    Valtatie 4 is actually "highway 4", the longest highway in Finland and it continues all the way to the Northernmost municipality (Utsjoki). The Helsinki-Lahti(-Heinola) motorway is just a part of it.

    I've travelled in several countries in Europe, and compared to those experiences as a Finn I'm very happy with VR, I use extra class if I'm travelling on behalf of company but I'm not sure if I would pay for that for regular trips.

    It's been over a decade since I last took a train so the cars look pretty good inside I have to say. Back then it was quite rare to see double-deck trains around Eastern Finland too, and most of the seats weren't that nice either.

    11:30 the design speed of the line is 220 km/h but it could be increased by increasing the bank angle in bends. Current angle was selected to allow freight trains to also use the line. However, there is only 1 freight train / direction / day as the per-kilometer fee is much higher than on the Lahti-Riihimäki-Kerava route. IC trains are limited to 200 km/h, and only pendolino / allegro trains are able to do 220 km/h. However, trains do their top speed pretty much only if they are running late. If they are on time, they run as slowly as possible to reduce drag (saves electricity) and to make passengers not feel like they are sitting at the next station because there is slack in the timetables.
    14:35 is from somewhere else than a VR train (no text in finnish or swedish, only english, and the kind of look you won't find in any currently operating train by VR). Maybe Amtrak?

    • @klapiroska4714
      @klapiroska4714 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@saaraa7876 It depends on the track too. Helsinki-Turku is limited to 160 at it's fastest. North from Kouvola (so called "savon rata") is 140, and the same goes for North from Luumäki (so called "karjalan rata". Tampere-Pori is 140, and so is Toijala-Turku. Seinäjoki-Vaasa is 120. Tampere -Jyväskylä is 160 at it's fastest. Everything north of Oulu is 140 or less.
      200 km/h is reached only in IC and Pendolino trains in the main line between Helsinki and Oulu and on the Helsinki-Lahti-Kouvola-Luumäki (will soon be extended to Imatra)

Also, the cleaners for VR are cheap labour immigrants who obviously don't care much for doing their job properly - just look at them when they come through the carriage.
