May be influencers are asking us to not use plastic products not for reducing personal exposure but overall human exposure. After all it is this plastic that is going to air and water.
And it takes a huge degree of suspension of belief in the evolutionary process to imagine that merely because we have not figured out how it affects us, continuous exposure to a complete alien set of materials (add PFAs too) will not affect our biology.
@@manurazgoit PFAS and microplastics are an issue even in the remotest parts of the world. It's not about "not/affecting me" but what we're leaving behind for the coming generations.

From what I have read, a litre of bottled water contains around 0.25 Million micro-/nano- plastics. On the other hand, certain types of tea bags have been found to release several Billions of micro-/nano- plastics per cup. What is your opinion on this? Would be great if you could touch upon this in a RUclips short.
30-40% from water, so just use RO water! That sounds like an elitist attitude, and something Nirmala Sitharaman would say - people are dying while working 16-18 hrs a day continuously because they don't do yoga or trust in god to cope with work stress. What percent of the population actually has access to RO water? So, shouldn't we all do our bit to reduce plastic production and use? What about the other species on our planet. Don't they deserve cleaner water? Shouldn't the whole problem be tackled from the top where we produce inordinate amount of plastic with no thought about what we are leaving behind for generations to come? Already there is an island of plastic garbage in the middle of the Pacific ocean. It is our responsibility NOW to reduce plastic use and not have a "chalta hai" attitude since it won't do us harm or since there is currently no evidence of it causing cancer, endocrine issues, etc.
@@sanjayyethipathi In an ideal world, yes. However, cheap plastics have proliferated every corner of the world, including 3rd world countries where there are absolutely no means of recycling. All the waste either goes into landfilss and leech into the ground water, or go into the oceans and create garbage islands as we see in the Pacific Ocean. Even in India, just look at all the major cities and the amount of plastic waste generated, which goes into dumps just outside all of our cities.
He's not endorsing plastic, he's only debunking the scare around micro plastics on health. He also very clearly and sarcastically pointed to humans pathetically littering land and then worrying about microplastics.

No direct harm to human health was considered for cigarettes as well in 1950s. How are all your videos in only one direction, just because there’s no evidence of harm does not mean it’s safe. Also, percentages would significantly change if a person is using RO like you said. So make that 50% to nearly 2% and then we’ll have much higher percentages of micro plastic from the other sources.
@@SwetankAmbar Cigarette is voluntary habit. Not comparable to micro plastic issue which is social, local, global. Again, the restrictions on cigarette or tobacco are disproportionally harsh. It is also said that not even one case could be conclusively proved that cigarette causes lung cancer.

Yes, plastics in water & air are a v big concern. While I may not have control over oceans & factories, I can still control the 1% that enters my home, that enters my/ my loved ones bodies. Just bcoz there's a mightier problem out there, I don't have to ignore & add 1% more to it. I will definitely eliminate plastic containers from my kitchen, food packaged in plastic containers, etc As an individual, everyone can make this difference, however small it may be. So let's not be cynical about it. Let us not distort every right/ good advice given. Let's do the right thing.
In almost every RO, to improve the taste only part of water is filtered through RO membrane, a significant part is bypassed through UF filters and added back to the final filtered water
I have seen masala corroding the silver lining in the store bought packet , if stored for a long time. Kept out all plastics in kitchen (except kids tiffin box for snacks) and replaced them with glass and stainless steel. In Germany most plastics are collected for recycling, although not sure about how efficiently they are recycled. In India, people take plastic for granted and reuse non food grade plastics, make them dirty, dont recycle them . I could see people throwing plastic cover everywhere and don't feel guilty about it.
Could you make a similar video on growth hormones in chicken/meat and mercury content in fish? How concerned should we be, or is it blown out of proportion? Loving your channel!
Thanks for this fantastic video. Just to be clear, when you say avoid bottled water, you mean packaged water from the shop or using plastic bottles in daily use?
Another superb video “More money usually means the ability and privilege to worry about actually trivial things..” So true.. What’s your opinion on the issue of ‘absorption of micro plastics through skin while using synthetic clothes/ activewear’?
Very positive videos but there is a great increase in Health problems, seen personally by Everyone, young people suffering Heart Attacks in their 20's.
Thank you 🙏 Thank you 🙏 Thank you 🙏 You're like a soothing balm in today's crazy world of social media influencers! One question, though: When you say bottled water, does it include RO water that we store in plastic water bottles like Pearl Pet at home?
8:23 my chitthi who was distant from us who worked in a factory which manufactures plastic goods died of throat cancer which was very disturbing then. Slow but gradual exposure has an impact. We can’t cleanse the air we breath, cleanse underground water and avoid its stagnation through pvc pipes , But can cleanse the water in our counter top using copper plate, Dr khadar claims that it absorbs micro plastics and heavy metals. Need to soak in pot of water overnight and clean with tamarind/lemon +salt next day. And can avoid storing water in plastic bottles. Storing water or hot food in plastic containers ( including tupperware)
Lack of evidence at this juncture, does not essentially guarantee that there is no harm, neither does it rule out the possibility of a probable harm subsequently. Fallacy of statistics is that it relies on a large set of data that unequivocally leans towards causality, and the time and accuracy for that data to come out is marred by innumerable confounders. Even though the exposure is regarded is low,the cumulative effect of low exposure over the years is another aspect that needs to be explored and explained.
Why did I know what your answer was going to be even before watching the video? Because answer to scare mongering is always "don't break your head". But here not for the answer, but for the t-shirts!
I liked the video, genuinely! I get the point that he wants to say microplastics are not necessarily harming you. But yaar, where microplastics come from, they are not created out of thin air. They have come into the picture because we have been causing plastic pollution for a hundred years now. The point is to reduce plastic consumption, not as food, but as daily use, that is how you can at least stabilize microplastic content. So, please avoid packaged foods, not in the context of food, but the package that you through in the trash. So, please don't IGNORE. Infant brain/placenta has microplastics. Common man! I am not in for scaremongering, but normalizing these is not helping the big picture. I agree with his last point where he says, to reduce plastic at a personal level. Currently studying in the US, I can see how this poses a global problem. And the current levels of LOW, are "current" not forever, the levels rise in plastic use, the day is not far, when these might pose a serious problem.
Enlightening!!!! Is it possible to do a video on structured water using copper plates? There are many videos on this...however, one wonder whether there is any truth behind this. Thank you Krish!!!
Thanks for the effort you put into these videos, we novices get to consume (minus the microplastics😂) in a very palpable form, i had a quick question though, aren't the water cans we order at home also RO filtered?
Whether or not plastics (microplastics for that matter) cause ill-health,directly or indirectly; the need to reduce unnecessary plastic usage is the need of the hour to save our environment. Use of plastics wherever inevitable is fine, for example healthcare.
There is a reason they are called forever chemicals. Just because it’s everywhere doesn’t mean we can just keep going. Everything has wear and tear. That’s why they tell to use silver utilities so we ingest silver nano particles for good health. There is a difference between ingesting plastic and ingesting silver
This is pretty much what I suspected; just like the pesticide scaremongering. It would take some pretty well-researched data that something is genuinely harmful to human health to put the shits up me these days.
Informative . Succint. We see the angle. But what about our friends in the sea? Here in Msia most of supermarkets and shops do not provide plastic bags anymore. And some cafes are already serving drinks with organic straw made from rice. They are mostly saying no to plastic. And what about the horror of burning plastic in landfills. Even if micro plastic is evidently not harmful generally can we generally go on with the massive use of plastic itself?
Given the scale of the problem and the indiscriminate production and use of plastic, I think some amount of fearmongering could actually be beneficial to the cause. If it will make people consume less plastic. This kind of myth-breaking could actually encourage complacency.
Even in the RO filter water is stored in a plastic container. Also we collect the water in plastic bottles for ease of use. Does this mean you cant reduce microplastic consumption even with RO filter?
Thanks for this video! I am asking because it was not mentioned specifically in the video. Is there any difference in using plastic cutting board vs wooden on this matter?
Nice Krish! The RO filter I'm sort of not convinced, even though it's filter water - the water stays in RO collector for long enough isn't that the same as bottled water?? 🤔🤔

Irony is that a city person tries to live in village (for health) where as a village person loves to live in city (for money)
Most people will pick the latter though
A rich city dweller likes to live in a village but a poor city dweller is less likely to live in a village! Financial stability is important.
i choose the first.
realised back in 2009 no use of sitting in a cubical and being sick later in life. I quit my job and left Bombay for good.
we breath almost 20kg of air a day. Where as most people eat and drink approx 2 kg of each.
So anyday living in a country side is better option.
We don't really need that much money when not living in a city. I quit my corporate job and moved to my home town. It cured my hypertension and dyslipidemia. I earn a lot less but it's enough.
There are even business opportunities that are not possible in a highly competitive city.

May be influencers are asking us to not use plastic products not for reducing personal exposure but overall human exposure. After all it is this plastic that is going to air and water.
True, but that’s certainly not what they claim.
But r we reducing the usage. We are not. The policy have to be implemented industrially first.

It is our responsibility NOW to reduce plastic use and not have a "chalta hai" attitude since it won't do us harm or since there is currently no evidence of it causing cancer, endocrine issues, etc.
proper disposing of plastic and recycling is the solution to what you are saying, not its usage. what do you think?

Welcome
Yes, plastics in water & air are a v big concern. While I may not have control over oceans & factories, I can still control the 1% that enters my home, that enters my/ my loved ones bodies. Just bcoz there's a mightier problem out there, I don't have to ignore & add 1% more to it. I will definitely eliminate plastic containers from my kitchen, food packaged in plastic containers, etc As an individual, everyone can make this difference, however small it may be. So let's not be cynical about it. Let us not distort every right/ good advice given. Let's do the right thing.
Thanks sir,,, real educational video
Welcome

Another gem.. Thank you
Thankyou soooooo much.
Very informative👍
Lack of evidence at this juncture, does not essentially guarantee that there is no harm, neither does it rule out the possibility of a probable harm subsequently.
Fallacy of statistics is that it relies on a large set of data that unequivocally leans towards causality, and the time and accuracy for that data to come out is marred by innumerable confounders.
Even though the exposure is regarded is low,the cumulative effect of low exposure over the years is another aspect that needs to be explored and explained.
Nice Info on Plastics

Micro plastics in blood, brain and testicles.. Questioning our existence.
Yep.
Misogynist why didnt you mention ovaries?!!?!?
Good information ✌️

I hope so!
Please make a video on omega 3, fish oil and if it's required as a supplement

This is pretty much what I suspected; just like the pesticide scaremongering. It would take some pretty well-researched data that something is genuinely harmful to human health to put the shits up me these days.
Yeah!
As we get wealthier, we will go down that path as well
proper disposing of plastic and recycling is the solution to what you are saying, not its usage. what do you think?
Given the scale of the problem and the indiscriminate production and use of plastic, I think some amount of fearmongering could actually be beneficial to the cause. If it will make people consume less plastic. This kind of myth-breaking could actually encourage complacency.
Even in the RO filter water is stored in a plastic container. Also we collect the water in plastic bottles for ease of use. Does this mean you cant reduce microplastic consumption even with RO filter?
If it’s high grade plastic, it is not going to add much!
Thanks for this video! I am asking because it was not mentioned specifically in the video. Is there any difference in using plastic cutting board vs wooden on this matter?
