The Faces were a fantastic rock outfit with grooving tracks like this along with soulful tracks to compliment their vast repertoire , honed to perfection ,didn't mind a drink or two either ,great stuff .
@@LouieCaporussoJr I believe both Steve Marriott and Rod Stewart were both approached by Jimmy Page. Stewart hooked up with Jeff Beck instead and the Small Faces manager threatened Page with bodily harm if he went after Marriott. Original Led Zeppelin lineup: Jimmy Page, Steve Marriott, John Entwistle, Keith Moon, and Nicky Hopkins.
According to the video the Life & Times of Ronnie Lane, The Faces booking agent said Ronnie Lane was fed up with all of the B.S. of the music industry and opted to quit the Faces and started Slim Chance. In this way he could play his music his way. I want to believe that had R.L. not quit the Faces they would have had a gone on much longer. Just because of how good the band was. And they all seened to agree R.L was the heart of the band. I cant believe playing in that band wasn't anything but Fun, With a capital F. It always seems when something is really special, awesome, outragous or great to absorb. For some reason it never lasts long. But If it's shit you can have a never ending supply.
Money always plays a part. Rod had solo obligations to fulfill that turned out to be very successful. The band felt the Faces weren't getting his best material and he spent their money insisting they fly chartered planes, ride in limos, among other things, and split the cost. he could afford it, the rest couldn't. Hard feelings, band breaks up. Classic tale, unfortunately.
Ron Wood is the most underrated BAD ASS ever. I'm so glad The Stones got him. Can't wait to see them in Orlando on Jun 3rd in Orlando and Jun 7th in Atlanta.....
@deanstanley2125 I've seen the interview with Ronnie saying The Stones wanted him after Brian, but Ronnie was under contract. When Taylor quit, Ronnie was free of contract, and the rest is history.
Birtha's version is better than this version by The Faces and better than the original version by Ike and Tina Turner. Birtha ROCKS for sure! Birtha also had a slogan back in the day....Birtha Has Balls!!! LOL
It's interesting, there was a perception of them being sloppy, maybe bc they had a bar on stage, but The Faces were anything but that. Like you say, fantastic musicians, tight as a drum, best thing Rod has ever done, and so many styles covered.
What a great song by a great band that should have gotten alot more recognition than they did....it took both Rod & Ronnie to replace Steve Marriott....both versions of the Faces were great
I wish The Faces would’ve lasted a few more years and put out a few more albums. I’ve always 100% dug their style. Super loose, perfectly sloppy, crunchy Rock-N-Roll riffs. Rod Stewarts Rock-N-Roll voice. Great rhythm section with Lane & Jones. Just good old, stripped down, nuthin fancy ROCK !! Free was a similar band that also unfortunately disbanded too soon. Paul Kosoff is extremely underrated. Never gets mentioned even on top 100 guitarists lists when he should absolutely at least be in the lower 50. If not 30-40. OK rant over I guess. 🤔 well maybe not. Hmmm thinking of something else to gripe about... OK the end
one of the best song titles ever...lol

Rod- the ultimate rock superstar!
Not quite.
Definitely a influence on the Black Crowes some 20 years later. The Faces were incredible
From the beginning, the Black Crowes were vampires of sound from these guys!
@@FlipDahlenburg and Humble Pie...
Influences which the Crowes freely admitted to - and why not, there has never been a better era in music than the 70s imho👌

Rod has the ultimate voice!!
Surely, Paul Rodgers first? Rod second or third?
That guitar is just raunchy BRAVO

Agree ! I believe he was the glue that kept the band together. Always enjoyed the tracks when Ronnie Lane sang lead vocals.

Yeah look at motley fckn crue pure shit there
Perfect..... Works out perfect. Otherwise, the Rolling Stones wouldn't have gotten Ronnie.
So true, man.

Wish he still played like this....
I think the stones wanted Rory Gallagher but he hated flying and didn't like the drug element in the stones

love the Street fighting man bit
Check out the version of this song by the band Birtha. It ROCKS!

Wow! They are amazing!!!
C'EST TELLEMENT GROOVY 🛐

The Faces were huge in the early to mid 70's...
At there very best on this one
*their
Must have been enjoying the glorious noise too much
I heard this version and also there is a song by Birtha with the same title ,anyone know who wrote it
I wonder why Rod says, "I wish I was dead..." at the top...?
Cause he has the blues. Sorry it took 9 years to reply. It's been hectic. 🎸

Filmed in HD using a potato!!! Horrible Definition that is!
Old stepped-on print! The original full concert footage ('Sounds of the 70's' ?), also on YT somewhere, is far better...
how does Ronnie get that guitar sound?
I reckon it’s down to the P-90s
Zematis guitars and marshal amps
Marshall amplification. The P-90's also help. It's like their married or something.
