Thank you for the share, I’m always looking for different ways to mount and set up winches on crawlers.
I mounted a servo winch next to steering servo in that formation on my Element crawler, it worked great. But the weight up high and to the front seemed to make it a little top heavy.
Lately I have been using the rock slider as a mount point with tubing as a guide. This helps keep the center of gravity low where I prefer it.
Great video, thank you for sharing. I look forward to your next one.👍

Great video with some good work-arounds! I used spacers (as per Oscar in the also great Redcat video you mentioned) and had a great result with my outer spool winch. Oscar also mentions using 300lb test fishing line instead of the included wire, which I will do when and if my wire breaks. Thanks for all the great videos!

Yes! The fishing line might be my next swap....we will see if I break another line.

Will the internal servo winch settup work on the ascent fusion? Thanks@@RoadsideRC

I dont understand why they made it so hard to add a servo winch but they added a spot to mount it. I think im going to 4-link mine and add an outrunner motor and copperhead 10 esc to clear the links.

It was more designed around an internal spool winch setup - not external like I used.
If you go internal spool - it bolts right in super easy.

@@RoadsideRC seems like the line would have to would run down then out the front bumper at an awkward angle. Instead of just straight out. Does that cause any issues like wear on the line?

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  5 месяцев назад

@@nathanstewart2018 There is plenty of room. If you watch the recent Redcat livestream, he just unbolts the front body mount, runs it under there. 2 screws.

I used the LP spool and nylon spacers and it just barely clears but it works. I’m gonna watch the link to adjust end points and might do the internal spool winch and use the 442HD on something else. Thanks for the informative videos

Like everything redcat, Amazing in many ways, dubious in others. I have the ascent fusion and my WendiGOAT with fusion pro, tc8 marksman and had the amazing kaiju..they are all great vehicles, with amazing components, put together like shit by people who dont care because they are 12-13 year old children in chinese factories. Is what it is. After TRX Redcat is making the best crawlers at the moment and by the way what the hell happened to axial, the chevy looked terrible my cj looked great but WAS terrible, and now its like 24 scale or 6 scale or skip axial. I wonder if HH has a new brand in the works, honestly.
And I understand many most will disagree but I have time on my side and I have TRX crawlers with nearly a decade on them and hundred and hundreds of miles, the quality stands out over time. I sold a defender with a verified 1000 plus miles YEARS ago, its insane.
anyways, roadside, from drift cars to fusion servo winches, you are chasing after it and I respect that, plus you arent using your girlfriends breasts or adderall popping behavior to get views just lots and lots of info, and a good helping of your opinions, lol
One more thing, if the fusion pro has real carbon fiber as opposed to a plastic imitation or light wrap I would be surprised, I have seen so many snapped frames, I think if I had to do over I buy red ascent non fusion and put in the far superior FP rather than the Fusion se non programmable, i would much rather have a steel frame. I totally expect to break it and dont use it all that much as a result. great little truck for a 1.9 though.
    keep it up, later

      Thanks for the comment.
I have had pretty good luck with my Redcat vehicles over the years.
The carbon fiber is real carbon - confirmed directly.
