The remote loses battery power. Changed batteries, works for awhile but then does not. Is something wrong with remote?

Tivo button -> Settings & Messages -> Settings -> Audio -> Sound Effects Volume -> Off

My TiVo will not power off. I’ve connected TiVo to my amplifier. When I switch the TiVo off my smart TV is turned off BUT I can still hear the sound of the program on my amplifier. Although powered off the green light on TiVo is still on. Can someone help

pressing the Tivo button on top of the remote first displays the my shows, notice the 3 little menu lines left of the my shows option by navigating left it gives you the menu, hit ok button opens to manage, left of the manage you'll see a power icon, nav left opens standby, press down arrow then ok . Takes about 15 seconds and the TiVo shuts off. It will still record any series you've got set to record.
