      Perhaps showing why the winning teams have riders who concentrate more on pedalling up them than rolling down - Ineos once upon a time albeit with a different name

    The perception of speed with this camera angle is definitely intensified. Tom is a unique rider in terms of skills, low weight, low center of gravity, I'd assume that in general his lines might be difficult to replicate by bigger riders in twitchy descents - quite a show!

      When watching on a video from this perspective, it looks insane. But in the past, I did very similar things, in French Alps descending 86 km/h for prolonged time. My highest speed was 94 km/h in Bosnia and Herzegovina on a training ride. I had wind in the back, and it was a straight down segment without corners. I was 18 then. Now at 52 and a son of 16, I think twice before I let myself go like that and probably hit the brakes much faster... But once again, it looks much scaring when you watch it, then when you are actually on the bike. Okay, you need the sikls. I grew up between the mountains, and every training ride was climbing and descending. And back then, even without a helmet! Bikes and brakes were also of a lesser quality.

    • @And-rc9yy
      @And-rc9yy 25 дней назад

      I too had similar experiences but Tom has much more skill than I ever had. I was more recklessly out of control with buckets of good luck. Definitely worse brakes in the 80's and 90's. Try this on C-Record Delta brakes, no thank you.

He knows he's on camera, he knows how many views it gonna make, a terrible-scarce road, lot of risk. U can clearly see he sprints on a 6% gradient at 60k/h. He was full gas better than on a tour race, cause he never had to be full gas on a Tour race by the finish, like Poggio or Morzine.
