Re-uploaded and re-edited to highlight the plastic waste as well to truly have a zero-waste bag and to demonstrate how it can be done. Thanks for watching!
The bag and the mushroom are really cool. I'd imagine that the mushroom could be used as a pillow on a bus/train ride when you are tired or just want to sleep and don't have a pillow with you.
I was thinking that but I didn’t want to sew over the outside pockets from sewing it to the inside. I did forget to add one little chapstick pocket bc I got carried away cutting scraps lol
We used to do this with the jeans we outgrew but were too worn to donate. Also lots of pencil cases and Barbie clothes. I don't have a cricut, but always thought it would be fun to save all the scraps and make some mosaic wall art.
You can just cut or shred up fabric scraps that aren't big enough to save to use as stuffing for other projects. I have a dog bed I made for my dogs that I usually shove it all in as its still sort of flat but I also make cat toys out of scraps for my cats. Im hoping to find somewhere I can donate toys to eventually so I can use more scraps that way.
Great project, I really like the mushroom theme. You always have surprising ideas... I was thinking that it would be great if you could make some videos in which you create clothes for people with L-XL sizes. I hope you will do something like this in the future. Thanks for all the inspiring videos!
Is stuffing the little bits of plastic into the mushroom better than just throwing them away? In my mind there is so much waste in the world that it's much more important to focus on reusing and recycling where you can, rather than making sure you "don't have waste" by hiding it in a plushie. I also get that you were responding to other people's criticism rather than planning to do this from the beginning! I love that you encourage people to upcycle and learn to sew and mend clothes - you've already had an amazing impact on a lot of people!! I feel like youre one of the original youtube sewists, back from before it was cool
There’s fault in both ways. I say do what you can, when you can and always be mindful of your waste and how you discard it. For me, since this was a zero-waste project it felt better to include the plastic as well instead of recycling it.

I thought I was seeing double!

Great idea 🍄
So excited to see a new upload! You could use some of the scraps to create extra pockets inside the bag.

Tiny scraps make great stuffing.
