häyhä didn't go to war because he wanted to kill, because he hated or had aggression to vent - he went to war to defend his country from an invader, and 'did the best that he could' when he was told what to do. Afterwards, he went right back to being a humble farmer and hunter and dog-breeder, because that's what he was. Just an ordinary guy who happened to be a patriot and a great marksman.
What are you advertising this Hyahul? Do you know something about Ivan Kubertinov? this little man from Siberia is Evnek by nationality! won sniper duels against the best SS snipers!!! He has been a hunter since childhood. this is a legend! and this is not an sportman , like most snipers, he used shamanic technologies and meditation before each task!
I can type your language but i decide I won't. Simo would like it that way. So I type in Häyhä's own language. Häyhän nimen teurastus lontooks on kauheeta kuunneltavaa. Heyha, ei! se on Häyhä. Yleensä, kun meet johonkin maahan, sä yrität edes jotenkin matkia heitin kieltä. Mä oon kuullut liian monta kertaa näiltä iilimadoilta: "hei joku ei puhu englangia". Vittu mikä yllätys. Englannin kieliset maat ovat rankingissa montaako kieltä osaat, alimpina. UK, USA, Australia tasan yksi 1.
Finland here: Häyhä is pronounced as follows.every letter has to be pronounced, includinh H. ä is like the a in after, y is the like the y in oyster. It's absolutely not heihaa
Finland is a beautiful country, but you know it has serious winters when Russians start complaining ;) The exploits of the Finnish Air Force during the war is also an interesting story (needs a movie)
The sad part of this story is that after World War II, the Finnish communists started threatening Simo because of his wartime actions. He was so afraid that he hardly dared to live in his own house, preferring to stay at his parents' house and avoid large "crowd gatherings" for the rest of his life. Sad but true story :(
Squad of 31 against 4000 in that single spot; please check Winter War facts what really happened. 1 Finnish soldier always equals 10 russians; check the facts.
He said afterwards: I did what was told, the best I could.
"And if everyone else had not done the same, there would be no Finland."
"What did you feel when taking the lives of the invaders?"
"The recoil." - Simo Häyha
Simo the legend between 505 - 542 confirmed kills now that puts the movies into perspective
After the war, when a reporter asked Simo, if he felt anything shooting at the Russian soldiers, he answered in a very Finnish (black humor) way: "Recoil". Badass to the core.
No. He didn't. This has been around

yeah like the video says he used a submachine gun and they show footage of a machine gun :D

@@spoonzor1 He wasnt shot by sniper,he got shot by russian solder while shooting attacking enenys with mp.

He gave NO Fs!
Whats most impressive is the timeframe of 100 days, comparing to the others in history.
I think you guys would love the song about Simo by the Swedish band Sabaton, "White Death" Official Lyric Video
they were performing counterattack when Simo got shot, there was some Soviets that wouldn't give up and stood on their ground, one of them got Simo.
A lot of what did still lives; especially in artic environments; the guy was undisputable talented but the hide & move especially on skies has defined most artic training; aside from thermals.
Way they pronounce Häyhä's name would be written in finnish heihaa. makes me smile every time I hear it.

Mind you, he achieved all those kills with no scope.

crazy to look at a nice old man with glasses as the narrator tells you about his 500 confirmed kills

Nope it was not a sniper it happen in a close fight.
Ok
Hi ^^
Hello.
he had aimbot
The way the video explaining says Häyhä annoyes me sm lol
Or any other Finnish word
31 vs 4000 😅
400 troops, that's what they stood against the whole winter war!
4000 is what he and his squad stood up to. Not 400. He killed more than 400 ....
