I love how you discuss top tier artists putting out bad music. To me, the artists I love the most do have some bombs that in the bigger picture don't take away from their genius because their good stuff is that good. Nobody is perfect and musicians are not an exception
Dig into Big Star, Thirteen has been covered a ton so if you hadn't heard the of it could have been another cover. The Replacement's tune Alex Chiton is about the Big Star frontman.
In the end it always does - Japanese House Crying, laughing, waving, smiling - Slaughter Beach, Dog Lifetime - Faye Webster I was born for loving you - Big Thief Javelin singles - Sufjan Stevens How deep is your love - Bee Gees It wasnt supposed to be like this - Jansen Mcraes The land is inhospitable and so are we - Mitski
Liked this format and tour of the hood (I think you were right behind my house). Will check out some of the artists mentioned. Was impressed that you weren't out of breath while walking and talking - And the interview with Bike Trail Cat added an interesting perspective!
love this style of video from you. always cool to get some recommendations in this format. also, Elliott Smith’s cover of Thirteen by Big Star is great if u haven’t checked out that version !!!
I really enjoyed this video, it could be a good format for when you don't have time or energy to put up a video like usual but the algorithm is still claiming to be fed. 🙌
i went to go listen to the japanese house album and as i was listening to it i thought "this is complementary to MUNA a little bit" and then the next song i heard a familiar voice and saw they were the feature haha
I recommend Townes Van Zandt's, Live at the Old Quarter, album. It is a very stripped down performance that showcases his personality and contains many of his best songs. While your at it, you should check out Townes's friend, Guy Clark as well. His live album, Keepers, is the best place to start with him. These two are the greatest Texas songwriters, but came at the craft quite differently. Whereas, Townes would wake in the middle of the night, scratch down some lyrics and then fall back asleep, Guy would plot his poetry out on graph paper and sand it down till everything rang right and true.
i've been meaning to hear your thoughts on the new slaughter beach dog!! i definitely agree that the singles stood out more than the rest of the album. I kind of went into it wanting to overanalyze everything and kept an eye out for references and symbols (Annie was not mentioned in this album sadly lol) but i think the sound of it encapsulates that feeling the title gives, of saying goodbye to something that you're gonna miss but excited to move on from it. i'd love to hear your thoughts about the symbolism of the van that gets mentioned in a couple tracks on the album cause it's obviously at the center of the feeling the album title gives off.
I am an avid viewer of your videos, and I like most of your takes (mainly because they align with my own takes and taste? haha) Since in the end, you asked if, as a viewer, I/we would like this type of video or not - I would say putting something like every two weeks of a month or at least the end of the month (like you did just now) would be really unique and refreshing from your general trend, trajectory and vibe of videos you upload. And I love the Bike Trail Cat. That can be a great band name.
Masterpiece by Big Thief is my favorite record, maybe of all time. But every other Adriane's following work I cannot stand. There was something that happened with her voice, and she no longer sounds the same as she did on Masterpiece. I have no idea wheter it's a medical thing, or a stylistic choice, but it's a downgrade. It's a shame too, because their songs are great, but are completly ruined by Adriane's deadpan slurry singing.
@@Autumnnnnn1I've heard some of them, but I find the same problem there. Her 2014 record is really great, but after 2016 her singing voice/style changed drastically.

Agree. There is no innovation without fails.

I dunno if this makes sense to anyone else, but I prefer your casual conversational commentary over your usual clean recording on your normal videos

Big Star’s Thirteen was covered by Elliott Smith. Maybe that’s how you heard it

Have you heard her solo album "songs"?. Her voice is absolutely gorgeous on that

@@assboi damn that's a shame. I love her new style but people can like/dislike what they want
