My cat Julia has gone blind in her old age. I adopted her from the shelter in 2012, and since she was found as a pregnant stray, they didn't know how old she was, but they assumed she was 3 at the time, so I'm guessing she's around 14 this year.
She often calls out to find me, since she can't see, and doesn't hear very well. She makes these strange sounds that sometime sound like she's calling out, "Hello?". I come over to her, and hold my hand out, so she can sniff it, and know I'm near. She immediately headbutts my hand, and leads me over to what she wants, or lets me give her attention.
Since she knows her way around the house, she can find her food easily, and can make her way down stairs, and to her litter box when she needs it. I'm very impressed with her determination, and I'm proud she's remained the sweet and loving cat I adopted on July 9th, 2012.

Animals adapt pretty quickly to things. You would be surprised how quickly an adult animal adapts to sudden disability too. Such as losing a leg or hearing/sight. Most animals just get over things quickly and live in the moment unlike people. We dwell on the past and what was lost animals dont.

I have a blind kitty, she saved me.. I never realized how much i needed her more than she needed me. If you are looking for something amazing to witness in your short selfish life.. adopt a blind cat, and watch them blow your mind. Mine was born without developed eyes. So she doesn’t know she’s missing out on anything. In her mind. We are all blind..
but it’s the cat things she does that all cats do, from moving the water bowl with paw, to walking or chasing others around at full speed and never touching a thing..
But the coolest part is trust, never take advantage by feeding them something or scaring them to get thrills.. she trust us so much that if she is about to jump off something to high, she will stop if we say wait.. or look at us to get the ok to jump. She won’t move a muscle. She will sit until we say it’s ok.
I wish I could bottle up the feeling and sell it, I’m a 43 year old pro category race car manufacturer and driver. And still have a rough side.. but I leave all that at the door. Because she needs her daddy.. oh and she loves kitty push pops.. mommy doesn’t give them to her because they stink..
and she always comes back when everyone has left to sneak another.. warms my heart

We tried treating it with medication but when that didn't work, we finally resorted to surgery. Since having it out he's become even brighter and more cheerful than he was before and he even seems to be able to see better without the bad eye causing issues. Plus he looks absolutely adorable.

It is so vital that they have each other. Makes both their lives better. Or shall I say the three of them. I hope they will never be separated.

Georgie and Hammy are absolutely inspiring, adorable, precious, fun-loving and very smart. I love them. I love how they play with their beautiful Mommy's long hair and chirp to find each other then jump when they do. I love how Hammy enjoys licking your doggie and helps the other foster babies. You are such a wonderful Mommy to them and I am so happy that they will be with you forever. They love you and you love them and they know your loving house. ❤😊

That's so sweet. What a blessing to be cared for together in a loving home 🩵🩵 blind cats are truly unique and very smart. My Mimi was like that, I cherished every moment I had with her until her passing.

I adopted a blind kitty that lost her eyes, one first. Then later the other due to infections. She was dumped when she became pregnant. Anyway, she ended in foster care and I found her online at the rescue. She was around 2 years. Helen (blind kitty) and my other cat, Jules, were best of friends. Jules would chase Helen through the house and then turn around and chase Jules. It was wild. My heart used to weep for Helen bc she was blind but you would never know. That cat has radar, remembers where everything is in the house, plays with both hearing toys and non-noise making toys. Tosses them around and can feel or hear where they land. In the future, I will only adopt “disabled” cats and/or seniors. Helen is a true blessing and so is this woman.

We had blind Russian Blue named Abby whom we found with both eyes ruptured alone and abandoned. We have no idea how she got to our shop besides the radio was on. She was about 4 weeks old and she lived up to six and a half years before heart failure suddenly took her. She had no signs of it. I miss our little Tsarina a lot still.
These two reminded me a lot of her. Her little chirps; her way of navigating; I miss those.
