Thanks for the descriptive note on this tune! With the first big snow of the winter falling, I had just grabbed a copy of a young friend playing the tune on the banjo as "Snow Shoes," and started trying to figure out where she learned it. That led me to both the John Ashby and Tommy Jackson recordings, as well as "Spotted Pony" versions. Even saw a mention of it as an Ashby tune in a fiddle tunes book by the late Stacy Phillips, who I used to know back in Connecticut in the 1970s! Now maybe I'll even try to learn the tune on my mandolin, thanks to you!
