Top notch video
Apologize for that pun! Lmao!!
This pun is top of the line
Top notch comment
it's a little rough and took 4 hours But on my SECOND attempt on a different controller face I GOT IT!!! You're 100% right that you'll definitely screw up your first go, and my tip as a noob doing this is to not cut too deep you shoulda really stressed that as you first started. But thanks so much for this guide
Taking material off is easy...putting it back where it came from not so much! Truly a measure twice, cut once situation eh?
This makes me excited as a Luigi main.
Finally, thank you so much
Very helpful video cheers ! Got a nice little notch first time ;:) its not accurate at the moment but it’s helps get them longer none the less. Will work on it to get the best cardinals 👌
If you are scared to try this just do little by. It’s not so hard !
This is incredible, thank you so much
haha this comment is great now having watching radio melee where you talked about how you're basically the sole notcher of the australian scene. gives me confidence that the video is quality
@@AlexRoseGames and he fucking left us wtf
How'd you wrap the cable with steel and where can I get some?
very good tutorial! everything is explained very well, and i can understand it. trying this today
edit: works, but looks kind of janky. at least it isn’t broken.
are the links in the description still the same tools you use to notch to this day?
I want to try out modding with my old controller but it has pretty bad snapback, would adding the capacitor mess up the angles on the notches if I notched it first?
No, snapback capacitors won't affect the notches
What are you using to check the angle of your notches? And what size triangle and square files should I use? And if you got yours of amazon can you link it please. And what is the difference between notching a c stick and a normal one. Cause if it's the same (or you say ots similar enough) I can notch the c stick first for extra practice and then the normal one. But idk if it will be cause the shape of the thing yn.
I think he is using smashscope
The lube type he uses in the amazon link is the dry type
Do you sell notched faceplates?
what's the software you are using to clibrate the notches values ?
I found it. It’s smashscope
Is there a good place to buy faceplates?
Have you ever tried inverting the notch? And by that I mean carving out the area around the cardinals as opposed to carving the area around the diagonals?
That’s a neat idea
Wave dashing/ledge dashing would feel pretty horrible like that though right?
Dang I want to do this but I'm scared and I don't know where my screwdriver are :(
MVP
Where can i find software on the crt your using from please? Great video very informational and helpful
Currently the software is being beta-tested. It will be officially released later this week with an accompanying video
Goomy Smash excellent 😍 i love your videos 👌
@@GoomySmash haha, literally found this right after downloading today
Since ucf is a thing do you still need to check if a controller is “notchable”
Yes- notches aren’t affected by ucf- the only thing that is is the shield drop angles. You still want a controller whose values are as close as possible
i dont really understand the left graphics, could anyone explain what they are?
It's a side view of the control stick gate, like as if you cut the control stick gate in half. A cross section view.
Imagine you set the controller down in front of you then bring your eyes to just above the level of the table.
holy moly
I dont get what it means or what to do when you say rounding our the notch
Hey, are the diamond files you linked in the description the same as you used in this video? I bought them and they look very dirty compared to yours, the triangle file is not an equal triangle and is shorter on two ends unlike yours so I can't really do the method you use to start and they didn't come with a square file like you use to push the values higher.
thanks for this comment, almost bought them assuming it came with the same files he used here
Update: did some more searching for the file set, I think the one he has and meant to link is the, "EZE-LAP 600F Fine Grit Diamond Needle File Set " on amazon. Product description includes the correct file profiles.
should I get practice faceplates for this?
yeah. just find whatever 4 pack of third party controllers for about thirty bucks and you should be fine.
What program are you using for the first step?
@Kubeja thanks!
can this be done on a dualshock 4, if so can you make a video?
Yes you can do notches on a dualshock just like a pro controller.
Rienne must use a circular file in the corners of the notch
Hey, since Slippi is out, is there a way to do this using a pc instead of a wii?
yeah im super curious about a reader for dolphin
Literally drag and drop boot.dol into dolphin
@@FireShaddow what does that even mean
@@pierreaoun9600 Within the folder for SmashScope, there is a file called boot.dol
This contains the SmashScope program, you can drag and drop this into an instance of Dolphin Emulator
i heard that using adapter might give incorrect values sometimes
i would personally do it on a wii
lets go
Which program is that on the TV? I NEED IT TO NOTCH
Smashscope
Since there is UCF now, why bother making shield drop notches?
easier
How long do notched controllers last ?
Some players are far more aggressive than others but it’s old school Nintendo plastic after all. It will last as long as the controller for most part. Now that ucf is a thing the more sensitive stuff like shield drop notches aren’t really as much of an issue.
You’ll probably wear down the notch enough to drift into a different value eventually, but you should be able to make corrections with the info in this video. If you’re careful when renotching the faceplate should last years.
editing the video to get rid of the crt ringing wouldve been nice
now i understand why notches are so expensive
Yo I know you from twitter

I HAVE THE SAME CRT
Wow this is fucking nuts.
With no emotion he said I call this the angle of the dangle
my stick resets to 0.0250 smfh idk what to do
Replace the potentiometers and:or stickbox
roll the controller lottery again. I have 6 and some of them are hot trash, I'm talking resetting to 0.1 and higher
@@AlexRoseGames yeah mine got progressively worse so I’m gonna have to find another
Just asking this out of curiosity, do notches help in ultimate? Particularly for pika quick attack angles?
multishine controllers sells notches specifically for ultimate. but they are so useless lmao.
multishine controllers are a scam
It’s mad how far people will go over a game
Good video but sometimes I can almost feel you breathing into me
noooo don't expose our secrets :(
cheater
Hurtful :'(
Y’all really trying too hard 💀
