There are a lot of small folds happening that are very obscured by your hands, and the paper all being one color makes it difficult to distinguish what's going on. It would be helpful if a link to a diagram were included in the description.

If i have colour on one side white on the other which side starts up or down

start with white side up, the colour being visible on the faces of the crane base
