I encountered a skunk adult with three babies on a trail similar to this and stopped. They jittered and shimmied but didn't spray. I tip-toed past. Precious.
Mama skunk is beautiful with that thick white stripe. I saved a baby once that got separated from it's mother and siblings in the road. I picked it right up and brought it to the mama and did not get sprayed. The babies are such little cuties.
I picked up a baby and photographed it as it explored our backyard. When I picked it up, it purred like a kitten, closed its eyes and went to sleep. :-)
