Izzy was definitely very good but the thing what made him great was the band he was playing in. That early Gn’R was a magical combination of different kind of talents. Izzy completed the picture perfectly. If we are talking about pop/rock music rhythm guitar, there are names like Keef, James Hetfield, Malcom Young, Nile Rodgers and EVH. Those guys have had long careers full of amazing rhythm guitar palying. For Izzy it was mostly the Appetite.
When I was learning to play guitar I would pan to each side of the stereo spectrum and learn both Izzy and Slash's parts. I always loved the way they complemented each other. Great cover.
Izzy was so underrated. I don't think that gnr would have made it as big as they did without him. Just look at how many songs he was a major part of making. So underrated!
@@splash_gnr actually, they had never been tha awesome without him. Just take "Ghost" from Slash's solo album under consideration. Didn't you have that feeling, when hear it for the first time? Love GNR it's the band that got me playing guitar! I always try to learn both Izzy's and Slash's guitar parts. The best thing is they never really play the same riffs on a song.
Good cover, definitely good one using the black beauty that was izzys main in early 85. Then the hollow body guitars. Should cover welcome to the jungle he plays a great rhythm on that
Excelente!. One of the best songs in that album. If Izzy was still playing with the band, they would sound better. And the reason that album is a masterpiece is mainly because of Mike Clink and then Izzy Stradlin. Yes, they are all talented musicians but Izzy has a special magic in him so does Adler. So at my age, and after all these years of being a fan of the band, I would put Izzy first in the creative order, then Adler and Duff, then Slash, and Axl last when it comes to musical arrangements. But obviously, missing any of these guys, the band is not Guns N’ Roses. Yes, is nice to see 3 original members playing live, but Duff needs Adler and his radiant energy and the whole band needs Izzy to bring balance. - By the way, Matt and Dizzy did a great job too, they could also be considered an extension of G N’ R-.

Actually most of the studio recordings were done on either the ES 175 or 135. The semi-hollow body gives it a fuller, more ringing sound. He usually preferred the LP Custom for live performances, but you'd see him with the 135 from time to time.
You guys need to know and remember Stradlin was never a pure out rhythm guitarist in the traditional sense. First off, he did the first solo in Nightrain and all the solos in Think About You. (Maybe more) Second, when they both played the chords in the songs Izzy would normally just use voicings of those chords and inversions so that it wouldn’t sound just like one guitar being doubled in the studio or live. As far as Slash is concerned, Slash actually never wanted Izzy in the band or felt a need for a second guitar but the story goes that when Slash heard Axl sing on a demo tape (from Hollywood Rose) Slash said «that is our guy, we need to get that guy in our band» and at some point Axl said (I think to Slash) «Izzy goes where I go. If I join this band Izzy is coming along too» [paraphrased]
