    Portugal is suffering of over tourism, affecting housing for their own people, high rental prices, over crowded streets in residential neighborhoods, lack of housing for students, etc. Network should look for better segments that twist the reality of what really is affecting a the living conditions in a country.

    • @NoRoads2AllRoads
      @NoRoads2AllRoads 3 месяца назад +2

      its not the tourists affecting the housing but the bureaucracy of crappy government. It's inadmissable that it takes 7+ years from buying land to being able to build. This strangles the supply of dwellings being released to market. In 2007, 200k new dwellings were being built per year. Currently, only about 25-30k new dweeelings per year are being built with much more demand than in 2007. This is just an example showing the problem is in the supply ... not the demand.

      @@NoRoads2AllRoads Então o mundo está cheio de governos incompetentes, já que o problema da habitação é comum a muitos países desenvolvidos. É mais fácil e rápido encher aviões de turistas do que construir casas. Já pensou nisso???

      @@MafaldaBotelho29 o Turismo está cheio sim em tudo o lado. Mas só em Lisboa ou qualquer lado em Portugal tem preços de m2 o mesmo que Manhattan nas zonas mais caras. Qualquer cidade nos EUA, uma boa casa custa 2000 M2 ... Em Portugal qualquer porcaria a cair de podre só 6 mil euros mínimo ... E construção nova a 15-25 mil euros o M2 em zonas centrais. Isso são números de aranhas céus de luxo em Manhattan
      Portanto sim resume se ao governo e burocracia.

    You should add Portugal to your travel bucket list because it offers stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. However, it's important to travel responsibly. The recent influx of tourists, especially Americans, has led to a rise in housing prices and living costs, making it difficult for locals to afford their own cities. By visiting respectfully and supporting local businesses, you can enjoy Portugal's beauty while helping to preserve its charm and accessibility for residents.

    It’s also So irresponsible putting those love locks on the gates. In Paris France there were so many that were put on their bridges over the seine river that it causes structural damage. The city is still spending millions in repairs and cutting all those locks off. So please don’t do it.

    Good luck finding a local in one of those beautiful villages. Portuguese are being forced out of the towns where their ancestors have lived for hundreds of years because Americans and northern Europeans are buying up all the houses, raising prices. The quality of life has worsened drastically because of gentrification. It has increased the cost of everything and crime has risen in a country that until recently was one of the safest in the world. Those that come and that perceive themselves as "expats", which are nothing more than immigrants with much more money than the national average, do not learn the language, do not establish contact with those who already live here and erase traditions, places and values just to have access to a luxury life at a cheaper price. Your holiday house is one home less for a Portuguese. Regards from the Algarve.

The coast in setubal has incredible rock formations, there are gorgeous waterfalls in the north (geres, arouca). In the south there is the mudejar architecture which is a fusion of christian and islamic. In the interior there are ancient villages, one is called sistelo and is often referred to as the portuguese tibet. It’s beautiful. In conimbriga and many other places you can find roman artifacts. In the south you can find islamic palaces. In nazare you have the place where the biggest wave in the world was surfed, an incredible coastline. In the islands, you have azores that doesn’t even look real. It’s mind blowingly beautiful and the food there, the steaks in particular, is incredible. So much I am not even mentioning.
