Really glad you incorporated both versions of Children Were Raised. It's truly my favorite part of the song. I don't get the criticism leveled at this. This is _your_ remix and you can make it however you like. There's a lot of creativity to how to put all (or some!) of the pieces together, and I think every individual remix is accurate to the original in some sense.
Pieter, they're coming...someday... Life, friends, college and jobs kinda distracted me from finishing four mixes all at once for the 45th anniversary like I planned. But, I finally found the time to get one out. I don't wanna rush the others tho. I want each mix to be as unique as possible, not just "oh, I switched the order of two songs!" or anything lame like that. When I get some inspiration, I'll make another.
Amazing remix! Defiantly going into my beach boys playlist! I’m a bit curious though, did you ever get around to doing the other 3 remixes? Would love to here them if they are available!
Well, kind of. I did some others over the years but not what I originally planned. You can find them on my channel: Aquarian SMiLE, Dumb Angel: Olorin Mix, Dumb Angel: Romestamo Cut, and Voynich SMiLE. The audio is reversed for copyright reasons but you can flip it with Audacity or any other free audio editing program. The links to download them directly should be in the applicable video descriptions too.
theSuperMetroid Something more definitely. As Al said, the end result of SMiLE was a pale shadow in comparison to what should have been. It could have totally changed music as we know today. Honestly, I wish I could just have a taste of what should have been so I could know what we missed out on. But I guess I will just live on knowing there could have been something more, but I'm gonna have to settle for what we do have.
@@theCarbonFreeze If I may be so bold...Art being subjective, it's open to our imaginations and personal experiences. That being said it's apparent to me that SMiLE is a translation of some of Kerouac's art. Margarita was made famous in Jack's book Maggie Cassidy. Others have used this book and Kerouac's 1st love to create. Dylan, Rod Stewart's Maggie Mae, Steely Dan's Peg and maybe most famously Lovely Rita. She's a meter maid. Like the military forcing the driver to 'hit the road'. An older experienced woman pushing an inexperienced young man away. (back to school) Brother John is the hero and Cowboy Neal Cassady (he worked for the Railroad) is the villain . Father is child to the man. Jack being the Father of all 'hippies'. Kerouac also spent time in a cabin with a set of wind chimes. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the creation of SMiLE was a retelling of 'On the Road" from the viewpoint of a bicycle rider flying over the road going cross country rather than actually on the road, while pulling tidbits from other works of the Beat Literary Movement...BTW nice effort on your part, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this more than a few times. Thank you...
smile is the ultimate open source project
The smile sessions are like a box of lego, it can be anything you want it to be

Just...wow. Brilliant interpretation. So modular---infinite possibilities. Just great music. God, to be inside Brian's head...
Thank you
Sound quality is amazing...really well put together, thank you for this.
Space patrolman, Prayer was originally an unlisted "intro to the album" and therefore, part of H/V. Listen to the sessions tapes for it.
It sounds great, good job, has a Wild West feel to it 😬 yee haw
Masterkrafted Mix Legit ...
Totally channeled some of whatever BW was on With the Intention of the Symphony as a Whole!
5:36 = priceless
This beat combo were rather good, chortle chortle 😊
Yeah, weren’t The Wrecking Crew fab?

Hal, Gee is included as part of H/V on numerous SMiLE mixes. I mean...they even sing the H&V chorus in Gee. So...yeah...
I like ya cut G!
Where’s barnyard and I’m in great shape? Both were composed as sections for heroes and villains
Nice cut boy! Where are the other three?

Did u ever finished it?

Geez; you can just tell by the feel of it all that this isn't at all what Brian originally imagined.
Adrian D what did Brian imagine?
