I would love to see a little follow up on this beautiful, smart horse later when he is older. I can't wait to see what he looks like and how much he grows. So impressed❤
I've had my quarterhorse 1yr old filly for 4months now and I've trained her using you methods Steve. She is full of the good stuff. No bad habits to start and no bad habits currently. The level of respect and gentlness observed between us is increadible. I'm walking her off the property evwry morning so she experiences light traffic and everyday situations. I consider her 95% halter trained, but everything I do with her I do with quality! We repeat things until we can do them gracefully. Your voice runs through my head everyday when I work with her. Thank you very much💚
So much respect for this man's skills and ability to read body language, and teach body language. Thank you for your time and knowledge. Please keep sharing.
Poor little fellow! It’s a shame that he’s had so much trauma so early in life. When I bought my boy, I got given the option on how we were going to go about weaning, because I bought him at his mother’s side, and I asked that the foal be kept with her till he was six months old, and then be taken away with one of his pasture mates that was another foal the same age. She could then be kept as a weaning buddy for him until he was no longer anxious. When I brought my boy home, I had a older gelding that I knew was very good with young horses, and he was given the task of being the babysitter for the foal when Captain finally came home. To this day, the horse that was Captain‘s babysitter and he are very close friends. The breeder and I also began working with Captain and his mother to teach Captain to be handled with a halter and lead rope, and to be loaded onto a trailer so that he could be taken to my home eventually, but he was trailered initially with his mother so that it would not be as stressful a situation, and after he had some time being trailered, then when he got brought home with another young horse that was used to going places and could be a calming influence when he was being taken to my farm.
He's beautiful and so quick to figure out what you're asking from him! All this work now will make such a big difference as he grows. Bravo little guy!
I do like this little guy! Most young horse colts are mouthy and often try to get a little nip in here and there, but he was very well behaved that way. No striking or kicking either. Very smart, picked things up quickly. I think he's hungry to learn--Jenny, you did very well in choosing him! I think he's going to be a great little riding horse. Thank you for helping him, Steve!
Another great video! I love this little guy! He has all the right stuff to make a fantastic horse and partner for Jenny! Steve as always you are so patient and gentle! Thank you for showing us and the horses the right way! The US needs trainers like you!❤❤❤
Awww, this little baby is as Bright as a button,so gentle he seems so eager to learn, will be a fabulous horse would love to see him grow into adulthood,
I love Steve Young’s videos. There is so much to learn from them and he is so kind in his methods. It is also great that he is here in the UK. Thank you Steve and family.
My first time watching, you got him at an auction?? he’s beautiful….he’s Smart, I LIKE HIM…he’s soooo willing to be loved….I wish him Love and Luck, You too….I am a bit envious,❤️❤️❤️
Sadly, there are a lot of foals that are basically thrown away to create nurse mares for valuable mares’ offspring. The breeder doesn’t want a valuable mare to waste time raising a foal when she could be breeding another one…
When I first saw him, I thought he was dirty. LOL What a unique coat coloring. He is very intelligent to pick up on all the different commands you were teaching in one go.
Cute baby! Already picking up his feet and haltering, he's on his way to a good start. While we can't fix all the problems they suffered in the past, he's young enough to forget it with time and really blossom into quite the horse. Good luck to Jenny with him. Would love to see him in a few years all grown up.
Another hour zoomed by! What a little heart breaker this boy is! And so loved by his mom and she is so loved by him! Thanks again from a non horsey fan!
That foal is so cute he is watching and trying to work stuff out 😊. @Steve I have been watching and listening your communication skills with owners and you always have something extremely positive to say about all the equines ….
Steve the Master … your work is incredible. Thanks once again for the uplifting videos. Such gentle hands but firm consistency when required. What a wonderful job you have. Love seeing beautiful Wales, England etc. best regards to you from South Africa
❤ I love him!!! And Jenny did an awesome job gentlyling him and showing him what love is between man and horse!!!❤ And Steve you're as gentle with the young ones as you are strong and patient with the troubled ones. Thanks for everything you do!
I don’t have a horse. I had some small experience when on holiday as a child and I loved it. I do however have a dog and the idea of pressure and release has been useful to us (she applies pressure to me by huffing and she releases when I do what she wants - walk, open the door, food etc. 🙂). It does work the other way round as well from time to time 😁. Seriously though, it’s delightful to see how effective gentle persuasion is with even some very troubled animals. The more of your videos I watch, the more I realise how much skill, intelligence and concentration you put into your work. I can see you need to tune out in order to tune in to the horse. I hope you will be able to get one of those things that stop wind noise (I think they’re called a “dead cat”), and that you can find a way to have the picture display in landscape mode. All the best and I look forward to more videos - nearly forgot, I do like to view of the countryside and the narration as you drive through. Thanks 🌺
This little guy looks very promising. He is curious but not pushy and seems to be working out things very quickly. Hope we get to see him when is he grown and jumping or showing. I wonder how long she can keep him without gelding....he would be a beautiful stallion if his temperment stay so good once the hormones get to going.
Omg he's gorgeous!!! 😍😍😍 chunky monkey looks like he's gunna be huge! Love to see his colouring as he develops... Good luck - wishing you a lifetime of happiness with him x
Steve, thanks for another wonderful video! I've never owned horses, but absolutely enjoy their beauty. Love the "connection" you have with them, and find your techniques so interesting. Your experience shows. Thanks again!
I’ve just found your channel and I instantly wanted to subscribe to you!! You are an AMAZING TRAINER!!! I cannot wait to watch all of your videos!! I live in the United States, in California. I don’t currently have any horses but am saving up to buy another horse property so that I can have horses again very soon!! I can’t get enough of them!! I’m so thankful to you for recording what you do and posting it!! This is a very nice colt!! He’s going to go very far as long as Jenny sticks to your training methods!! ❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕😘
Steve first time I have met you and daughter what a gentleman. I really enjoyed your teaching style /techniques I ride one hour a week but always loved and admired horses. You have made my Sunday just watching you work am hooked now thank you very much .😀
That little guy is one smart pony! He was picking up on your training so fast. I get the feeling, not that I'm any kind of knowledgeable, but gut feel he is going to be a good horse. I love his coloring, very handsome fella!
The videos keep getting better! This tutorial seemed so clear to understand. Sweet horse. Love the end especially since I’ve never ridden. What a feeling it must be. Thank you !
I love Steve 🤍 how you Teach the lowering of the head- the "Adrenaline shut-off". This lil' guy is ADORABLE!!! Jenny got herself a goodie! With all those"boring details"going through his lil' colt mind.. those small openings became non issues- he didn't have room for those thoughts!😉 Loved*the last scene GALLOP! IT WAS CERTAINLY nice to hear Char's voice🎶
That vid from the auction aw, the poor thing. Mum gone, all the noise. But then as soon as someone gets his brain working and it starts moving forward and he starts getting used to you, he starts to relax. What a sweet horse. These videos are so cool, I'm really learning a lot. I'm getting that same excitement from learning about dogs and their body language all over again.
Those babies at auction how they are treated, so traumatic.this little chap is a willing learner and what a good home he's got, wonder what he's like now?
What a beautiful baby. He’s landed on his feet. I hope the other babies did the same. They looked terrified at the auction. How much did you pay for him? He’s going to be a good little horse for you both can already see the bond and having Steve on hand. Wow. Your so lucky. You will produce an amazing horse between you. All good wishes on your journey. Thank you so much for sharing. Please continue. It’s going to be great seeing Flint grow up and seeing the bond develop. He’s a smart cookie. 😃
She's lucky he trusted her enough after she done what she done to put the harness on him but sometimes they are very forgiving especially if they are babies ...he's a beautiful beautiful horse ....you are awesome at your job very gentle and respectful and the horses respect you after a few min very awesome
What a wonderful baby. Just drop dead gorgeous with so much amazing potential. I do wish I could have had him. That brave part of him co.es from the Quarter horse influence found in many Appaloosas. Before they stupidly opened the stud book to Thoroughbreds in the 80's, Quarter horses tended to be way more steady minded than even now.
Oh what a gorgeous baby horse with such a lovely colouring whoever owns him and the other horses are truly blessed. How wicked to take a foal from their mothers and put them in for auction.
This is why it is so much better to start all the ground work as soon as possible. They learn like sponges. And quickly forgetting the negative experiences they had. This is a brilliant trainer.
Adorable little guy. He's called a varnish roan pattern in appaloosas. He might roan almost white. I have a red roan blanket pattern appy who is 13 now and mostly looks all white now.
@@Tyson-co4oc There is some inconsistency in what people use to refer to various patterns. Few spot Appys typically have very obvious, distinct spots. I would call this one a varnish roan. Apparently, some call them "marble roan".
It’s good to see your films are now on YT I loved watching your stuff on FB then it went behind a paywall 😣 and I really missed following you. I wish you well and hope people find you again and subscribe. The films are fabulous.
I have learned so much friend m your videos and only seen 3. You have so much patience and knowing body twitches and movement of the horse for everything you want. Everything makes so much since with the tightened rope and release and also with mouth. Thanking you for sharing it all.
Foals are born knowing how to stand up, nurse, and to be able to run in an hour, usually. You can teach so much to them that is your foundation to when you belly over, then mount, dismount and then ride long before any of that happens. You build a good foundation for your house, why wouldn't or shouldn't you build a solid foundation starting them from foals?? What you put in there stays there, if done correctly. Best Regards and Stay Safe Everyone!! From Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 💖 🇨🇦 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
