By looking at the first subwoofer and the moisture problems I was wondering seriously what happened, the glue didnt seem to hold and the wood would just chap off of the screws, not at all solid in place I would look into another type of glue, and nailing is useless when using joint straps
I'd definitely not call it restoration considering everything pretty much has been replaced, except the speaker basket / magnet. But, if you have a source of cheap materials, I suppose it shows you can copy a an enclosure if you had a good speaker but the wood was rotted. If buying all these materials / tools, it's for sure expensive.

Before MDF, there was particle board, plywood, and solid woods. A quality 6 or 7 ply plywood will not ring. Also MDF is ungodly heavy !
