The Big 8 actually broadcast out of Windsor Ontario, which was about an hr west of us. Back then the radio was ALWAYS on CKLW. It gave the best mix of music anyone could imagine. I so miss these good ol radio days..
The character after the traffic report sounds like a primitive version of Gary's newscaster character, Dan Buckles. The running joke of those comedy bits being that Dan read his scripts or the teleprompter so intently that when a word cut-off from one page to the next Dan would pause, flip through his papers, and resume talking. I'm only familiar with characters Gary played during his run at WLW radio so I don't even know if Gary's newscaster character on this CKLW broadcast was even named Dan Buckles at the time.
TnB...thank you for curating these lovely snippets of history, particularly from your unique perspective. I've enjoyed each one!
Dick, thank you for your kind words. Glad you are enjoying!
