Wow, the instant reaction the Ancient had to the coffee creamer, priceless!! I was employed as the QC lab tech at a company that made canned chicken. I would check the quality of the hermetic seal on the cans each hour. I'll bet that these cans weren't sealed with a shot of steam that is added just 5 milliseconds before the lid is joined to the can body, then sealed. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 pops i totally give you credit man lololololol at least u tried it lol thats awesome hahaha cool old meals but there not good anymore 😅 great video
Too bad I couldn't have gotten them when they were still edible. TFW, Daniel!
Hello :) since they stopped sending cigs in the MRE's how did one get a pack ? love the vids -jb
Apparently they’re sold on base, but they’re (allegedly) tax-free because it’s federal jurisdiction.
@@Sniperboy5551 thank you!!
The word you are looking for with the can lid is "heliograph"... lol The British Army used heliographs for communication in Colonial conflicts prior to WW1...
Believe it or not, I don't ever recall hearing that word to describe the can lid. I like it. Thanks for helping me 'learn something new every day.' Hopefully I'll remember that next time I open a can and the lid can be used for heliographic purposes. TFW, Trooper.
@@MeAncient I am, sadly, a veritable gold mine of useless trivia. Can't remember anything important of course! Another great episode..thankyou! P.S As an ex Aussie Navy man I am not as familiar with "Ratpacks" as we call them....we had galleys and cooks and stewards onboard...lol... but I am fascinated by them.
Those peaches remind me of the movie "Holes" when he opened that can.
I'd forgotten that......nice to see you out there, Kyle!
@@MeAncient It is always an honor to get a reply back from you. Sorry I pick on Ace and I couldn't be your son instead. You are the best Me Ancient! Thank you for your service.
@@MeAncient Funny you replied just then as well....Making a new video myself right now 🤣 Keep up the great videos and I'll try and keep up myself.👨✈️
My favorite was ham and eggs too... Rember getting the Sh*t discs as well? They were to ensure you were not consti[pated. MAN did they work... /grin
The first box is from 1976. On the lid of the crackers with cocoa its says 7 76. July 1976. The second one is from 1977. The crackers and candy say 12 77. December 1977. On the 3rd box I didn't see a date . On the fourth box b-1 unit crackers and candy says 2 79. February 1979
I appreciate the clarification, Jacob. I'm going to look at the other ones more closely to see if I can figure out what year they are. TFW!
We didn't get MRE's till 1983 - USMC-1980-1990
As soon as the air hits the food you get instant rot. LOL.
That's what it smelled like.....didn't smell bad when the can was first opened, but grew in stench as time went by. TFW
Do you watch steve1989 mre? Either way I like your videos.
I have never watched a steve1989mre video. Only a part of two of them. I want my content to be my own perspective. I see he has a huge following. That's cool. I never would have thought that MREs were so interesting to so many people, but when you had to eat them for your every day food, it really changes your perspective, I guess. TFW, Charley!
Yeah I started watching him a long time ago. So now I kinda want to see what everyone else thinks about rations. MRE Nation on RUclips he literally owns his own company that makes rations. I have always thought MRE'S were cool. Looking forward to seeing your new videos.
@@MeAncient
If you had seen some of Steve's videos, you would have known not to mess around with that creamer. The chocolates seem to be hit or miss. The rest is just common sense.
I don't think that I have ever seen Steve reject a cup of instant coffee from a ration of any age. The instant cocoa is another matter...
Steve has learned some lessons the hard way. He was actually poisoned by a Chinese (I believe) MRE that was still within the expiration date.
Be careful out there Me Ancient.
I thoroughly enjoy the videos!
Steve was the first MRE reviewer I watched, and have now caught several other guys. All bring a different perspective to it, with their different experiences.
How long ago did you serve my dad was in the marine corps from 83 to 87
I was in for 4 years, active duty. 80 - 84. I was stationed on East Coast. How about your father? TFW
@@MeAncient he was in from 83 to 87 he was stationed in twenty-nine palms California for his basic training active duty he was stationed in bahrain then stationed over in Okinawa
@@viking_wheels_gaming I never made it West Coast. After my school in Florida I put in for Cuba, Alaska, and Hawaii.....they gave me North Carolina - Camp LeJeune. I was stationed out of there for the last 3 years. I did various temporary duty stations, the NATO float mentioned in the last few stories, and I was in Beirut in 1983, when the US Embassy was hit. Again, TFW!
If i ever find a ham & eggs that is still good ill have to send it to ya. Might be newer but people will get the idea
Now that would be cool! TFW
SEMPER FI my brother I've ate all those before
You know it, Spoon. Me as well. I was okay with the spiced beef, but not a real favorite, unless there was a good heat source for bringing to a good simmer. TFW
I save my pb for shtf !! And its comin
It would have been funny if you dropped the creamer in and it started fizzing up! 😂
Steve would gobble all that down
I doubt even he would chance black peaches.
I was in from 72 to 76.I remember when they stopped putting Cigarettes in C-rats they took ours away anyway so no big deal. When you did get them they were stale Anyways Happy Marine Corps Birthday all you jarheads
Like the video .🙂
Thanks for liking
Have you guys ever watched Steve1989 on youtube. His videos are cool but one thing he never does! Is mess with the creamer! Lmfao! I assume he learned his lesson once. Like you just did. Love the videos guy’s. Its cool its father and son. My dad would never do this so enjoy and keep it up. Im a fan
Tks....I saw him after Asa and I ate part of a meal on one of his catch and cook videos. The way everyone liked it, I figured we had 'discovered' something, only to find that RUclips was full of MRE reviewers. Oh, well. I decided to throw my hat in the ring. TFW, Nick!
What does it mean by ABC and so on what does it mean
I'll be doing a video on the differences one of these days, John. Stay tuned, please. TFW!
My heart stopped when you put the spoon of peaches up close to your face. I thought you were going to eat it!
