I can’t believe this car with all its smart car technology doesn’t shut that mirror off automatically after a time out. My ten year old Chevy does that.
Future tip - If you own a modern car and a bunch of weird electrical glitches start happening... always start with the 12V battery. Assuming it's fully charged, disconnect it for 15 minutes and re-connect. This will likely solve these issues. Because there are so many modules on modern vehicles communicating through CAN networks, it's easy for one of them to flip out and cause a bunch of others to do so as well.
Ford should push an OTA that would allow a car that sits idle for more than 15 min to shutdown any aux or components coming off the 12v battery. Oddly enough, my Hybrid has a "sleep" state whenever the 12v is lower than 9.5volts. Perhaps it's not natively on by default
The high voltage batteries are supposed to re-charge the 12v battery, but I keep hearing about problems with the 12v battery, so Ford needs to provide a fix for this. Also, there is a little door on the front of the car that pivots open giving you access to the 12v battery cable, so you don't need to remove all of those panels.
Reading the comments below where several others have had the same problem, I am rather surprised that the Ford folks you spoke with for over an hour were not able to pin point the problem which seems to be a common one.
There is a little diamond shaped port on the front middle to passenger side of the bumper cover. If you remove that cover there is positive and negative cables from the 12v battery. So that you don’t have to remove all the plastic if it only need a jump because something got left on. Otherwise if you have to replace the 12v battery you will have to remove all the plastic to get to the actual battery.
So in conclusion, the "Stupid Issue" was you having left the inside light on? You would have killed the 12 volt battery in an ICE vehicle had you done the same. Get a grip!
i have read that the same thing happens to the C-Max Energi. When the 12v battery dies it causes a bunch of error codes and such. I can only imagine how much the stealership would have charged you. You do know they typically make more money off of service & repair than the actual sale of vehicles.
Good to see you can "jump" a Mach-E, can't do that on Tesla old low volt batteries, new ones last a lot longer. It's pretty dumb that an EV does not time out an accessory light. I get it on an ICE vehicle., but not on a vehicle that relies on a battery. Pathetic.
My car would not charge. RUclips mentioned reboot. I looked at the charger and it was yellow coming off the wall. I shut off power at the box and turned it back on. The blue light came on and car is now charging. FYI everyone.
Not sure if you’re gonna answer back, but I had a weird question. I recently bought a marquee a couple months ago and I noticed that each time that I charge it I’m losing miles. What am I doing wrong?
This is a common problem with many EV's for whatever reason that big fat batterypack you sit on top of does not charge your 12volt, friends 2023 Kia EV6 GT did the exact same thing after 6 months of ownership (May 2023) She was told an OTA update in June would fix the issue, so far so good.
That’s weird, that happened to her. My 2018 tesla model 3 gave me a message on the main screen, informing me that my 12v battery needed replacing, to call tesla immediately. I did, and they came out the next day to my house and replaced the 12v battery in 10 minutes. At no charge. The car is still under warranty. The woman must have ignored the message on the screen. Kinda hard to do because it repeatedly comes back to warn you. 😢 As the IT guy often said to us at work, when we had computer issues. “User error”.
You can't close the doors if the battery is dead? Wow, great design. It reminds of the time I rented a gas-powered Mustang maybe 20 years ago at the Providence airport. I bought a cup of soda at the airport. I put it in the Mustang cup holder near the shifter, turned the key and tried to shift into drive. Problem is, my cup in the cupholder blocked the shifter so I had to take out the cup to put it in drive.
Yea that’s what I was looking at, there’s a bunch of accessories that run off just the 12v, will definitely be checking everything before getting out of the car now 😂
Omg! 😳 I would have freaked out! 💯 percent. I would taken the car to the dealership fuss saying I need a new car, that somebody needs to fix it today. I would have been all over the place, you did a great job. Good thinking!
Good Job ! Would the wires in the little pop out on the right side of the front bumper have helped at all, in this case? I'm disappointed in Ford for taking back Blue cruise. It was in the Mach E when I bought it. No one told me it would be repoed. Keeping watch on my tires. Or are they really mine??
While putting a check on you because it's hard to believe that the lights really don't go out with all the other auto protection. I did notice that, that mirror is really good for pulling nose hair. 👃🤣
With the way things are going right now, all will be forced to own electric cars one day, but ...........................this is why i don't want one right now. As long as gas pumps are still avail I will be pumping gas. Good luck to all EV owners.
*That’s a design flaw on Ford’s part. Most modern vehicles have a timer set so even if you forget the lights on while the vehicle is turned off, they’ll automatically shut off after a few minutes* to save the battery from draining. Crazy that such tiny map lights could cause such major issues on an expensive vehicle. Often, if there’s a woman driving or a passenger of the vehicle then the visor will be down with the map lights on while doing make up or just looking at herself so this will happen a lot if you don’t always make sure to check visors every single time you have women in the car. Lol
I have a 2021 premium Mach-e and got nothing but problems with it in 21 months, à real piece of junk, can't wait enough to get rid of it, but there's no other electric sports electric car available right now 🤬🤬
You probably know this aready but dont do anything to the car especially tape yourself jumping it, let them do everything or theyll blame you for messing it up. What ever you do dont diy fix this new tech stuff let them deal with it. This is whats wrong with the new tech its very expensive to fix and they are diying for you to do some thing diy to cancel your warranty be careful. Ive had three EV's ive experienced these issues. Good Luck. One of your other Videos you asked why did you choose Telsa. Here is the answer. Teska would have been right in your drive way fixing it the next day.
There is so much mis-information in this one comment it's incredible. First of all, you're allowed to jump start your own car. If you do it correctly, no damage is going to happen and you have nothing to worry about. Ford doesn't hire people to sit on RUclips and watch for people trying to diagnose issues with their car. Second... there is no such thing as cancelling your warranty unless it's a salvage title. You can do things to your vehicle that will void specific warranty repairs (modifications), but it does not "cancel your warranty". And thirdly, certain Ford dealers have mobile service agents who will do the same thing and repair it in the drive. I'll admit Ford dealers are some of the worst to deal with, but there are good ones out there, it's just trial and error to find them.
The fix is Simple, Do not buy an EV, the infrastructure to support them, outside your home charger, does not reliably exist.................................................................
but (most typical) ice vehicles would have their 12V battery die the same way. ice vs ev doesn't make a difference here. what does make a difference is whether or not the car's software has a feature to shut off 12V accessories after a fixed time period after powering off the car. again that's not an ice vs ev thing... just a good vs bad car software thing.
I can’t believe this car with all its smart car technology doesn’t shut that mirror off automatically after a time out. My ten year old Chevy does that.
Checking the 12 V Battery is always the first step in EV issues
Future tip - If you own a modern car and a bunch of weird electrical glitches start happening... always start with the 12V battery. The 12v battery is the only issue I ever get with my car. I got it replaced once and I’m getting that message popping up again 10 months later
Yea seems like a common issue.. all over the Mach-e forums
That door just provides you with access to the jumper wires to pop the hood, it doesn't supply power the whole vehicle.
Hyundai Kia also had these problems
Reading the comments below where several others have had the same problem, I am rather surprised that the Ford folks you spoke with for over an hour were not able to pin point the problem which seems to be a common one.
LOL!!! Come on man. Its the dealership. They are trained to waste your time and money.
Glad you got it resolved. Hopefully Ford will modify that panel for an access door.
There is a little diamond shaped port on the front middle to passenger side of the bumper cover. If you remove that cover there is positive and negative cables from the 12v battery. So in conclusion, the "Stupid Issue" was you having left the inside light on? You would have killed the 12 volt battery in an ICE vehicle had you done the same. Get a grip!
I missed the where he said it had to do with the car being an EV
i have read that the same thing happens to the C-Max Energi. When the 12v battery dies it causes a bunch of error codes and such. I can only imagine how much the stealership would have charged you. You do know they typically make more money off of service & repair than the actual sale of vehicles.

i have a Tesla, it does that as well. I just replaced my 12v
at least Tesla warns you before it happen
Dumb question. Why would you take all the panels off to get to the battery when you open the access door on the front bumper?
You did the right thing all electric car got a 12-volt battery for the lights
Interesting. My C-Max Energy only charges the 12v when the ICE is on, which isn’t much during my work week. Always worried me a little.
Thank you for putting this out there. The 12-volt batteries can be nightmarish for EV owners for sure.
My car would not charge. RUclips mentioned reboot. I looked at the charger and it was yellow coming off the wall. I shut off power at the box and turned it back on. The blue light came on and car is now charging. FYI everyone.

A Tesla vehicle did the same thing and trapped a woman inside of the car for a very long time. After all she went through it was the 12 volt battery.
That’s weird, that happened to her. My 2018 tesla model 3 gave me a message on the main screen, informing me that my 12v battery needed replacing, to call tesla immediately. mine gave me a warning
Well no offense to the trapped lady, but there is a manual release in each door of the Tesla... she dumb
Thank you for share this.
Appreciate it! Glad you found it helpful.
EV were amazing in 1905.

Yikes. That's frustrating. The Prius has a 12v battery as well as the 600v hybrid battery. All the infotainment runs on 12v.
Yea that’s what I was looking at, there’s a bunch of accessories that run off just the 12v, will definitely be checking everything before getting out of the car now 😂
So you dont get killed by 600v.
Omg! 😳 I would have freaked out! 💯 percent. I would taken the car to the dealership fuss saying I need a new car, that somebody needs to fix it today. I would have been all over the place, you did a great job. Good thinking!

Not got nothing but leaving lights on will drain the battery of any car ev or not
Bugs Bugs Bugs, sorry for your trouble man. You ought to see what these cars do in cold weather - like NOT!
trade it in for Tesla problem solved
Oh wow. So Tesla's don't have that problem?! They magically have an infinite 12v battery on theirs? 😂
Ford's quality has taken a nosedive in the last 10 years. Just got rid of my last Ford and will never buy one again.

A Mustang without a V8 isn't a Mustang😊
Found On Road Dead
Fix Or Repair Daily 😂😂
So you caused the problem??
I have a 2021 premium Mach-e and got nothing but problems with it in 21 months, à real piece of junk, can't wait enough to get rid of it, but there's no other electric sports electric car available right now 🤬🤬
Ford could not figure that out? Lol
User error.
😂😂😂
This is RUclipsr thing, right?
I would have You Tubed it just Like you did.
POS EV

And the ignorance goes on. Horse and buggy. I had a horse once his lights went out too.
