- Dumb Angel Medley- To me, You're Welcome has always been the perfect album closer, while Good Vibrations just seems almost out of place. It doesn't fit into any of the themes the album was going for (Americana/Agriculture, Childhood/Innocence, Elements, Psychedelia, Health, Humor) and just kinda sticks out. Good Vibrations was the egg from which the SMiLE project hatched, it was the only song from the era that came out exactly as intended and it serves as a great indicator to what the rest of the album would've been like if completed. However, it wasn't really a SMiLE song...more like a precursor to the rest of them, similar to how the "Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane" single was a precursor to Sgt. Pepper, but neither song was on the finished album. As for Bicycle Rider, between DYLW and H&V that "feel" was probably the most prevalent on all of SMiLE. It makes sense for it to be reprised one last time at the end. It ties the whole album together. Barnshine finally fades the whole album out. Admittedly, there's no real reason I stuck it in the end here except that I wanted to use it somewhere and everywhere else it just sounded out of place.
Can't believe someone else shares the same thoughts, always thought that "You're Welcome" is the perfect closer for Smile
Thank you for this experience, when the album was reviewed in the british press ther commended the two disc version most, because it was 'the golodlocks option'-not too short and not so long as you could get lost in it. What never struck me at the time was how a good remixer would see five or six discs of material, as fodder for their creative instincts, as something to 'play' with...,
Just love this, one word “ Brilliant!! Haven’t heard this version before ! ,
Very good medley, every track fits together rather superbly.
Hauntingly beautiful
Thank you very much in this Holiday season of 2013 for all the parts and the knowledge that it took YOU to make some sense of the "SMile Experience" - I enjoyed the montage...almost as much as seeing Heidi Montag....! :)
Thanks Rob. I'm glad you enjoyed.
WOW! I'm of the same opinion here. I've thought of "side 4" as beginnig with "You're Welcome" followed by "You're With Me Tonight" as well. My only difference with the ending of the album is that I'm thinking of placing "Gee (How I Love My Girl)" and the Cantina sequence of "Heroes and Villains" as the finale" and ending it with almost the same ending you have here. Great version you have posted.
I Like it!
Hello Mujanus I am guessing but one thang that seems sort of obvious is that Brian wanted the material out and all over the web, and he knew/knows that it will be disbursed and reused in ways he cannot control. Having it 'out there' he gets some royalties everyone else gets their fun. Also you are right about keeping 'Good Vibrations' for another project.How long is your version of 'Smile'? And have you thought of putting up the tracks here in the form of suites rather than individual tracks?
I see Good Vibrations representing the element Heart...
Is there going to be any full download link for your remix? Just downloading off youtube doesn't do the justice.
Maybe someday...
This whole remix is phenomenal! Do you have a place where I can download this so I can listen to it on the go?
I'm Mujanus. Got locked out of this old account. But to answer your question, no I don't have the files for this mix anymore. Tho if you look under this channel, I've since made 2 more I have downloads to.

@Milo Converso I never said THAT Fourth of July song is from SMiLE, it's a different song by Brian not Dennis
@Milo Converso And what's "Toy Fire Engine"?
@Milo Converso What song?
@Milo Converso Whats that?
@Milo Converso Lol
So you will be faced with the same editorial decisions that Brian couldn't resolve.... it still seems cool to me that if you could join some the pieces up and give yourself back up youtube users would gain from the listening experience, it would be a win-win bit of creativity.
