After trying out my mini 2 se for the first time. I did so in my backyard. Grass a bit long, uneven ground. Instantly made me want a landing pad just so I always have a surface no matter grass conditions etc.
Without a landing pad, sand can get into motors while taking off or landing. I lost a 5 inch FPV because of sand getting into one of the motors. For a 5 inch, 150cm pad is necessary. Furthermore, you will need a portable blower to blow the motors clear of sand after each flight if take off/landing in dusty area.
Exactly what I came for, thanks now I’m buying one!

I was thinking not having a drone landing pad, until now

just bought my drone now i am about to buy a landing pad thank you for the information
Good idea to have one, keeps dust and debri from flying into drone motors, camera lenses, etc.
Very good review, I am new to the drone world and appreciate your knowledge and insight. Thank you.
thanks for all the info.
I learned this the hard way taking off from blacktop and concrete the hard way....I live near the beach so there's sand everywhere even on the grass
Do you need to try to level out underneath the landing pad for the drone to land?
No, just find a spot that's relatively level, drop it and stake it.
Thanks! Have you had to land your drone(s) on inclines very much? If so, which drone or drones are best at this?
Then why do you fly
