First off, Iowa is nowhere near being flat but you need to get off the interstates and 4 lane highways to know that. Also, there are many better places to get burgers and beer than what he mentioned. If you like the club scene, the Court Avenue District downtown has many fine eateries, waterholes and clubs. He only showed the exterior of our Capital and not the interior. Under the rotunda of the Capital, the view of the dome interior is fabulous. Central Iowa has one of the nation's best bike yrail systems. David Byrne loves the bike trails here. He failed to speak of the Des Moines Center For The Arts. It's not a huge museum but it's still quite impressive for its exhibits. The Botanical Center is a geodesic dome on the east side of the Des Moines River just upstream from downtown. Plants from all over the planet are grown there and it has no shortage of colorful butterflies and moths most of the year. He didn't mention the historic Hotel Pattee in Perry. It's no further from Des Moines than Madison County and much, much easier to get to. There are many opportunities for those who like pleasant kayak excursions. No real whitewater but calm streams and gorgeous scenery. There are several quality golf courses in and around Des Moines too. True, I admit Central Iowa isn't a real tourist destination but there's more here to do and see here than most people know. If you know you will be around here anyway, spend some time looking around and please look harder than this guy did.

...and my big gripe, I used to work where the sculpture park is, yes, it's a nice place to hang out but there used to be dozens and dozens of small businesses at that location paying salaries and taxes until they all got ran off. Most of them out of business. Now we listen to our city council whine about how they need more taxes to make end meet. Since I purchased my house in Des Moines, my property taxes have increased almost 5 fold!...nice place to visit.
