I have a 2005 Jimmy and just spend a lot of money with a mechanic to fix my transfer case issues. Now we got 6 inches of snow and ice and I was stuck with my 4wd not engaging. I found your video, was actually able to see this was not engaging and although I was not able to repair it where I was, it allowed me to basically block it into place and get me going. 11 years after you posted this, THANK YOU!!
May I ask how you were able to keep it engaged temporarily? I have a 99 blazer and in Kentucky. We got ripped with ice and snow and my 4x4 wouldn’t engage.. would like to know the trick and what to have on hand if I ever get stuck
@ at about 2:20 in the video he shows the actuator and the diaphragm and actually squeezes the diaphragm in. The vacuum tube would actually suck the air out and collapse that diaphragm. That pulls the disc and the actual cable in. The whole movement is maybe an inch and a half. All I did was cut two pieces of wood about an inch and a half long. They were maybe 3/4 of an inch squared, so not really big at all. I manually pushed the diaphragm in and put the two pieces of wood in against the metal part of the diaphragm and the edge of the cable housing so basically I just held the diaphragm in. I used a couple of zip ties just to keep those wood pieces from wiggling loose. Super low tech engineering and keeping a couple of zip ties and two pieces of wood so small in the glove box was all took. Plus the socket set to take that tray off.
You know a genuine mechanic when they tell you the about the tools, and hazards, first. They explain how parts work before they explain the problem. As a guy that likes to fix his own vehicles, I sincerely appreciate these types of mechanics. Down to earth, save you money, mechanics.
I replaced 4 of those vacuum switches in 4 years. I finally diagnosed the root cause on friends hoist. We traced the 3 vacuum lines, one was a vent that went up near right headlight. The factory sliced the hose installing the battery tray and the slice allowed contamination to get to the switch and it ceased up. I cut the hose below the slice and put the filter end back on. No issues for the next 15 years.
thanks alot for this video, the dealer wanted $400+ to fix it and your 7 min video and a half inch socket fixed it, I also disconnected the computer for a few min but either way the thing under the battery needed switched so thanks again bud it was very much appreciated
On my 2002 blazer, I was able to remove the drivers headlight and look through a hole beneath the battery tray to see if the vac module was functioning with engine running and battery in. Headlight removes with no tools, just two L brackets to pull up.
awesome! few hours ago was on my way to go bowling while there is about 6 inches of fresh snow in the road, make it outta the driveway in 2wd go to pop it in 4wd think its engaged.. no no. end up gettin stuck. gotta go diagnose this tomorrow morning and this video helped a ton because i had no idea how it worked or what could go wrong Thanks!
I now can start to diagnose my problems on a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer. When it does not engage into 4x4 auto, high, or low the light just blinks in cold weather. But in warm weather it will engage with in 15 seconds and the light will stay on solid. Now I can test it and see what it is. Thank You for this informative video!!!!! Roger
My front differential is not engaging. one of the comments listed describes the transfer case oil coming back through the vacuum. Three years ago thatto my truck did this and filled my heater switches and all my vacuum lines with transmission fluid...it was caused by a transfer case seal between the transmission and transfer case had failed thus allowing transmission fluid to fill my vacuum lines. I had to have an expensive repair behind my dash to get my heater controls operational again Now three years later. My vacuum appears to be an issue on this front differential issue.. Thank you for this. It gave me a cause and an affect for my particular problem. I'll bet that little vacuum switch has been filled with oil also. ✌️😎
I had same problem with mine, 1999 GMC Jimmy. Pressing 4hi or 4lo and indicator lights would blink but never lock. I have the 4 button unit so the 4x4 vacuum solenoid is on the firewall and easily accessible. Rather then pulling the battery I just pulled the vac line from solenoid that goes down to axle actuator. No vac present when pressing 4Hi, next I pulled the vac source line on the solenoid, still no vac. Traced it back to the Tee fitting on driver side. Pulled the Vac feed line going to manifold at Tee, no vac. Turns out I had a 1" gaping crack in the vac source line! Easy 15 minute, $2 fix. As a bonus my idle is much smoother too! Thanks for the video!
Thank you! my 4x4 was acting up on my plow truck in the middle of a snow storm i manually pulled the wire and sent it. got the job done saved me a lot of money.
Dude I dont even own an S-10/Blazer/Jimmy/S-15 but I watched this because my parents have one and these trucks are so common that I know at some point I might end up aquiring one and needing to repair this. Top notch. I subscribed to you a long while back and just found your channel again. Kudos. Thanks for the great explaination.
Had a question is there a spring that returns it to 2wd position? Mine locks in ok but wont unlock for about 50 miles and i tried back and forth tricks
This helped me fix my 1997 4dr 4x4 blazer. It was a sticking cable going from the vacuum actuator under the battery to the front gearbox.. dripped some lube into the end of the cable and worked it a few times, then the vacuum actuator could pull the cable out again. 4x4 is working now...yahooo... thanks
Its August 18 2020. Just bought a GMC jimmy 2000 FOR $1000 dollars with 185000 miles . This truck is in great condition. Only problem was da 4×4 was not engaging saw you video man this truck its in BITCHING PERFECT conditions thank you saw much... best deal of my life
Hey Mark, great how to. I've been through mine and still having issue. Replaced dashboard switch, replaced cable and actuator. For a while it was working. However then I started getting back pressure and trans fluid pushing out my vacume lines and back into the actuator which degraded the rubber and popped two of them. As near as I could tell vacume switch failed and allowed trans fluid to somehow be moved past. Replaced Switch now, but dash has yellow 2wd light on, and no motor click no 4wd?
Going to check this system in my blazer in the morning. My 4WD engages just slowly. The little valve you mentioned, is that somewhat of a challenge to change?
I've just sort of reverse inherited a 2000 Jimmy, from my son, and have high hopes for my future relationship with the vehicle. When looking for gas sending unit replacement info, your videos were the 1st I found. Great video work! Excellent camera angles. I'm pleased to find that there is so much info about this vehicle available online. Seems to speak to what a great vehicle they are. Thanks for all your input!
just wanted to let you know that I have a 2000 chevy blazer and this Video was helpful for me finding the reason that it wouldn't get over 5 mph. it was the piece that the electronic wires plug into for the 4 wheel drive, that makes the 4 wheel drive work. thank you for your video.
ALL Blazer drivers, I drive a 2000 blazer LT... My 4x4 would shift but not lock and the light would blink much like many of yours did. I never did find the vacuum switch on top of the transfer case and was told my model of blazer did not have one. But what I did do was take out the battery and pan like this video showed. I unplugged the hose from the actuator after disassembling the bracket from the body and checked the hose to make sure it had vacuum. My vacuum hose had been rotted so that
Thanks for the video i have a 2003 blazer that the 4x4 quit working once i removed the battery and the plate i saw the actuator was bad replaced and ready to go.Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Excellent video. Good camera shots and clear, knowledgable explaination. Better than most service information commercially produced out there. Walking out the door now to fix the problem on my neighbors Jimmy. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your video on the blazer and gmc 4 wheel drive trouble shooting, I have a 98 Jimmy and the vacuum hose got next to the exhaust manifold and burned in half. Sorry to ramble but god bless you are the man. If you don't already you should have your own shop.peace and have an awesome day.
@@PitPwnyas bad as those spider injectors can be, they can also run for a long time. I think if they’re used every day they will last longer. In my experience anyway.
cant believe you took battery out with it running.very brave..i work at an auto electrical shop and just beware that at the time of you removing cables with it running it will spike the alternator and usually kill the computor. so just be carefull!
Thanks for the video. My blazer 4wd would only work on occasion, and it was very slow shifting between 2 and 4. I took the actuator out and it was full of transmission fluid. Turns out a shaft seal was leaking ATF from the trans to the transfer case, overfilling the transfer case. The vacuum would than suck up the ATF into the actuator. Quick fix was to change fluid on transfer case, permanent fix was to pull the transfer case, and replace the seals between the transmission and the transfer case.
When I investigated my vacuum acuator was stuck in. I then pulled the vacuum line and it popped back out. I have watched your video and understand that it is more then likely the vale on the TF case. My question to you is....can iIjust leave the line off the acuator until i replace the valve.??? And if so should I plug the vacuumline temporaily???
Hi Mark. Thanks for this video. My Jimmy's transfert case is stuck in the 4WD position. Before I try this diagnose process on my vehicule, do you think it could be the same problem that the one you're talking about in the video?
Hey Mark, So i finally got around to fixing the 4x4 it was the valve, it was stuck. Now my 4x4 wont stop blowing fuses... every time i drive around for 5-10mins the lights go out on the 4x4 and the fuse is blown... everything engages fine at first and the actuator is working good! Any thoughts on whats going on ?
1998 Blazer Mark, the transfer case clunks when I go from 4h to 4l. It clacks about 3 times when I try to go to 2h, but does not change. Does the transfer case have to full of oil? I have vacuum at the actuator, it tries to pull but the cable is stuck in the diff. I got it to go into 2h 1 time, but when I changed back to 4wd it wouldn't change into 2wd. Possibly encoder motor weak? Works good going from 4wdh to 4wdl. Thanks for all your help so far.
Yeah ran the code got maf sensor and mutiple misfire I usually always get the multiple misfire its been on since I owned the truck so I never worried about that I put a remaned maf sensor still does so I guess I gotta pull the plugs and check them let me know if you come up with any ideas cuz im running out
great video. I pulled on the cable when the car was in drive and up on blocks. The 4wd switch was pushed in 4wd HI. The front wheels did not spin and the lights inside flash. I would like to see the 4wd work before I fix any vacuum leak or replace the cable. Also can not find the switch on the transfer case even after watching your video on it. I would think pulling the cable should get it in 4wd. Would having it in neutral make a difference ?
i have a 2003 blazer. i used the 4x4 and now it will not come out. i watched your video and checked the actuator that is working. i also replaced the transfer case switch. the only way to get it to release is to disconect a vaccum hose from the t fitting on the driver side right under hood. i was wondering if you have any other ideas for me on how to get this issue fixed thanks. tyler
mark great video i have a 2004 chevy s10 4x4 crewcab as soon as i start the truck the accuater will suck in an the truck is in 2wd. the truck makes a noise when driving sometimes in 2wd an when i push 4wd button it stops
I have a vacuum line that I didn't know where it goes was hanging under my blazer and just found out my 4 whl drive isn't engaging and I think that vacuum hose is the problem but I have no clue as to where exactly it goes or coming from. Do you have a video to show that?
I'm just hoping it isn't a transfer case issue, because I've gotten it to make some nasty grinding sounds when messing around with it to try and get it into 2hi. The lever on the transfer case is now in the 2hi position, but it is stuck in 4hi. I figure even if the hubs were still locked, the transfer case wouldn't be engaging the front driveshaft, so it would be in 2hi. Alternatively, can you recommend a high explosive for destroying this truck? TIA
Great video, but it 's not helping me with my problem. I have a 99 Jimmy that won't go into 4 Hi. 4 low works and when going into 4 hi from 4 low, it defaults to 2 hi. If my 4 low is working, doesn't that mean that the front actuator, cable and differential is working fine? Could I have just a bad vacuum switch at the TC or is the encoder motor acting up? module bad. This was working at the beginning of winter, but the second time we went to use it, it wouldn't work. Any help would be appreciate
To get the truck back into 2wd what do you think needs fixed the actuator I can hear making a noise like its trying to but just dosent have enough power maybe
I want to say thank you for your help i found a cracked vacuum hose. And always cleaned up the switch before i traded it back in and i use my knowledge on motor vacuum as help tracing lines to what they do and where they go. I did find a vacuum hose behind abs control box going no where. Have to look into that. I will get a video of jimmy not to many people believe i only paid $600 for it.
Great video, I used this video to check my cable but mine is not engaging. I going to check the vacuum hoses, do you have a diagram of all the vacuum hoses or can you tell me where they are? Thx
goodmorning MJark. yes i hear the clicking sounds like from the glove box or some where on pass side . lights all flash but wont ingage into 2hi. discounted batt for 30 now and trying that.
hey mark , just bought a 1997 blazer all the vacuum lines are disconnected and the actuator not hooked up and the a/c controls not working where does the main vacuum line start so i can get some vacuum , thanks pat
So my truck was stuck in 4wd back in November and I ended up snapping the cable that runs from the lever to the transfer case. I figured all of the difficulty/resistance was due to the fact that the cable was old and shitty, since it eventually broke. Put a new cable in, and it seemed to work fine, but there was a light grinding sound like it was trying to engage in 4wd but couldn't. It WOULD engage once or twice, but now it's stuck in 4wd. Actuator looked fine last time I checked. What next?
ok. did what you said. found that the front chunk isnot engaging. however the t-case is doing what it supose to do. also found out that the actuator under the battery is doing the opposite of whats its suposed to do. its pulling in when in 2wd and going out when in 4wd. Vaccum line backwards?!?
Hey Mark I press the auto four wheel drive button, starts to flash and don't hear no audible and or physical engagement and it goes into lighting up the two hi button. I press the four low, flashes a couple of times and audible and physical engagement is heard and felt, same with four hi. when taking off from these modes to two hi, and i start to drive off, trans shifts normaly but vehicle feels like it's in four wheel drive. Just recently started with this problem. Once weather starts to get a little warmer, i'll check out the procedures you mentioned in your video. Any help would be greatly appreciated. God Bless and thanx.
i have a 2000 s10 4.3 4wd. the actuator pulls in as soon as i start the truck. plenty of vaccum but its all the time. it stayed half engaged and now the front end is making noise. i took the cable off the actuator and the cable is fine. any advice would be great. thank you for your time...
I replaced vacuum switch (on the transfer case) as well as the actuator which was destroyed when transmission fluid leaked through the vacuum line. The new switch did not prevent the TF from leaking and it destroyed a 3rd and fourth actuator until I solved the problem by installing a check valve that allows vacuum but not fluid from the transmission. In order to revert to 2wd, I have to manually release the vacuum. I do this by having a dual ported check valve. I have a vacuum line extending out with a plug in it. I remove the plug for a second to release the vacuum after pushing the 2wd button.
I was using my 94 Chevy 1500 in 4wd during a snow storm and it worked fine for a while. After leaving it sit in park and idling for 15 min. I tried to drive away but the truck would not move. There was power coming from the engine as the truck seemed to surge when I pressed the gas but it would not move. I put it in 2wd and gave it gas. After a few seconds there was a loud pop and the truck was moving in 2wd. I don't want to put it back in 4wd as it may jam. Any suggestions as to the problem?
Good evening... 2000 Blazer. 3 button 4wd. 2wd Clicking noise from right front that increases and decreases with truck speed. Noise initially started during an hour long drive in 2wd. No noise in reverse. Noise goes away in 4wd. Appears to be locking fine into 4wd. Sounds like a very light partial engagement gear clashing noise. I'm thinking that the Vac actuator is not fully releasing - maybe due to a sticky cable? Or maybe it is at the other end of the cable at the axle? Thoughts?
Great video got a question thou my 88 s10 will not go into 4Lo the shifter has a button on it but will not move freely and it doesn't want to stay in 4hi I going to look at the this part from the video but if that work what should I do next I Have already been under it and seen the linkage move but I really don't where to look next so advice would greatly be appreciated
Hey i had a question I have a 2000 GMC Sonoma ZR2 and its only when i engage 4hi and every 10-15 seconds there's a loud clunk that seems like its coming from the transfer case but some time it feels like its from the back of the truck, I was wondering if you had any ideas on this.. thanks
I'm glad you made this video my jimmy was making this weird noise I have never heard before in 30 years of screwing around with cars cable was fucked thank man
Okay so is the jimmy 4wd supposed to be good? I have one but every time I use it the back wheels will still spin. I can't really tell if I'm getting any pull from the front but it does engage. Should it be doing that?
Great video. My problem is electronic as I have no lights on my dash control unit. I have checked the fuses and they are fine. I have heard that there is a problem with some of the switches. I have fire going to the center wire on the 3 wire plug to the switch so I can assume everything is good to that point. The other (8 wire) plug has no power coming to it with the switch removed from the dash. Any suggestions before I buy a new switch? My cruise control is also not working and the fuse is also good on it. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Hi, I have a 1999 Blazer 4 wheel drive. I am getting ready to replace the 3-2 shifting sensor and the trans wiring harness, could you tell me what steps I need to take in order to do this. Am I going to have to drop the trans?
Good video. One suggestion for a possible follow-on would be to show where that part goes on the transfer case for those unaware. of course they can just follow the hose back there too. Btw, fun to see the shared interests (I'm rebuilding a 91 s10, have built guitar amps in the past and making my living in software).
+Mark Jenkins Ah, I see the (i) up in the top corner on my laptop, but not on my android phone which is where I watched it originally. No matter. The video was great regardless. All of yours I've seen so far are top notch. Subscribed and enjoying. Oh, and thanks for the link in your reply. Blessings.
+Mark Jenkins Btw, I'm changing out the CV Axle in the 91 s10 (4.3L 4wd) that I picked up used. I have the 6 inner bolts out and am trying to get it unstuck... Any suggestions? I think they are supposed to just pull out but this one sure isn't. :) UPDATE: never mind. I got it. Just had to be a bit crankier than it. ;)
could be your first problem, check the hose... after I replaced the hose my 4x4 still would not lock so next I moved to the actuator, I put the blazer in neutral, switched from 2hi to 4hi as I had my friend squeeze the actuators suction cup looking thing and the 4x4 went right into gear without problem... found out my actuator was sticking and not moving freely so that was my second problem. After replacing the actuator ($50 at oreillys) and fixing the hose, my blazers 4x4 doesnt miss a beat
My 96 blazer is having issues with the 4x4 I changed out for a new vac like in the video and I bought a new sensor switch that goes on the front then I traced all my vac lines from up by the passenger side up over the transmission and found over on the drivers side back door area this switch that has a place for three hoses. All the lines are good no cuts took the truck out for a test run 4hi works 4lo works but once in 4 hi I'd have to press 4hi 4 Lo in neutral back and forth then hit 2wd.
i'm gonna tear into the actuator & cable today, i'm pretty sure the cable is seized, and going to need to be replaced. i haven't started on it yet, still too dark out, just mentally prepping... any suggestions on detaching the cable from underneath? am i'm i gonna run into problems, or snags? are there any tricks?
Mark I first want to say thanks for the videos and a question... i have a 93 s10 will not disengage 4wd. im replacing the vacuum switch ..is it critical that each of the 3 lines go back to same location on the switch?
mark love video.lot of info.....just a quick question for you.mine tries to well what seams to be trying to engage.this is what happens. the front tires try to lock up and drag real bad and lock up then go back to draging real bad.then when i disengage it,it makes a loud thump on the underside. like the axel or something just smacked the bottom of the car.after that it goes right back in to two high no prblems. i have tryed to do this a couple times in a row thinking maybe something was froze up and would brake free but no luck.if you have any thoughts on this i would love to hear them.thanks again
Mark I have a 2001 blazer n it seems to go in and out of 4 wheel to 2 wheel fine ..my problem is it makes a loud noise in passenger front end only when moving forward...it sounds like riding on rumble strips at high speed ...when I begin to slow the noise gets louder which I am sure is caused by braking...when I start out and the weight is more on rear of vehicle the noise quits but as soon as weight is distributed evenly again the noise returns...could it be the actuator ? and add the fact the blazer sat still for over a year
Your video has helped me a lot but I still have the 4 wheel blinking light issue and no 4 wheel drive. Now when I squeeze the rubber diaphragm I can hear air coming out near the vacuum actuator solenoid. Is this normal or is it a leak and it needs to be replaced? Thanks, Chad
My '98 is actually stuck in 4hi. I have unplugged the vacuum to engage the front end to free it up but the module is still stuck inward in the 4hi position. I am assuming my cable is jammed.
I have an 03 s10 zr2 and when i go into 4hi or lo and start driving it is a really loud clunk coming from the front passenger side of my truck. i've been told it could be a vacuum leak, but i've also heard its my transfer case. have any opinions about it?
Great video! I have a 1999 s10 Blazer 4x4 and I put it in 4x4 auto and it made a clunk and now there is a grinding noise right passenger side (no light on button). I don't think it fully engaged to 4x4 auto. When I put it back in 2hi and the grinding noise is still there. The light was on the 2 hi button and now it isn't. Can you give me any pointers as to what it might be?
Hello Mark, hopefully can help me. I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer 4 button system. All the lights on the button were off so I replaced the button switch itself, to no avail. The TCC module in the right kick panel had a lot of crust and corrosion. So I replaced it. Now the lights on the 2w HI light is lit, and my service four-wheel-drive light is off. I checked the diaphragm underneath the battery By applying manual vacuum. The diaphragm will hold the cable back so the cable moves freely. When I push either 4w Hi ol low the light will blink, the cable will draw for five seconds or so, then it will default back to 2 Wheel Dr. If I do this for more than two or three times all the lights on the dash go out and service four-wheel-drive light will come on, until I turn the ignition off and on again. This for the drive was working normally last fear. I don't know if I need to change the motor on the transfer case or the solenoid on the Dashboard.
I wonder if this is the basic idea across most 4x4 systems. I have a 2001 Toyota Sequoia and the 4x4 is not engaging. I do hear something clicking after pressing on the 4x4 button, so I suppose the fuse/electical is working?
Mark, Is it possible to put too much oil in my 2000 Blazer 4WD? I did will it come out of a overflow or will I have to drain the oil out and start over? Will it hurt the engine?
u never mentioned at any time what the symptoms were that caused the 4x4 problems, On my 2001 blazer I have a blinking light when I engage the 4x4 hi or lo or all wheel dr. would this be the same issue related or should I be looking elsewhere?
Thanks for the video howerver... ?My actuator pulls in everytime I crank the vehicle Four wheel drive hasnt worked in years. I can say that a few years ago i would be going down the highway and a loud grinding noise would start i would come to a stop and then take off and it wouldnt do it again for a while. This went on for 3-4 months. 4 wheel drive wasnt working then either.. Is is possible my front chunck is shredded? My vaccum is good enough to blow air out of the vent that is selected HELP
had problems with my 4x4 before. this time the button switch on my dash is not lit up anymore, cant even engage my 4x4 to see what the issues is. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
My 2000 chevy blazers 4x4 electronic transfer case, both the 4hi and 4low lights stay on, any thoughts? the actuator is fine and the switch seems to be good and theres no vacuum leaks, so would be the electronic transfer case module?
I have a 96 jimmy, that has had me baffled for a long time in that at or > 55mph it randomly feels like it's hitting the rumble strip & the truck slow momentaryly, then goes back to norm for 5-20 mins then does it again, I finally figure out that it doesnt do it if I pull the fuse for the 4X4. I'm assuming that it's randomly trying to go into 4x4 without me turning on the 4x4. when I do turn it on it sticks in 4x4 even if I turn off the truck.if I let it sit for a while then it will let go.
Hello Mark. I have a '95 Jimmy and from a year ago to stop working today 4X4, since pressing the button 4HI or 4lo not heard of anything in the transfer, the lights and the module paraprean few clicks are heard but back to 2hi before replacement on the trasfer case motor and would like your suggestion if I could you tell where I find a diagram for vacuum hoses and connect them as the trasfer case vacuum switch
Hey,I am having a hard time finding that valve on the transfer case.. Is it kinda hidden or can i get some direction to it or a video showing where it is. Thanks for the grate video!
Replacement S10 \ Blazer 4WD front differential actuator: amzn.to/2Ems7Db
Replacement transfer case vacuum switch can be found here: amzn.to/2EgB7x4
I replaced those parts but still have hopping in the front
Good presentation. I have resolved all this. My prob is the neutral switch not allowing cranking. Thanks. Dandahermit
thanks alot for this video, the dealer wanted $400+ to fix it and your 7 min video and a half inch socket fixed it, I also disconnected the computer for a few min but either way the thing under the battery needed switched so thanks again bud it was very much appreciated
On my 2002 blazer, I was able to remove the drivers headlight and look through a hole beneath the battery tray to see if the vac module was functioning with engine running and battery in. Headlight removes with no tools, just two L brackets to pull up.
Great explanation, what other issue do I need to look at to engage the 4W LOW?
awesome! few hours ago was on my way to go bowling while there is about 6 inches of fresh snow in the road, make it outta the driveway in 2wd go to pop it in 4wd think its engaged.. no no. end up gettin stuck. gotta go diagnose this tomorrow morning and this video helped a ton because i had no idea how it worked or what could go wrong Thanks!
Only problem was da 4×4 was not engaging saw you video man this truck its in BITCHING PERFECT conditions thank you saw much... best deal of my life
Hey brother. Just wanted to say thank you. After watching your video and repeating your process on my truck it now works flawlessly
Thank you!
Would that $15 valve cause your four wheel drive to parsley engage because that's what mine's doing partially engaging when I'm driving
Did you ever figure this out?
Thank you so much for your video on the blazer and gmc 4 wheel drive trouble shooting, I have a 98 Jimmy and the vacuum hose got next to the exhaust manifold and burned in half. Sorry to ramble but god bless you are the man. If you don't already you should have your own shop.peace and have an awesome day.
How in the hell did this design ever get approved for production? Is this supposed to be better than the 4x4 lever of the old days? So sad!
I miss the in and out Warren locking hubs, they never failed me.
It the same people that designed the Spider injection assembly. I’m really left scratching my head on these trucks, a lot.
@@PitPwnyas bad as those spider injectors can be, they can also run for a long time. I think if they’re used every day they will last longer. In my experience anyway.
One of the best diagnostic videos I've seen. And, unfortunately, I've had to watch a lot of them. Subscribed, and keep up the good work.
cant believe you took battery out with it running.very brave..i work at an auto electrical shop and just beware that at the time of you removing cables with it running it will spike the alternator and usually kill the computor. so just be carefull!
Thanks for the video! will check it out tommrow! Mine is stuck in 4wd! chould it be the same problem?
When I investigated my vacuum acuator was stuck in. I then pulled the vacuum line and it popped back out. I have watched your video and understand that it is more then likely the vale on the TF case. My question to you is....can iIjust leave the line off the acuator until i replace the valve.??? And if so should I plug the vacuumline temporaily???
The video help me today. Found my vacuum leak at the TEE about a foot in front of the actuator.
As I was saying. Battery acid is always good for any important automotive function. They need to design the braking system under a battery next.
Hey Mark
I press the auto four wheel drive button, starts to flash and don't hear no audible and or physical engagement and it goes into lighting up the two hi button.
You did a good job on this video mark! Just wanted to let you know
i have a 2000 s10 4.3 4wd. the actuator pulls in as soon as i start the truck. plenty of vaccum but its all the time. it stayed half engaged and now the front end is making noise. i took the cable off the actuator and the cable is fine. any advice would be great. thank you for your time...
You talked about an after market 4x4 transfer case cable kit where can I find one of these?
Hey i had a question I have a 2000 GMC Sonoma ZR2 and its only when i engage 4hi and every 10-15 seconds there's a loud clunk that seems like its coming from the transfer case but some time it feels like its from the back of the truck, I was wondering if you had any ideas on this.. thanks
Hi mark i have a blazer and 4wd engages the transfer case works the front drive shaft spins but the front wheels dont spin
Should it be doing that?
a BIG thanks for this video....gonna try this stuff first before a transfer case replacement!!!!! I had no idea were to start
I wish i would've found this video before my dad decided to take my jimmy and take it to the shop and have the transfer case replaced...
I have a 2000 chevy blazer and my 4x4 will blink when I try and switch it? What do you think might be the problem? Thanks!
I bought a Sonoma 4x4 the front axles are not there. So you think it probably locked up on them? Where would you start to figure it out
All the lines are good no cuts took the truck out for a test run 4hi works 4lo works but once in 4 hi I'd have to press 4hi 4 Lo in neutral back and forth then hit 2wd.
i'm gonna tear into the actuator & cable today, i'm pretty sure the cable is seized, and going to need to be replaced.
i haven't started on it yet, still too dark out, just mentally prepping... any suggestions on detaching the cable from underneath? am i'm i gonna run into problems, or snags? are there any tricks?
love ur video... i got vacume at all times but my 4x4 still dose not engage... could it be the 4x4 engage motor on the transfer case????
what year trucks are setup with this setup?I have a 2004 gmc 1500...pretty sure this is different than my 4w drive. ...thanks
Is that the same valve you described in the video?
Thanks, found the problem with my 96 Jimmy. The transfer case vacuum actuator was bad...
Thanks for video,,What is the name of after market cable lever kit?
I wonder if this is the basic idea across most 4x4 systems. I have a 2001 Toyota Sequoia and the 4x4 is not engaging. I do hear something clicking after pressing on the 4x4 button, so I suppose the fuse/electical is working?
Make sure the gold coiled clip is secure in the groove of the pin at the actuator.
Hi, mark I have a chevy trailblazer 2003,, is it the same steps for this also???
Be waiting for your answer, thank you.
Hi mark,
About two months ago my '99 blazer got stuck in 4Lo and is now only 2WD. If I were to change the actuator would it help
My 2000 chevy blazers 4x4 electronic transfer case, both the 4hi and 4low lights stay on, any thoughts? the actuator is fine and the switch seems to be good and theres no vacuum leaks, so would be the electronic transfer case module?
hey mark jenkins.. i have replaced the vacuum switch on the t case but still am not getting vac to the diaphragm. Any ideas.??
Hey whats the after market kit u mentioned at the. End of the video that makes it to manually engage... I have no vacuum what so ever
