I've played Magic and been involved with Magic for years, but this is somehow the first video I've actually made on it! I have a rainbow commander deck I love, and I generally play Jumpstart format. This was really fun to get to bring to the channel, and a massive thanks to MacDara (HE from Cakejumper's channel) for the elaborate production and camera setup we had for this stream!
I don't know how aware you are but that Japanese doubling season you pulled might be worth $100 of dollars XD people really like the art and its quite rare. Time will tell though as its still making it to market. So congrats! and really enjoyed the vid, I just got into magic recently and it seems like I started at a great time
I, myself play blue yellow. That's because I use Dragonite so I set-up in the bench while in the front row is Spirit Reaper in defense position. Sure, I might play a bit of stun, but it's ok because they're playing Snake-Eyes MewTwo.
I wanna personally say thanks to you, RT. Your Bloomburrow deck building stream is what got me and my mom into Magic. I've been having so much fun ever since!
I'm so steeped in Commander Magic, that I most times forget normal Modern is a format that also exists lmao semi-related, would love to see Dan also play Commander, or even show up in one of those Commander channels
They should have a mascot which is just a normal dude who plays magic. "Yup, here's Dave, yes he does play magic, and yes, he maxed out his mom's credit card."
Fun fact: Goblin Oriflamme is based on one of the first cards ever to be banned from tournament Magic. Orcish Oriflamme was a card that had the exact same effect, but it cost 3 mana (2 and a red) instead of Goblin Oriflamme's two. The issue was that the first print run of the game mistakenly printed Orcish Oriflamme's mana cost as 1 and a red. Because the rules of the game at the time were more like "if it's on the card, it's legal," they kind of had to ban Orcish Oriflamme on principle. And now, 31 years later, here it is at uncommon in a core set.
Surprisingly accurate to how i got into MTG, a college teacher recommended the game to some friends and I, and ever since it's become a staple of everytime we get together lol
I really feel Sophie in this with the urge to just play the card u wanna play and then tap your lands. And then having the experienced player keep getting on your case about it lmaoo. PEMDAS or however magic works be damned.
Those players are actually just out of date on the rules. It’s perfectly legal to declare you’re casting a spell first then pay its costs. It won’t actually go on the stack until you pay, but it’s fine to declare it first under the rules
It actually does go on the stack before you pay, whether you've already tapped your lands or not. You put the card on the stack, then do some other steps like choosing targets depending on the card, then activate any mana abilities you need to and pay.
when i was learning magic a friend of mine made a custom walkthrough with like. dnd style maps and routes i could choose and paths and it was a lot of fun. and its always fun to me to see how other people learn the game and its nice to see that theyve made like, a fun how to learn walkthrough because man. it can be confusing.
I can't believe that RTGame Bleeds, I always thought he was the man who killed God and became God but it seems I was mistaken. He is only Mortal at the end of the day Also listening to this, I have no clue what's going on but seeing Dan enjoy himself is so much fun and seeing Sophie learn from him and her becoming sick of his shit is super funny
How to play Magic: Step 1: Accept that you can't afford to play it competitively. Step 2: Get some friends. Step 3: Buy a bunch of bulk. Step 4: Play Commander. Step 5: Forget all other aspects of the game even exist.
Remember one time I approached Mr Rumble Tumble at a Con and asked him to sign a MTG card, saying something along the lines of "I know you probably don't know what this even is" only for him to cut in with "No I play Magic all the time" My jaw was on the floor.
DUDE! yes! i would love to see more of this! I myself play a muldrotha commander and love playing jumpstart in general! can't wait to see more of this set myself!
Yes! Love to see all these creators showing off magic. It’s a great game and I think more people should play it. Especially with foundations having just come out. Such a great set.
Love to see one of my favorite creators playing my favorite game. I play mostly duo green decks, especially Selesnya decks. I love having absurdly large armies and infinite health, it's just fun to be dismissed as a threat to the table until it's too late. Love it when people underestimate green decks that don't focus on ramping. I bring out Gruul decks when I need to win fast, though. Can't go wrong with red/green!
Thank you RT for the wonderful Magic content and everything else! I 've been into Magic since elementary school but no one played with me because it wasn't quite popular in my hometown. I was so surprised and glad when I heard my favorite streamer is also into Magic! Love your content, and hope you are looking forward to the next set, which I do believe have something to do with drifting!:)
Learn new things everyday. I played M:tG back in middle school over 2 decades ago. I didn't know that there was a second main phase after the combat phase. Googling deeper, seems like it was changed from 1 main phase that included post-combat to 2 explicitly separate main phases in the 6th edition rule change, which was right after I stopped playing. Neat.
I love your resin table Dan! I've been meaning to make one for a while with a big slab of wood I have, but I don't have access to the tools I need ): Magic was fun to watch though! I've never played it myself but it looks fun, awesome content Dad!
Foundations is one of my favorite magic sets in a long while, I’ve made a desert landfall deck using some of the new cards and a bunch of stuff from thunder junction.
This is really good timing for someone like me, as I just bought my first precon magic deck (Paradox Power Doctor Who Commander Deck), can’t wait to see how bad I’m gonna be at this game
Not related to this video, but I think it'd be fun for RT to make a copy of his Minecraft server, and then require the players to destroy everything on it
MTG Arena is a great, great way to learn. Its completely free and you get a ton of cards to start with, although nothing particularly spicy. Just by playing certain card types and getting enough wins a day, you can earn currency to buy packs from various sets, and once you open enough packs you get a "wildcard" which you can use to trade in for *any card of that rarity*, which is an amazing feature because sometimes this one card won't stop dodging you, and unlike with paper magic you can't just go and buy one you want.
I remember when my group at colledge a few years back tried to teach somebody mtg, the club provided the new guy a decent starter deck, we thought the club leader was gunna break em in with a simple deck on the same level, nah, guy just brings his nuclear eldrazi deck to the table, guy was a right jerk about it, luckly the leader left after a wile cuz damn that was tradgic
im so excited to learn this game i have a close person in my life and itd be cool to learn without him knowing and get to learn from one of my favorite RUclipsrs

I, myself play blue yellow. That's because I use Dragonite so I set-up in the bench while in the front row is Spirit Reaper in defense position. Sure, I might play a bit of stun, but it's ok because they're playing Snake-Eyes MewTwo.
what's your commander? are you a sweaty ur-dragon player?
They used to call him the magic the gathering king back when he was a professor at college
He graduated from the Tolarian Community College after all
Who was that friendly and incredibly photogenic snail? I think he's the real winner here
We will never know
May I humbly request you use this production setup to do a stream of Go Fish?
Need a game of uno as well
well we need a pokemon card battle
I'd watch that
Yu-Gi-Oh stream but it’s just him trying to read through and comprehend the complete modern rulebook for 7 hours
Miniature painting stream, then we get to watch paint dry again
Dan is really harnessing his inner teacher for this one
I actually have a cert for teaching English language haha
Imagine that the Irishman has an English language teaching cert lol

RT casually opening a 100$ card like it was nothing goes perfectly with the card shop simulator streams
according to Moxfield, it's currently 500 usd!
which card?
@skull4658 the Japanese one at the end, Doubling Season
29:12 is my favourite moment from the whole stream, thanks for teaching me how to play Magic. I'll make sure to use that move in future tournaments!
so proud of you for getting the first win! hell yeah
I for one would love to see you play Magic more. Maybe SpiffingBrit would have a game with you?
Do not let him cook. It’s gonna look like a prozd skit by the end
MAGIC THE GATHERING??? WHAT THE HELL IS A HEALTHY CREDIT BALANCE????
I bet dan would heart this if it wasnt sponsored

It is time to chant the ancient Mantra:
"Did you know that reading the card explains the card?!"
First Pokemon, now Magic… one day, we need to get a Yugioh video from Dan to complete the TCG trifecta
He gets Rarran to teach him how to play Master Duel, and the horrors of the roach
Give him a tenpai deck and watch the horrors unfold
Hearing rtgame dan describe and play out a full snake eyes azamina combo would just be perfect, or hearing him say “I’ll summon big gabonga”

If Sophie is the student and RT is the teacher, then the entity known as *_HE_* is the master and shall smite down any rule breakers he comes across
Dan playing magic isn’t something I thought I’d see in my lifetime (he’s an eldritch being who’ll outlive us all) but I am so here for it

New anime just dropped?
MTG has really changed since I was a kid in the 90s. I still own my cards gathering dust in the closet.
1:18 You mean that Dan, Rumble Tumble Game, the Drift King of Back In College, is a Simic player? I've never been so betrayed
Yep,, it fits. Although I wonder what favourite three colour combination is. I guess it's Sultai, which is Black, Blue, Green.
At least he isn’t Azorius.
Literally sleeving up a deck as I get this notification. This’ll be awesome.

I’ve recently gotten really into Magic, so it’s a welcome surprise to see RT play it. However, this hobby is already burning a hole in my wallet.

Unless the rules have changed (you aren't using the combat trick change so I assume they haven't) you don't have to tap blockers, only attackers.
