In corporate accounting, just like personal and home accounting, expenses is reduced to either continue to be profitable or mitigate losing profits.
What is an expense to a corporate accounting is an asset to employees (payroll).
When your home are struggling with money coming in, you reduce paying for items you do not really need.
Corporate accounting has "payroll" on the "expense" ledger. Corporation's biggest expense is it's people (payroll) while it's biggest asset is machines, AI, and other automated tools that depreciate and requires investing (because it's an asset) Machines don't get sick nor have family problems.
Solution: move payroll into the asset ledger.
On a side note:
Corporations buys machines at a high price (investment) but depreciate overtime making paying taxes less.
Corporations hire people and pays entry level and gets paid more the longer they stay making a person a greater tax impact.
We must change the economy to directly benefit humanity than corporate profits where the investment of the biggest entity in the US (the government) goes directly to people and not coronations. Trickle down economics is inhumane. Trickle up economics is Humanity First 🥇 Humanity Forward and Humanity Always!!!

In capitalism, labor will always be a cost, I think this sums up your paragraph. Having a UBI does not negate that fact. A UBI would be used for consumption for lower working class while it would be used for investment by the upper middle class and wealthier people, as time goes by income inequality would expand and worsen. This is not a good outcome which is why I favor a Federal jobs guarantee along with a BASIC income instead of a universal basic income. We have social security which can be expanded and improved.
If you want to actually get leverage back over our labor, you provide a Federally guaranteed jobs program that eliminates unemployment and provides an option for public sector work, that pays a living wage, vacation days, sick days, a pension, doing work caring for your own community, seniors, and the environment.

You are actually advocating for AOC and Bernie Sanders to work together with Linsey Graham and Mitch McConnell. You are also missing the point of unifying masses of people against the affluent few. Resources directly into people's hands enables them to do more outside of "means tested" government jobs, bureaucracy, and social Safety nets.
I am sure you looked at Americorps and it's success rate. I am sure you looked at USAJOBS how someone off that streets cannot just get those jobs.
I am saying FJG cannot be a solution. I am even saying that UBI will pave the way for Jobs Guarantee and cover the ones that the government fails to address.
As much as you want the government to be successful at giving people jobs is probably as good as the government just giving people money to help people the way they need to be helped.
A UBI funding structure will help divert the profits of our trillions of GDP economy to directly impact people to help grassroots campaigns to ensure the government is not bought and paid for...
