    Hahaha, “is this Cartmell? Oh god I don’t know”; brilliant man.
    Sticky toffee pudding; oh, my absolute favourite; I have mine with pouring cream, what about you?
    Your videos are superb my friend, really slick. You certainly have the gift of the gab, always a pleasure to listen too.
    I haven’t got past the riding only video, perhaps with the odd comment. So, well done Ian;,you should have loads more subs, folk are missing out on a treat.
    Stay well and ride safe my friend.
    Neil

      Nice of you to say. Without being big headed, I look at some other vloggers , with way more subs, and wonder, HOW ? Anyway, not a problem, happy to get new subs as and when. As for talking, I sometimes struggle with what to say, though in part two, you can’t shut me up 😂. To be honest, I’m not a massive pudding fan, but do like STP, preferably with vanilla ice cream, but custard goes down well too. Like you, Ann prefers pouring cream. Cheers Neil

    I had to fright back a little tear watching this cartmel was a place me and mum went to watch the horses racing. My stepdad had a horse racing there. And it was my first ever horse racing experience. And loved it ever since. Clementine sounds good… better she did earlier. Anyway. Good video Ian

    Hi Ian, another cracking video, I also had a k4 as my first road bike back in 1977 when you could ride a 250 on L’s great little bike, yes heated grips are now my first mod to a bike 😂 and a cunning plan for the swap to a Transit and a wobbly box, I went for the tourneo as it’s capable of towing my twin axle Bessacar and my bro has a custom to tow his twin axle Bailey both swb low roof and it’s no problem getting a bike in with a decent ramp. All the best 👍

      Thanks so much for this. Good to know we are on the right track with our thoughts. So instead of being motorhomers, we will be tuggers 😂. The Tourneo’s are still quite pricy, really depends what we can get for Peanut. He is a 2008 Autocruise Tempo with 55k miles. Anyway, if push comes to shove, we will get a Transit Custom van, and have it modded with side windows, Tourneo seats and carpeted throughout. Thanks again.

      @ianhughesroyalenfield  2 года назад

      Hi Mike, do you have the earlier version or later ? I have noticed that the earlier Tourneo’s have a different rear seat than the later ones. The arrangement being a twin and a single. Do these fold down and forward, and would a bike fit in without either of the seats being removed ? The newer ones are fitted with 3 individual seats, which do fold down and forward, so if necessary, I would just remove the middle one. Thanks

    • @mikehatswell3961
      @mikehatswell3961 2 года назад

      @@ianhughesroyalenfield hi Ian, I have a new 8 seater, it’s got two in the front,three individual seats in the middle and the rear is a double and a single all of which can be folded down and forward and easily removed though the double is quite heavy. If you were only going to use the middle row of three individuals and leave the rear clear you would be able to just remove the middle one to get one of your bikes in, I don’t think you would be able to get anything wider like a beemer in but the Enfields are quite narrow. The middle row can also be turned to face the rear, putting them directly behind the front seats giving you more room in the back for the bike and if you did that with just the outer two and the middle removed its a quick and easy job to swap them back once you take the bike out. If you do go down this route get yourself one of the folding aluminium ramps they aren’t cheap but are designed for the job and make life a lot easier and safer. I hope that this is of some help, on a different note do you use the SJCAM mike or a different one? All the best Ian and thanks for all the videos 👍

      @@mikehatswell3961 thank you so much for this. Much appreciated. As for the mic, I use a Hama VOIP laptop mic off Amazon, about £7 I think. They have awful reviews on there, but it is for that reason they are so good for us, cutting out a lot of the frequencies that wind noise produces. It is also on an arm which bends easily and holds it’s shape. I tuck mine just in front of the helmet cheek pad. Easiest method I have found to get half decent audio. If you are going down the SJcam route, you will need a 3mm adapter, available off eBay from Lithuania. Hope this helps.

      @@ianhughesroyalenfield As age and service related injuries haunt me, I am giving serious consideration to downsizing to the RE 350 of some iteration for the Bonny. Distance touring is less and less a reality for me. If you can I would value your review of the Meteor 350. I'm sure the states will get the Hunter.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  2 года назад +1

      @@brunothepug8807 unfortunately, I haven’t ridden the 350 Meteor. That laid back cruiser style with forward controls just isn’t for me. Though I am pretty sure the engine characteristics are very similar to the Classic 350. In a nutshell though, it is the lack of forward motion which you would notice the most, on any of the RE350’s. The Hunter looks to be the most “nippy” if the reviews are anything to go by (have you seen Stuart Fillinghams review ?). If you are ok with just bimbling around without any urgency, then there is nothing better. In the past, I have done the bigger is best thing, but now happier slowing down, seeing more of what surrounds us. Cleaning the 350 Classic is a joy too, with the only exception being the front part of the swing arm, a real pain to get to, and I have small hands. Fuel economy seems very good, with some owners getting around the 90-100 mpg, though I doubt I would get that, as I do like to get a wriggle on occasionally. The best thing to do, is to take one for a test ride, though admittedly I didn’t, as my nearest dealer is about 45 motorway miles away. If I had taken one for a test ride, I probably wouldn’t have bought one, as even jumping off an interceptor 650, the 350 was slow. But, it didn’t take long to see the appeal, and now I just love the little 350, though not quite as much as the 650. They do different jobs, with the 650 being more capable of being a A/B road scratcher when you want to play, but it would still do gnarly back lanes. The Classic 350 is happiest at about 55-60, and isn’t in any hurry to get there, but that’s it’s strong point. You get to really take in your surroundings, they aren’t a blur. It will pull up the steepest of hills, eventually, just don’t try and hurry it. I hope this helps.

    Sounds a good idea Ian think you need a long wheel base and high van plenty of head room plus you wouldn’t need to remove the rear seats 👍

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  2 года назад +1

      Nah, we will want to use it as an every day vehicle. Peanut is a LWB High Top, a pain in the arse come shopping day. The Low Roof SWB Transit Custom, has more than enough space for either bikes. If it hasn’t already got them, we will fit Tourneo rear seats, as they are independent of each other. Can be folded forward, or removed. Thinking, removing the middle one, and putting a removable bike grab for the bike’s front wheel, then strap down. Thanks for the thought though. 👍

    Ohh I well remember the Honda 250 K4 I had one it was my first proper bike on the road after my Honda 50 step through /what's now called I think the cub .Also those god awful muff things bloody useless 😁blast from the past eh .Great sound actually you wouldn't know it was blowing so hard , perhaps some of that more permanent Loctite "not sure which colour it is '' nice little run there Ian very enjoyable as usual thanks for sharing 👌👍

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  2 года назад +1

      Yes,the K4 was my first big bike too, after my Suzuki AP50. The K4 did me well, it took some hammer, blasting to/from college and general abuse from rides with my mates, but the camshaft bearing seized. My friend did a roller bearing conversion which worked really well. Sold it for more than I paid, when I moved up to the first of my Honda 400/4’s. In the snippet, the exhaust didn’t sound as loud, but honestly, it was really loud under acceleration 😂. I did think about loctite, but I may need to nip it up even more, so now I know it is a weak spot, I can just nip up every now and then. My paranoia, was down to the sound resonating off the stone buildings, it was perfectly fine when I checked there, and when I got home. Cheers

    Reference the heated grips I had Daytona heated grips fitted by the dealer when I picked the bike up in April. Look like they were factory fitted as unlike Oxford grips with the bid square heat controller, the Daytona has a little button on the grip with a tiny light to tell you what heat is set. About 4 settings and very warm, I have had Oxford grips as well and prefer the Daytona’s

    Nice one Ian, Cartmel is a cracking place, regarding the Transit you would need the long wheelbase if it's the double cab you're after and to get a bike in the back, the standard tranny with a double cab hasn't much room in the back.....

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  2 года назад +2

      Looked at different options. Hoping for a swb low roof van. Then fit Tourneo rear seats, which can be tilted forwards, and removed. Remove the middle one, and fit a removable bike grab front wheel chock. More than enough room for either bikes. Or buy a double cab, remove rear bulkhead, and swap the seats for the Tourneo ones. LWB vehicles are a right pain for every day use. I have always been a bit of a van fan, had a few over the years. Prefer them to cars. Cheers
