Hi , Your plastic trim handle is not staying at he s place anymore because you broke the top socket where the top clip goes in. That top socket is the one holding it tight . If you r lucky is probably still there , usually breaks one side only . Have a nice day .
dude the wires you left off were for the tweeters, what did you do about this? left them disconnected? I want to replace my speaks as they are blown but the tweets need connected, did you leave it or how did you hook them back up?

Yes I have done it in my car , polk db525 with the same ebay harness , but without MDF as they are thicker than 4 inch. Same way I have replaced back speakers also. Ebay harness has 2 blue connector on 1 side and 1 blue connector on other side. You can cut off that 1 side single connector , bring together both positive and both negative terminals and attach them under clips and connect it to your speaker. The opposite side two connectors goes into the car side connectors. So you will not have to leave any connector hanging. Plus if you dont connect the 2nd connector on car side , I think the tweeters dont work.
@@robertmargeson264 with long screws in original cardboard , since regular speakers has four screws , it may not be a perfect fit , but it can be attached firmly with adjustments. I have put 2 screws in original holes , and other two , wherever the holes landed.

Ok for people with a e90 bmw its the same thing buttttt..........the tweeters above the speaker dont work after the installl butttttt. The alpine is a tweeter and a woofer so ull be good

I believe those other wires you didn't hook up were for your tweeters. Their fed from the door speaker last I recall.

@@gainz6718 as soon as you do this the tweeters no longer work BUT.... those s40 have integrated tweeters therefore its not a bad trade off
Really having a hard time finding the speaker wire adapter. Sucks for me
If u want u can twist the adpater and the wires from the alpine speakers from ebay just in case u don't want to sodder then use electric tape
