My 2011 RAV4 appears to have a bad LP cutout switch, but I was afraid I'd lose the full charge by taking it out..... Fingers crossed Toyota also installed a valve under the switch!

      @@premiergoldsodinstallation1984
      I know only the 2001 GMC Yukon 1500. Nonetheless, the 2001 and 2006 are likely very similar in layout.
      On the 2001 Yukon, the high pressure valve is next to the radiator on the passenger side (the bottom of the radiator). It is somewhat hidden, tucked away behind all the rubber shielding. Follow the high pressure line. It is located just before the line curves upward.
      (I actually took the high pressure switch out at O'Reilly's in the parking lot. I reached down from the top, down alongside the radiator. This sucked, because it was totally accessible when I was working on my engine the week before. It's a small space and a tight squeeze, but I managed to get a wrench on it and remove it. I wanted to take both the high and low into the parts store to be absolutely certain I purchased the right ones.)
      The other is right on top of everything in clear view near the condenser (the tubular canister, covered in silver insolation shielding). Easy to see.

      @ryans413 3 года назад +5

      @@mattbaines3317 I believe all the vehicles made have the valve stem just like the charging ports do you can replace the sensor with out having to evacuate the system. There’s no way a AC system just needs a charge if it dose there’s a leak but a faulty sensor like the low pressure switch can keep the PCM from energizing the clutch relay and keeps the compressor from running. The PCM will also kick the cooling fans on full blast under the hood cause the fans need to work for the AC to work properly as well. On my car my AC worked last year then I had a very cold winter this summer the AC quit I knew there was no leaks cause I checked all the hoses and connections and the dash in the car wasn’t oily so I know the heater core unit is fine. Replaced my switch boom work clutch engages cooling fans came on in 5 minutes had cold air. Switch was faulty

    Hi brother thanks for your videos I'm a subscriber.
    Question please...
    I have a 1995 Lexus LS 400.
    The radiator fan is not activating.
    It does work because i tested it.
    I disconnected the connector that's connected to the ac receiver drier and the radiator fan turns on and stays on continuously the whole time.
    But when I reconnect the connector the radiator fan turns off.
    I'm trying to fix the fan so that it turns on when I turn on my air conditioner but the fan does not turn on when I turn on the AC.
    I feel like it has something to do with that connection but I'm not sure.
    Do you think I might have a bad sensor that's connected to the receiver drier?
    Would that be called a
    "High Pressure Sensor" or something?
    Thanks.
    Anybody knowledgeable please reply soon.

      Not if the socket has a Schrader valve that seals as you remove the sensor. It'll squirt a tad and then seal if you unscrew it fast by hand. Same as a tire.
      After the 70s most AC fittings have valves to avoid purge and refill for minor fixes like this.
      Jumper the plug first to see if the pressure switch is the problem. If the AC now engages and blows cold...that's your problem.
      If it engages and doesn't blow cold, then likely you have no 134 refrigerant. You can use the jumper trick to fill it (freon must be flowing for a DIY filler kit to work), then plug the harness back in. That means the pressure switch was working correctly and you have a leak somewhere.

  • @elgatogordo9523

    Question, will abad AC pressure switch also cause the AC compressor to disengage when the engine reaches operating temperature? AC works great for about 10 minutes and then the compressor clutch disengages and keeps blowing ambient air.

      @@brandysigmon9066 dont know if the answer were to me or to the original poster/comment. But.. one other symptom i have is the amount of cooling temperature can also be intermitent. I can have cold air from vent, but not that freezing cold. It comes sometimes after one hour or i can have it in 15min or direct. Really intermitent that too. Compressor running. Would it be some pressure switch too? does it regulate how cool air i get from the vent? if it only will be cool air or that freeezing cold.

      @@Austin.the1st no it’s the low pressure switch it’s on the receiver dryer side what it dose is it looks at pressure in the system it’s a safety to protect the compressor from burning up. Sometimes the switch can just fail it gets put under a lot of stress if it fails and dosnt send a single to the PCM anymore the PCM won’t energize the compressor relay. You can do two checks to see if the compressor still works and your not dealing with a bad clutch find your fuse box pull out the compressor relay take a wire or paper clip and jump out the two hot pins if the clutch engages the compressor side is good thank god lol now find your low pressure switch this is going to test the PCM side if the PCM can energize the compressor relay. Again jump out the hot sides of the pressure switch plug if the PCM clicks the relay shut and the clutch engages good you are dealing with a bad switch or low pressure in the system let’s hope you don’t have low pressure it mean you have a leak. Check all hoses follow them from the compressor and see if you can see anything wet like an oily mess look at the condenser coil at the front of the car see if you can see any oily substance. If everything looks dry it’s a faulty switch change it then test the system

    • @Precision.automotive
      @Precision.automotive  3 года назад

      Without looking at the vehicle I would assume just thinking off the top of my head that when you Rev the engine up giving it gas and your clutch is going off I would assume that it's low on Freon it because it's telling one of your pressure switches to shut off and they're only going to shut off when you're trying to drive the vehicle because it is low on freon
