Ahhh I remember the good ole days, whena lightsaber was literally just a weapon, a personalized and customized weapon, but a weapon nonetheless, and Holocrons were gatekept by ai force spirits so not just anyone having a temper tantrum or doing yoga could access it.
I agree with every point you made and have had this thought myself. It’s one of those lore issues that wasn’t set in stone, yet is commonly used and important, so it tends to be like that Stan Lee quote for which superhero will win in a fight: “Whoever the writer wants to win”. My only thought (however I don’t think it provides a solution to the actual CONTINUITY issues you brought up) is that Vader would be able to open it as a former Jedi. There’s even that clip of Anakin opening a Jedi holocron. Great video man
i assumed they'd need a jedi to open the holocron and that one with balance in the force (light side) would be able to open a jedi holocron. The sith however exert their will over the force (dark side) and so a sith holocron can be opened by anyone with the will as the force doesn't have the same jurisdiction there. I don't think its that much of a plot hole if you follow that view and its consistent with the nature of the force in canon. They just need a jedi, doesn't have to be cal. And survivors are a dime a dozen so step 1. get holocron, step 2. find jedi survivor, kidnap, torture until they open it for you. And that would be why Trilla hadn't gotten the information yet. Some kinks in that but suspension of disbelief is a part of a lot of story telling and I don't need to suspend that much belief for it to work for me - biggest issue is Cal assuming they didn't get any info from it
Totally. Like I said, the rules about holocrons are fuzzy at best, but the implication from the game is that the Empire has some way to open it. If so, then his decision to destroy it without knowing is a weird one.
How has this not already popped off? Randomly in my feed, less than 1000 views, despite being pure gold.
Bro this is awesome, instantly subscribed. Keep making content it’s bound to blow up
I like the “check for face” theory, personally. It’s worked before.

1:12 Well even if 100 Jedi survived Order 66 that’s still a 99% success rate
