      Y'all it may not have been humans at fault here. A cat could have grabbed him and took him away from his home, a family may have had him out just like she has him out and he escaped their sight and got lost to never be seen by his loving family again. Just because he's been found in a home doesn't mean that he was abandoned there or he was even originally from that home. This is not from physical abuse. It's MBD a disease slowly onset from improper food, digestion, and UV exposure.

    • @rockmemama86
      @rockmemama86 Год назад +2

      @Eerie Revenant do you know that for a fact there sir or ma'am. Have you confronted the original owners? Because if not how on earth do you know. Assumptions are not pretty. The dragon could have been lost. The dragon could have escaped. The dragon could have been taken from a cage or home by dog or cat or hawk. Shit happens I know this for a fact that it's possible because in hundreds of animals in my life it's all happened to something down the line. I've had dogs and cats grab, run away with, even kill small animals. I've had houdini escape artists get out many a times. I bring them out for free roam in the house. I've had them get into walls, ductwork, inside furniture etc etc etc. I see many reptiles with preexisting organ problems, and other born with ailments. They're not like mammals. Most reptiles especially these dragons have hundreds of eggs per year. They incubate for 2 months meaning that they form from cellular embryos to babies in 2-3 months, unlike many complex mammals that carry for 9 months plus. Lots can go wrong! And you don't know the story just like none of us know the story. I'm not assuming anything other than literally anything could have happened to see this dragon through that stage.

      @Orchidilia I've been keeping and even breeding bearded dragons and other reptiles for 20yrs, I know all about MBD. And how it occurs and often it is from negligence and undereducated owners, but also yes you absolutely can lose dragons for months even forever. They can run away just like a dog or cat. Any animal that can move can. They can be fast lil guys especially if brought outside with no harness. Some even making outdoor enclosures that can be escaped also. Just because it was found in a closet doesn't mean it was left there by a human.

      Think about this picture. A family with young kids has their dragon out on the deck. The cat or dog spooks the dragon. Dragon takes off. Kid chases dragon. Dog chases dragon faster. Kid yels for mommy to help catch dragon. Dragon darts away faster and finds a hole under the house. Dragon slips away into darkness. Child and mom frantically try to find him with a flashlight. No dragon. A week goes by they put food and water by the holes entrance. 2 weeks no dragon. Then 3, 5, and then a year no dragon. Then they must move away. Leaving said dragon behind forever wondering if he's still ok. Then one day the dragon makes its way back inside the home, or maybe a neighborhood home, to be found by a random person who sees this dragon who looks hurt, scared, and cold. Said person makes up a storyline of how dragon came to be like they found him. Totally and utterly possible to be his story. You ultimately don't know for sure because the original owner/s are not there to ask.

The lady kept her for years with very minimal contact because the lady was disgusted but was just keeping her for her grown son whom no longer lived at home. Lizzy had a curved spine, broken trail, and MBD so badly. She couldn't walk either, her muscles were just gone and she was so emaciated. It took her 5 months before she even got the strength to scoot along.She was rarely handled when she was brought to us, but it was instant connection with her. It was if she knew we were there to help and this was love! She literally to this day is the only dragon whom I've seen that would actually smile. I wish I could share a photo of her. I'm in no way a lizard or reptile person, I will not lie I think they are creepy. However, I'd never hurt or want to see them suffer just because of my feeling about them. If I found one I'd want to ensure they found a loving home.

    Is that not a crime? Aren't reptiles protected as domestic animals? I feel like criminal animal cruelty charges should apply in a scenario like this. Peanut wasn't just neglected or mistreated, to sustain the injuries he has he had to have been actively terrorized and tortured for a prolonged period and he must have suffered extensively. This kind of behavior should absolutely not be tolerated and I'm disgusted that anyone could do something so vile and inhumane to another creature. At the very least I hope that Peanut's previous owners have been reported to law enforcement and animal control so any other future pets in their care can be monitored. No one whose capable of such abuse should ever be allowed ownership of an animal again, and TBH I would be extremely concerned for any potential children in the home. This kind of abuse is never isolated.
