IMPORTANT: Some people with female characters have experienced issues with getting the tome from the inn-keeper, but were successful in getting a tome from a male elf NPC that they gifted instead. I am not sure which male NPC (or if it matters) but I will update this comment with more info if / when I get it.
It works with Female Characters it just took alot more gifts 4 flower bunches 4 Dried flowers and a couple of Random gifts
It works fine for me with three flowers. With a female char . You just need resting at the inn between the gifts
Wasted 10+ flowers on the inn keeper and got nothing out of it. gave 2 flowers to the archer just outside the inn and got the scroll.

When I saw the dude i just said "what an oddly dressed fellow" and went on about my day lol took me a while to finally talk to him
I found the village exploring and didn't even know about the quest until later
Well, no,you can got to the elven village regardless.
You don't even need to understand elvish, since the options for the vendors are the same as every other.
You can easily guess what options to pick to buy, sell and enhance, etc.

@iamergoproxy3476 didn't really look at his face/ears. When I first got to town I talked to most npcs and mainly got 1 liner responses, so I was kinda over it when it came to talking them lol
This video about to blow up 😂 I think your the first to post actually how to learn elvish accurately.
You need to give the Inn Keeper 3 bunches of flowers but the key is split them up over 3 days. So 1 bunch per day. Give 1 bunch then sit on the bench outside the Inn there for a day then give her No.2 bunch and sit on the bench for another day then give her the final bunch and she'll give you the tombe for your main pawn.
This doesn’t seem to work for me. I gave her 5 bunches of flowers over 5 days and nothing yet.

a capcom pawn walks around the elf village who knows elvish. I fav them and resummon them when ever im there lol.
I did the same thing. The pawns name is CAP.

I saw a pawn at a rift , he mentioned he can translate elvish. I didn't pay attention and didn't hire him. That same day I find the elven city. 😅
You actually just have to raise the pwrsins affinity to max. I gave her the necklace that enhances friendship as a gift and she instantly granted me the wordsmith
I did this without a guide, since my Pawns talked about befriending Elves, warming their hearts and they'd surely try and communicate with us.
However it took me way too many flower bouquets, around 8+ I think. Probably bugged, idk because now I have a bunch of Elves running around, blushing whenever I pass by
Really helped a lot. I didn't think the players' main pawn could learn the eleven language.
Better way is to give 2 flowers to one of the archers just outside the inn. better than maybe getting the scroll from the inn keeper. wasted 10+ flowers on the innkeeper and got nothing.
rook, the first pawn you have that the brine gets, knows elvish. you can resummon pawns you have previously summoned.
I resummoned him, and he couldn't speak a lick of elvish

Ive done 2 bunches of flowers. With i came back later for a 3rd time to give to flowers i forgot to take it out of my storage. But when i backed out of the gift screen she just gave it to me.
hopefully they have gutz and griffiths Armour, like the first one. please do a video on that if your find out.

For those who gave her dozens flowers with no success: try a different npc. I gave silver ore to elven blacksmith everyday, and after 3 days, I got the item from her!
I gave her 8 flowers and still haven't got any thing

Perhaps, if I have time. But I am a long way out from being able to confirm that, let alone do it. All I can say is that I will continue making guides for DD2 for as long as it remains a viable option!

You need to split up giving the 3 bunches of flowers over 3 different days. Day 1 give one bunch., then go sit at the bench thats at the Inn entrance there for a day, then give her the 2nd bunch and go sit on the bench for another day and give her the final 3rd bunch of flowers.

Edit- went to another female elf and gave flowers over 2 days and got it almost immediately.
You can also use magick archer for the quest
Didn't work for me. I did gift her 3 b- flowers rested. Gave her a dried flower. Nothing rested agian gave b-flowers x3 rested gave her dryed flower. Nothing gave her some best meat x3 rested nothing. Maby it's just buged for me. Will try agian in ng+ I geas
I give her the 3 bunch of flowers , i sleep there and then i gift an item but she give me nothing, i repeat this 2 time but nothing😅😢

You can only increase NPC's affinity ones pr day. So do this 3 times over 3 days :)

Do you have to be somewhere in the main story for her to give it to you? I got it on my first playthrough, but deleted my save cause of the sphinx quest so I could start over to get all 10 questions right. I rushed to the elf village to get woodland wordsmith again in my new save, but she won't give it to me. I have traded the necklace and 5 flowers and nothing.
There seems to be a bug , i learnt the Elvish and just continued playing . Came back some Time later and the Translation is gone
I gave my pawn the woodland wordsmith and a different can pawns only have one specialization ?
Gotta remember to turn subtitles before starting any dialogue with elves or you will miss the entire conversation
I am going the route of Archer magical Archer and Mystic Spearhead is Elvin blacksmithing the best route for me or should I get Dwarven smithing?
Hey, one of my pawns has the 'Hyperboreal Lorica' armor and when I search it up it says its only sold by Grisha, who is the armorer here. But it's not in her stock for me, can anyone help me out? Is there anything I need to do to unlock it?
Is this Quest Time sensitive? Or can you come back at level 30? Asking because I haven't started yet. Also should I start with Archer first?
Good question. My thought is that it is. It should say next to the quest in the journal (it will have an hourglass icon next to the quest). You can also revert / load the game from the last long rest at an inn to go further back (if you just wanted to check whether or not it is time-sensitive).

as i just came to this video trying to learn elvish after finding the village by myself, i am lvl 36 with 2.7 maxed vocations. BUT ive only just cleared trevo mine of goblins so i am not far in the story
Keep in mind that even if it is time sensitive, the clock only starts counting down once the quest has been started.
Anything in the village worth making the trip if idc about archer class ? Obsessed with exploring everything, but i think i need to further the main plot a little.
The enhancements they do to your gear is unique to that location, just like the other two main cities. I believe it increasing magick stat higher then the other cities.

Where did you get the flowers in the video?
I started giving the innkeeper some flowers since 3k gold was too steep for me, but I did not give enough to trigger the mission. Thx for the video. New subscriber.
I do not have the option to give a gift to the elven woman, the option you choose is the storage for me.
Bottom left of screen you can see the button prompt. It should be square if ur on PlayStation or x on xbox. It’s not an actual talking point you choose
i think its a glitch, some NPCs i never see it either and it just random....
If you give her a pendant you get the tome straight away
Press x/square when the dialogue box opens. That's the button the give gifts, there's no dialogue option for it

Did you go to your inventory and use the scroll from the items screen?
You then need to equip the specialization. Maybe your pawn had another one already equiped.
Hey you do not just get the elf wordsmith from the inn keeper you can get it from the blacksmith or armour dealer I gave her a gifts too get a discounts from her later on when I came back too check on the tree quest related you know the one

I've given this lady 20 flowers now over 20 days, and she still hasn't given me the tome. I don't understand why, she's blushing and I have her affinity maxed as I can change her outfit in the npc listing. I am female, so maybe as mentioned this is why, I wish I knew which male your'e refering to in the Arbor.

For example one in Batthkal and one in secret arbor at the same time

@@fatalish1t49 not that I know of. Use them with care. Hopefully we get an eternal/infinite use ferrystone soon.
Best way is to just buy them for 10K at the stores. Its expensive but they do refresh after a couple in game days

If your character is female you may need to gift/increase affinity with a male elf character
Also quick question. Did you have a random pawn that already spoke Elvish? Think while completing the quest like that bugs any it out of that playthrough. Just started a ng+ with no elvish interpreter and she gave it in 3 flowers.
I've been gifting her for half an hour, I have waited days, paid 30 000 gold, and even left for a bit then came back (with/without pawn with elven speak) and yet no dice

It’s not bugged, I tested and confirmed, if you play as female gift to male NPC, if you play as male gift to female NPC.
How do you change specializations if you’ve already applied it once and then put another one on after ?

Apparently you'd need a second copy of the specific tome in order to change to a different specialization.. which is just so dumb if that's true.
Maybe a dumb question but.... Can I change vocation to archer and then go back to thief WITHOUT losing vocation rank as thief? I hope you can :)

Not working for me. Given her plenty of flowers and stayed at the inn. All of these scrolls are kind of buggy and not what guides claim from experience.

Odd, I gave her a total of 10 flowers and wasted a lot of money on her inn and I never got the tone 😢
I think some tome acquisitions in this game are bugged. I got this one easily enough, but never got logistician or the healing one you start in Melve with the little girl, despite doing their quests and talking to them countless times afterward.
That could very well be the case.
Did you complete the quest for Daphne? She's the little girl by the entrance to the slums, I heard her quest also has to do with getting the logistics tome.
@@hanzohattori4078 Oh yes. In fact she follows me around the city with her red cheeks constantly. I've done all the content for these people, they just never gave me the tome.
@@Dxwill10 i just finished house of the blue sunbright quest given from the lady at the top of the hill the entrance area to the slums, give sebastian a detox potion, waking powder, and a rugged bone from a cyclops for his journey after a day or two he'll be home finish the quest then rest and go down to find daphne will give the forager tome. still got nothing from kendrick though sadly, just new dialogue. the way i got the medic tome i bought the item gave it to her then when i got to valmund i met her father after meeting her then while running around she stopped me and gave me the tome. i cant find anymore quests for kendrick so ig that one is bugged... might try killing and reviving him at ther cemetary to see if that changes anything.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but cant you just skip all those extra steps and just give the innkeeper flowers?
it's possible, but I can't confirm it and so this is just what I did to get it myself.
I can confirm you can skip everything and just gift flowers to the inn keeper for the scroll

Can only gain affinity from giving one gift per in game day.
I did the quest, but I dont have the option to give gifts to inkeeper. Do you know how can I fix that?
It’s a specific button to give gifts. the X button on an Xbox controller for example

If you are playing as a female this might happen. Try gifting flowers to a male elf npc in the same area and see if they give you the tome. Hope this helps.

My question is this...im about level 22 and ive still yet to do the main quests in Venworth - The Caged Magistrate and Disa's plot.
They are waiting to be done.
Ive just changed to Archer and i see that Elf guy waiting to be talked to.
What do you recommend brother?
Do them 2 main quests then talk to the elf and start his quest or doesnt it matter which?
Im sure i have a party member that understands elvish too but i could be wrong.

I've just looked and I have a pawn ( though he's 2 levels below me now. Was about to get rid of him ) that has Specialization - Woodland Word Smith who can interpret Elvish for me.
Hey Daz, feel free to do the elvish quest first. Should be easy enough at level 20+ and you can always go do the main quests later on.
Still wish they didn't add mtx to the game.. but I am having fun anyways.

Check the charnel house in vernworth for him? Maybe he died.
It doesn’t matter who in the city you raise your affinity with but if you’re male it must be a female elf and if you’re female then it must be a male elf
how do you give gifts? and also, how the fuck are you supposed to figure that out? XD were there any indicators that she would like to get some flowers, anywhere?

Hmm, I'm assuming you rested overnight at the inn for 3000 gold? I did that after gifting a few Bunch of Flowers and also several moonglow flowers. After resting, I spoke to the inn keeper again and gifted one more item. She then started a dialogue with me and gave the tome. This was also after doing everything else shown in the guide.
It could have to do with main story progression, I was near the end of initial tasks given by Brant when I did this questline. I also have the Sorcerer and Warrior Vocations.
Sorry it is not much to go on, I will let you know if I figure anything else out. Hope this helps.

You don't need to learn Elvish to speak to Doirean, she learns your language from her brother and can speak to her after the mission where you save her.

For the innkeeper to get the elvish tome? No, my arisen is female and it worked fine.

Useless, done all the quests already. Wasted 15k and 6 flowers on her, nothing happens, doesn't work.
If your main character is female then try doing the same with a male elf NPC. I've seen a few comments from people saying that worked. Of course, I am not able to test this seeing that I am limited to one character and they are male.
