Great Video Jayden, love the new intro! I flown on Qatar on their 787-8 and A350-900 must say the interior is considerably better on the 787 and A350 than the 777. Always good to see you upload mate. Keep it up 👍

Those airport numbers are crazy. I remember the times I flew in and out of there was full of people but never felt busy. I can't imagine now. And happy belated birthday young man.

Really happy to see another flight review! I was so happy when I saw on Insta that you have been flying again! Glad to see you still have plans to return to Adelaide! I have watched almost all of your videos as we are also based in Adelaide! In April this year, we will fly to Alice Springs from Adelaide on Virgin then return from Ayers Rock Airport to Sydney then on to Adelaide all on Qantas. Then our big exciting trip will be in July which is Sydney to LHR with British Airways in Premium Economy with a brief refuel in Singapore! So exciting to be flying again! I went from doing 10 long haul trips and 6 Inter-European trips in 2019 then moved to Adelaide in the October and then with covid, not done any international since a Feb 2020 ADL-LHR return in February! I am itching to get back on the long haul! Keep up the videos!!

The plane, although a bit older, at least looked clean, and it helps alot on a longer flight if the crew is happy, polite and helpful.
Crazy question, and a bit "off topic", but do you miss your cat back in Adelaide ?
I am hoping your flatmates are now looking after it .
It was really shocking to see HKG airport end of last year and how quiet it was. The whole aircrew arrival testing setup was tiring and strict room confinement at the airport hotel was terrible but for the passengers 21 days must have been dreadful. I really miss HKG but I think it will be a very different place when we are eventually allowed back into the city. I fly on QR a lot and always try to avoid 777-300 sectors unless I can afford Qsuites and really surprised some of them still have the old seats, I haven’t seen them for years although they are comfy enough if you’re travelling in pairs. I would say the A350 or A380 is the best economy experience on QR and probably the 350 or 777 with Qsuites in business. Hopefully it’s not an A330 to LHR! Look forward to the next sector though.

Hello Mr. Wong, so good to see you back and looking so chipper. Many Happy Returns and sorry you did not get to celebrate in style. I would be so jealous of your stay in HK but you had to endure those quarantine weeks which would have driven me insane so I cannot begrudge you and I bet it was great to touch base with your family. I get that health tea from time to time when my partner determines I am in need of a tonic, totally gross but I gather it works on the theory, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger: it has been touch and go at times. haha there’s no way I’m going to go through the quarantine again unless I’m with somebody. The tea helps with my allergies. I always get something new (could be rashes, could be nonstop sneezing) when I go back to Hk😂

I am no regular traveler but the best economy seat i have sat is on the Air India Boeing 777-300 -er . Seating configuration on economy is 3-3-3 . So wide seats and highly comfortable. Other than the seat comfort cant comment on the other services sometimes good and sometimes not.
Agree, on 3-3-3 layout. Years ago I travelled on two United 777 flights and pretty sure they had that layout about 20 years ago.
@@brentsummers7377 I believe at that time UA had a rather controversial 2-5-2 layout on its early 777s.
Yes Alex a lot of airlines had the 2-5-2 layouts in the early days. I think some 747s had 2-5-3.
Seat width makes a lot of difference for me. Especially in winter when I wear thick clothes sometimes. I tend to move a lot too during sleep so an extra inch helps a lot
@@JaydenWong Indeed. I am almost 100% certain that UA had that odd Y layout. Many complaints from customers hence UA had to change it. As for the original B747s from 1970 the Y layout was 9-across (10-across followed later in the 1970s as air travel demand picked up). Back in late 1970 I flew with one of the original PA B747s FRA-LHR (it was the famous RTW flight) and I recall the 9-across seating which was a lot more comfortable. In 1975 I made several long-haul B747 flights with JL: LHR-DELXXDEL-BKKXXBKK-LHR. In those days JL operated LHR-HND via what it termed the Silk Route (in addition to the Polar Route). These were multi-stop flights.
@@brentsummers7377 the thing is air india has a better 34 inches of sear pitch on their -200LRs. that is what united offers on their economy plus option. compared to their economy Air india's is much better.

Great video and that lounge /food looks stunning… so sad to see HK airport virtually dead - those figures you showed for departing and arriving pax speak for themselves! Would still like to experience Qatar. Interesting about B777 , Emirates B777 felt cramped say compared to their A380.
The second meal looked quite disappointing- at least your travel neighbour had food from the airport as a back up!
Awesome review mate and happy late 22nd! I would say Qatar’s newer 777 cabins are way nicer than the older one you had, but overall the 350 is a nicer plane to travel on. I recently flew Qsuite to and from Pakistan when I visited this past month!

I got a ticket Melbourne-Singapore in December on VTL had it for exactly 3hrs when Singapore Airlines cancelled it due to the freeze they are still capping arrivals 😪
@@brilliantbutblue what I read. If you had booked during the period they will honor the travel. But if you booked after the VLT was suspended they will not allow travel.

Good review for me, Jayden, I can only ever afford economy. It looks as if everything was pretty good except for the 3-4-3 seating which is disappointing. But overall an acceptable service. If I ever make it to Europe I might consider Qatar.
PIA 777s are still 3-3-3 seats. I remember BA 772s also used to have 3-3-3 and was comfortable. Now they have also gone to 3-4-3

No isolation or test before or after flight! Being in the UK felt like covid had never happened. Even some airport staff weren’t wearing masks. Thanks Den!!!

Same. I find the QR 777 very lackluster compared to the A350. It's a shame how Qatar is mismanaging the paint issues on the A350 especially considered that Airbus sees it as a simple fix that QR seems to refuse to implement.

@naturallyherb. Did you see the eye-opening video released last week (not pics) of the damaged a350 skin? If that's what Airbus regards as "superficial" damage, then I would be horrified by their idea of 'serious' damage! Not an al-Baker fanboy, but the Qatari civil aviation authorities were right to order QR to ground these planes.

This is absurd damage that needs to be more thoroughly addressed as it could lead to larger issues with the mesh lightening protection or the integrity the fuselage components due to exposure to the elements. The cavelier attitude of Airbus is problematic. I love the A350, but this is an issue. Full stop.
@Ari Parker Gladly. Paint forms the outer protective layer. Without paint the surface is without its first line of protection. When that happens the underlying mesh is exposed. This mesh protects the plane from lightning. After some time, holes may appear under the mesh. This is a bad thing. Holes on planes are not a good idea. Such holes are already in evidence on at least one QR aircraft.....you're welcome, 'Ari Parker'.

The problem with Qatar is how fast they have expanded and this might backfire in the near future. Their products offered are very inconsistent because they have too many different types and often have aircraft changes, sometimes at the eleventh-hour. Also, although the service on board are usually good, the same cannot be said with their customer service on the ground, especially when you encounter an issue. It almost feels like a nicely packaged airline on the outside but has lots of issues to fix on the inside.
I noticed some of their fleet has windowless seats. Would anyone know which exact seat numbers they are? Thanks!
Good video! Flying HKG-LON Cathay Pacific economy class next month 11pm departure. Transit ferry Shenzhen-HKG 2pm. 6-7 hours to waste haha. Are there any lounges I can pay as a one off?

It’s totally free! It’s next to the shower area. You’ll see a corridor leading to the cabanas when you walk to the restaurant

thank you! I’m already back in Australia. Just there for a day. Long story short I did Hk-London-Australia due to the limited flights
To each their own I suppose. I flew on their 777-300ER a few years back (the seats are the same) from Doha to Washington, D.C. and I felt quite comfortable that I slept like a baby. I've no problems to repeat that trip again on QR!

Same thing from Doha to Dallas
One time was enough for me.
It was very bad experience flying Qatar.
QR has tons of different cabins. I don’t like the fact that it’s super inconsistent. You can be scheduled to fly on QSuite on the A350-1000 but because of aircraft change, your switched to the 777 with the super old business class. It’s really annoying. It’s not like Lufthansa for example where all the business class seats on wide body is the same, so even if you get an aircraft swap, you still know your getting the outdated and tired LH Business Product. QR Economy is also inconsistent, you could book a flight on the 350-1000 with the newer economy class but the aircraft gets swapped to the 777 with older economy. I think QR should work on streamlining there products so even if there is an aircraft swap, the customers will get more or less the same product as what they were originally expected. hahah love your LH example, very true. I had similar experience with Cathay before- booked A330 long haul configuration from Bangkok to Hk, boarded the plane, it was the short haul configuration with recliner seats.. Thanks for watching!!

As far as I’m aware, no. The UK requires no test before or after travel, and if you are only transiting in Qatar there is no testing requirements :)

Still looking at other options for now. Maybe Thailand instead of Bali. I need that beach resort break. So sick of working from home.....2 years now.
@@NowGetThere : Thailand has a very convaluted system and if you test positive on arrival despite a negative PCR before arrival it's 14 days in Hospital quarantine not hotel at your own expense.
Seemed like a generally positive review so I'm a bit surprised by your recommendation to avoid economy class on Qatar Airways 777. Anyway, looks like you got one of their older planes so that was unfortunate.

3-4-3 on 777s is brutal for long flight. Unfortunately, most 777-300 ERs have now switched to 10 abreast seats. Greedy of the airlines but very uncomfortable for economy class especially if you r not in aisle seat. Even the smaller A320 has better seats in 3-3
totally, find A320 more comfortable if legroom is the same

This is an un-retrofitted 777. The updated ones have Q-Suites business class (you'll know that on booking). Anyway, this cabin is basically on par with Emirates' 777, which none of them has been retrofitted yet. So if you need a middle-east transit flight and all you can choose are Qatar's old 777 or Emirates' 777, basically you cannot avoid these products.
Yep shame they only upgraded the business cabin but not economy. Their A380s are so good tho!
@@JaydenWong The Q-Suite 777s have new economy cabin, which is decent. There are very few large airlines that don't have a mix of new and old products.
