Super appreciated the close up video of threading the bobbin. I've been messing it up.

Nice video, specially for people that is going to use this machine for regular sewing and not for sewing AND embroidery. But there are differences between this machine and the 880. First, the LCD touch screen is different, and the Icons on the 880 are more clear and better defined, and the screen is way more responsive, and it is more noticeable when doing embroidery than during sewing. Also, the 880 can sew faster at 1200 spm while the 830 is 1100 spm. The 880 has the Stitch Designer while the 830 doesn't. The 880 has a presser foot library, while the 830 doesn't. The 880 has more than 1700 stitch combinations, while the 830 only has about 1400. The 880 has a color wheel for Embroidery Color Selection, while the 830 doesn't. The 880 has a new Embroidery Unit that is almost 50% faster than the old one, but that unit can not be used in the 830, not even with updates. The 880 has about 400 Built in Embroidery designs, while the 830 only has about 150. The 880 can read multiple Embroidery formats like DST, PES, JEF, EXP, XXX, etc, while the 830 only reads EXP. Those are some of the functional differences between the two models, there are more, but too many to list here. And for those ones who need the user manual for older Berninas like this one, you can go directly to Bernina and download a free PDF copy, or go to this link to get the same PDF copy for free- www.manualslib.com/manual/547019/Bernina-830le.html. Thanks for your time and excellent video. Your slow pace and patience is a big plus for those ones who barely speak English like me that have problems with the language. Thanks again!!!!!

Thanks for sharing this! I just bought a used 820 today! One thing I wonder about & I can’t find it explained in the manual ... what does the presser foot icon with the red exclamation mark ❗️ mean? I noticed it was on your screen also ....

I have had this machine for almost 10 years and have hardly used it because of threading issues. I get the gear icon almost all the time! So frustrating. Don’t you have to thread the bobbin differently for embroidery? You can’t really test the threading for embroidery like you shoe when threading for embroidery, or is there a way to do that?

There is a little tab on top of the machine. Does the thread go in front of the tab or behind the tab as you bring the thread across the top?

I have an 830. It took me a long, long, long time to find where the thread is supposed to go for sewing. Everything under my machine is black and I could NOT see, even with the mirror where the thread was to com out(that fork like looking thing). I had quit using this machine I was so disgusted. I hated the machine, wasn’t having any fun with it at all. Wanted to throw it in the yard. Then one day, just by chance, I was looking at videos and came across Shelly Sews. She had a very up close look of where the thread comes out, under her matching that fork like thing was silver. Then was the change of the game for me. I can’t tell you what that did for me. Sorry, but your video is not helpful for me. No spinning or length if thread never did it for me. You will NOT know when it’s right, you have to be able to SEE and KNOW where that thread is coming out.
