I feel like if all the most beautiful traits of the goodeid species were bred into a single hybrid bloodline they'd be an incredibly popular livebearer in the aquarium hobby.
Yes true but since they are so endangered people would have a hard time doing that. Also species of different genus' would most like not cross with each other.
Hi Mike really nice video. I recently became a big Goodeid fan and thanks so much for the comment about Aquashella. I will definitely try to make one of their events this year if possible. Keep up the good work!
Another great video Mike one of the few things i get just as excited for as shell dwellers I know we talked about it but once your numbers go up i definitely want some skiffia and bumblebee
I love all my goodieds. My Skiffia multipunctata are my favorite at the moment. Unfortunately as they matured I ended up with only 1 female to 4 males. So I will be looking for more females. Keep up the great work Mike.
Nice man! Building a nice group of goodeid species! Who did you get your toweri & dugesii from? I have the same location & had sent out many back in 2018 but it seemed like many people lost them. Awesome to see yours are doing well, hoping they are descended from mine! As for those Characodon, depending on who you got them from, we may be able to figure out exactly which ESU they belong to. There is an audax ESU hybrid called a red morph that had been imported from Germany about a decade ago & distributed by Greg Sage that phenotypically looks like a high-red lateralis. Once again, awesome fish & thanks for posting. More people should be aware of & keeping these fish!

@@AndrewPiorkowski i hear you on that one idk if you remember but awhile back we talked about me putting up a fish shed so been working on that finally got the building up still loads to do
Thanks Andrew. I got both the Toweri and Dugesii from Pat in Grand Rapids. The lateralis are from Washington state . The person said they were decended from Greg but I didn’t want to assign something to it. I have a similar issue with my Atripinnis.
I got 7 goodieds from our fish club. I understand that they are jeweled split-fins. What tank mates will go with these little fish? Hoping I may add octos or bristlenose plecos.
Thanks for CAREing!
Thanks Dan. Important that we keep these fish going.
Thanks Mike, I'm really starting to get an appreciation for these species, trying to learn as much as possible.
Awesome! There a lot of fun species out their to learn about.
very cool Mike. looking forward to hanging out on Thursday
Thanks Djc20. Thursdays meeting should be fun.

@@FishTankBarn oh yeah I know i have zoogonetics tequila as well so i know the slow breeding
For sure. Usually takes about 6 months to get a colony up and going

You could try them but depending on how you keep your tank it might be too cold for them. Behavior wise they would get along fine with the goodeids
How do I go about purchasing these fish
The Ameca
Vang Vang. I don’t have them for sale. I would look at either aquabid or your local club auctions once meetings start up again.
These guys live near oyster bay
Thanks Nate. Where is Oyster bay?
