You solve the problems while living in the country not by dividing it. When a leader instructs his followers to attacks its own army, by that vary action he becomes a traitor. The country is not a gift that someone's mother brought in his dowry, people have lost lives while getting it.

He took the help of RAW and India and that says it all, no matter what happens dividing muslims is never a solution, whoever divides and sits with the enemy can't be called a patriot after all.
There's another side of the story. The dictatorship which the Bangali leader tried to resist was actually present in his newly established country as well. So, the problem wasn't that of West Pakistan's army. It was the uncontrollable autonomy of the forces that led to the destruction of both East and West Pakistan.

I am a Pakistani and I don't think he was a traitor. I fact he was a patriotic Pakistani, Fatima jinnah's worker in struggle for democracy and civil rights for common Pakistani man both east and west Pakistan. Military Generals of that time and Z. A Bhutto were the culprits of Pakistan's partition. If they had respected the election results and given the bengali people their due right of rule.,maybe this catastrophic event didn't happen.

I was in East Pakistan because my father was an army officer in Chittagong. It was our corrupt Pakistani Army General's corrupt action that we lost East Pakistan. The most sad part was that he was assassinated by the General, whom he promoted from a Major's rank to a general.
