It's amazing how quickly we can learn to adapt to new situations in our lives. Keep up the great work, Kerry, you are a strong woman. These videos remind me that there is life after amputation as I continue my own journey.
Thank you! I was so scared about my life after amputation. But it was videos that made me see it would be ok if I decided it would be. So I want to inspire others to live their best lives as well. When do you get your implant? I remember you saying soon right?
I use dawn dish soap on my liner becuase it helps cut the oil and grease from your body and i wash with dove soap. That what i was told to do by every one at the prosthetic shop. You have came a long way in 6 months and adapted to becoming a amputee very well. For the record my insurance paid for two liners. Stay safe and hop on
I have a shower head by Moen (iirc) that uses magnets to stay up. You can get a second magnet to hold it lower for seated people or kids. Might make it so you can have the water spraying on you.
I wear my leg to the bathroom, then take it off when seated. Works great 👍 I always felt as if I was going to fall when lowering to the shower seat. That solved that 😁 Castile soap is the Bomb 👍 Where do I find the spray your using? Didn't see the link. Thanks for the tips, always helpful !!
Thank you! I almost fell off my seat the first time I lifted up my foot to wash it since I didn’t have a foot on the other side to keep me up 😂 the magnesium spray is at the bottom of the description.
I just had a question pop in my head. How do you get into the shower without a shower bench and only a shower chair??? Surely you don’t just hop over the side of the tub with one leg and limited grab bars! Hmmmm…scratching my head on this.
I watched it again, and saw you steady yourself with the chair back. So answered my own question. Bill wouldn’t have been able to do that little maneuver.
@@nancycoleman5298 correct. I am able to easily steady myself since I have decent balance on one foot. But they make the long benches like you mentioned that stick out of the shower which I started with until I got my balance with one foot.

It's A journey for sure I lost my right foot in Oct. It's been well hard but doable. Wish you the best.
@@juanfootjohn2125 are you a double amputee now?

It’s great to see how independent you’ve become
Agreed! I need to be independent for my own sanity.
Great video again thank you .
Thank you!
Great video! Showering is one thing I get a lot of questions about from amputees, occupational therapists and physical therapists that I work with.
Thank you! Feel free to pass along any content that might help.
Thanks for that. Things I thought would be difficult ,you’ve made easy for me.So thank you.😉
I hope I can take away a few trip ups before others begin their journey!
I needed this, thanks!
You're so welcome!
Wow, that’s awesome. I have a pin system and a lot of socks cause my insurance didn’t cover for the next pocket.

Dawn is gentle too! Great tip! I think I will get another liner as soon as I stabilize and stop changing sizes maybe.
😂 I typically don’t save my my one of my prosthesis said it didn’t make a difference in

I just use the liquid soap we have on hand. I have to put mine on after the shower because my shower is upstairs in where the bedrooms are

Hey on the 26th will be my 1 year Ampu-versary. How to celebrate...humm 🤔
Just like my shower except mine is set up for A missing right leg LOL. I don't shave my leg.
Haha on shaving! 🪒
There's a little stick on device I got on Amazon that holds the shower head where you want it
Thank you!! Is this the one you found? amzn.to/3BtbdjT
I would imagine keeping completely dry inside that liner would be crucial.
I thoughts so too. But I sweat. Water would cause loss of suction. I’m not totally sure yet
Question is that a test socket or a perement one just askin
Currently in a test socket.
May I ask what happened to you that you had to get a below knee amputation?

I sit on the chair while my legs are outside of the tub and swing in. This is why I needed to have the shower doors removed.
Do you grab ahold of the sink while you sit down, to steady yourself? From pictures, I haven’t been able to tell how far the sink is from the tub.
