  • I demonstrate how to woodturn a 4 legged child's stool in part 2 of this 3 part stool series. This woodturned stool is a great gift to give a toddler just learning to walk because of the stability it offers over a three legged stool. I demonstrate some of the tips and techniques needed for the increased complexity that comes from adding stretchers. I cover some additional material such as using a jig to drill holes, how to measure the angles for the cross braces and more.
The first video in this stool making series, Turn a 3 Legged Stool, is available here: • Woodturn a 3 Leg Stool
In the third video in this stool making series I demonstrate how to duplicate spindles as I turn the legs for a 4 legged stool. Yet, the concepts and principles used for duplicating the stools legs also apply to any spindle project involving making more than one, such as legs for a table or spindles for a baby crib. That video is available here: • How to Turn Duplicate ...

Great job, Mike. We have a stool like that that has been in the family for seventy years that I know and I don't know how much before that. I remember laying on it and pushing myself around on it when I was small. Great air loom.

Lee Waterman This one is destined for a niece of mine with a new baby. Wonder if my name burned on the bottom can still be able to read in 70 years after it gets much darker with age.

Very nice stool. I wish you had a picture of it after you put the oil on it.

Want the classic look use 2 cross rungs and a single rung spanning from the center of the cross rungs.

James Stanlake I will be using that technique with a tall three legged stool with one cross piece and the the part making the leg of the T to be slanted down. from the back leg. Alan Leland uses that style on his stools. Looks great.
