Edgar loves watching the Christmas lights from his trolley or from his owners shoulders. But he wasn’t always so eager for fun. Edgar was mistreated before Betty and Alex adopted him, and he was afraid of men because of past trauma. But with patience and love, Edgar has flourished into a quirky, happy cockatoo.

You are doing the right thing by involving Edgar in your travels. Birds are social creatures and they need to be around people and other animals to be mentally healthy. Mental health affects physical health too. Edgar is beautiful and amazing. ❤ Having a pet is like having a child. They are intelligent and need the same love and support as a child does. It doesn't matter if it's a bird, cat, dog lizard or fish. Love is acceptance and success because it helps build societies. ❤

    Thank you for your sacrifice.
We have a 9 year old female Dusky Conure we adopted when the owner passed and she was very defensive and scared. After a couple weeks we learned that she could speak and was potty trained. The only thing I’ve taught her was to say “yum yum” when she’s hungry or she wants what I’m eating. I bought her a large cage with a quality made bird warmer in her little box with a nice soft blanket. She flies to her cage as we’re getting ready to go to sleep and we keep the door open, at 0830 every morning, she’s up and will start making small noises to see if anyone is awake then after about 10 minutes she starts squawking to wake us up, lol. The cat is scared to death of her as are the 3 chihuahuas. Lolly loves to take a nap on my chest and snuggle under my chin, I always keep a soft baby blanket nearby when I recline so she can stay warm. She’s not too noisy if you’re trying to relax, I notice she will make more noise when she’s in the kitchen with my wife as she watches the birds in the back yard that we feed.

Poor thing, his wings looks all wrong too, they aren’t going all back to the body, he must have contractures or something like that. I wonder if they also tried to cut his feathers but cut into parts of the wings themselves. I have heard of that happening before. Maybe something like that plays a part in him having his wings in that odd position all the time… So glad he is with these people now, thank God for that! ❤❤❤

hmm, one of my rescues used to always have her legs unnaturally wide apart, I'm thinking from this video the reason might be to do with a lack of perching with mine too, especially since she's got her legs wide again a bit at the moment, after only recently coming off eggs, where she wasn't perching for a month because of that. That's really, really interesting if that is the reason with mine.
Mine was kept in a cage only around 5cms longer than her body in it's longest direction. It did have a single perch in it, but I was told she used to sleep on the floor with her food bowl on her head (cause she didn't have a cover or quiet place, so that was the only way she could get any sleep)
Anyway, Happy Christmas Edgar, glad you have a good life now & Happy Christmas Cuddle Buddies & everyone reading

Ever encountered a cocky beak? he's more than capable of fending off any bird of prey for long enough for his owners to rescue him! Plus, birds of prey are rarely around in suburban areas targetting animals so close to humans! Not really any different to a bird of prey taking a small dog, dog is far less capable of defence against the bird than the cocky is, so a dog 2-3 times the size of this cocky would be at equal risk of being taken

@@Fur_ball again, they don't get that close to humans though, if they did, they would be taking dogs regularly!
The cocky is also not out at night, so the owls aren't a problem, but I'd lover to know what owl you think would take on a cocky that was wide awake. Owls target rats, not the much bigger birds with bolt cutter beaks!
Cocky gave my finger a "gentle" nip the other day while I was hand feeding it, it split my nail in 2!!!!!!! It didn't meant to, they're beaks are just so strong! They also regularly undo the wire I have their food bowls attached with, the wire I use being the thickest gauge that it is possible to cut without bolt cutters & possible to bend (at least to some extent) using just pliers. They make easy work of undoing it, having more force in their beaks than full size metal pliers do! Birds of prey won't target that if there's a much more helpless dog nearby will they! Not worth it to them
